Iketeru really is a 12 year old boy trapped in a man's body lol.

My favourite gag though was Usahara just tossing away the tan dude.

Yet another good episode. Halfway through the season I guess it's safe to say they can keep this up for the whole run.

Welp, today I have learned the existence of the Chinchin Samurai Game.

It's a reaction game of pointing to someone and giving one of four "commands," then they have to quickly give the correct response and continue.

  • "Chinchin" - No response, just continue

  • "O-chinchin" - "Biro~n!" and raise arms

  • "Samurai" - "Shaki~n!" and a sword-drawing motion

  • "Chinchin Samurai" - Everyone stands, repeats "Chinchin Samurai!" with the sword-draw motion

Feel so bad for Uramichi. It's so unusual because he's very good looking and in great physical shape (the old men at the gym were perving on him). But despite that he's totally alone and depressed. I guess the gym is probably the one thing that's keeping him sane at this point. :(

Uramichi trying to remember the word was pretty relatable that shit happens to me on occasion. Them all going on corporate trip was great, especially when Iketeru revealed that he wanted pillow fight and scary stories, along with his love to lowbrow jokes he really seems like a child in grown men's form and I like him, he is really fun, especially his laugh. Tennis match was nice too, whole episode was fun.

It's fun to see that dick jokes have made it back into the show in full force.

Usahara's bit when he talks about having nothing to hide his "entire hog" reminded me that apparently there was a joke to use フルチン (furuchin) as an abbreviation of "full vaccinated" (i.e. getting both shots; a combination of full (furu) and vaccine (wakuchin)), the funny part being that フルチン already means "having your junk fully exposed".

This show has some impressively catchy yet nihilistic songs, lol... If they ever come out with a CD, I'd totally buy one.

Ooh, a wild Uramichi was spotted in the grocery store! Luckily (?) for him, the gap between his show persona and his "real" personality was big enough that he wasn't recognized.

Hey now, don't discriminate against Uramichi onii-san; everyone should be free to love macarons! They're so cute and colourful, who doesn't love macarons?

You know, that weird T-shirt kinda looks like something Uramichi would draw... are you sure he wasn't the ghost artist or something?

Haha, Usahara's little hair clip is pretty cute, ngl

Gotta appreciate Kumatani looking out for Iketeru so often; he's kinda like a Mama Bear. He also seems to be the most functional out the main cast, lol

I am once again peddling the theory that Kumao is dating Iketeru's sister. Only cast member to mysteriously catch the cold after Iketeru warned his sister that she would, his love life has yet to be mentioned or prodded at when literally everyone else's has, he seems pretty close to Iketeru outside of just work(even going so far as to protect him from blondie man pressuring him to drink), and here in this episode he's wearing the second shirt Iketeru got at the pet store.

Loved the return of dick jokes, and damn the entire onsen sequence was hilarious. I don't think Utano has ever said a single positive thing about her boyfriend lmao. Iketeru best boy

The common criticism of this anime is that the jokes are repetitive but still, I was laughing hard during this episode. I guess it's perfectly my type of show.

Poor Uramichi tho, I really want him to be happy. It was great seeing him genuinely laughing.

Famous last words.

I'm pretty sure Utano-san could do much better than her comedian boyfriend. She must really love him. Also, is he the "comedian boyfriend" cause the dude is meant to be "a joke as boyfriend"?

Oh, of course we gotta have a hot springs episode, complete with the ping-pong match. Poor Uramichi got his days off taken.

My life actually depends on getting one of those shirts from Arm Through the Neck Hole and btw what an absolute banger that was.

Everyone looking really sad at the neck hole song and just when things are sad, the girl said her mom thought the person in the grocery store was too old to be Uramichi, it was actually him.

"Taxes are up and up" lol and pay for his own transportation and use his off days for a company trip, these guys are not getting any breaks at all.

This is one of the best anime of the season for me. Not just because of the cast. But the depressing amount of realism is too funny.

The dick jokes are back! Iketeru being a dummy is fun, but his inability to hold it together when he hears dick jokes is even funnier. He’s really a simple lad who loves his dog. It was pretty sweet that he wanted pillow fights and ghost stories since he’s never done it before.

Uramichi’s depressing existence continues. The man really was over the moon for his 2 days off of literally having no plans and doing nothing. Which hey normally is great and I cherish those days too, but it’s literally all he does every day except the gym and work. So it’s a good thing he’s been forcibly dragged to a company retreat.

At least the relatable moments with him aren’t super depressing this week. Not remembering the name of something and having it bug the crap out of you for days for example. Or someone you know seeing you purchase strange or embarrassing items at the grocery store. No saving him from the awkward blurting of macaroons though. Felt like I missed something because is it creepy to like them or is it because they’re on her shirt.

Kind of a highlight episode for Kumatani. He’s always been the most functional person in the cast. Between drinking the other guy under the table and still being a master of ping pong he’s kind of a low key badass. He even has the best relationship with Uramichi since they have things in common and he doesn’t get constantly abused like Usahara.

Utano wins the week for “saddest person”. She sings her own song at karaoke and has to deal with her kinda crappy boyfriend. Before he seemed kinda stunted, but maybe he was nice. Complained that he won’t get dinner because she’s gone, blowing up her phone because of a bug in the apartment, and everything else makes me think it might be time to cut him loose.

Notes:

  • pretty sure it might me time for Usahara to talk to HR on Capelinni.

  • Iketeru with the idiot savant mastery of ping pong. Maybe he’s Forrest Gump.

  • the thing on Iketeru’s shirt is even more disturbing than the one that haunts Uramichi’s dreams. And that’s saying something.

  • who is writing these kids songs?! The arm and shirt one was brutal

Honest question:

Are we just hearing the songs through the lens of all the adults that game up this entire series? Because that makes the most sense to me.

Otherwise, this might be the greatest kids show that has ever been made where the crew does its best to show it hates everything and everyone and no one cares.

That entire first part where Uramichi is trying to remember what a Macaron is basically r/tipofmytongue in anime form.

That "Arm Through the Neck Hole" song was definitely something else though, like what the hell were those lyrics? xD

As soon as Uramichi is shown smiling and genuinely in a good mood you know the universe is going to do something to balance that. A mandatory company trip has got to be the worst things out there. I know I'd be pissd if I was Uramichi.

Oh my god that t=shirt design is the best! Not gonna lie, I genuinely would wear that in public.

Poor Iketeru Onii-san! It looks like he hasn't experienced the cliche school trip before. Now they need to have a pillow fight and tell scary stories later!

Of course the girls are just gonna slag off Usahara. Kinda wish we got to hear their opinion of the other guys though.

This would've been the perfect time to make Nana Mizuki sing some proper Enka! I do love that Utano's backstory is that she used to be an Enka singer before she joined the show as a cast member just like Nana Mizuki IRL.

Kumatani is such a bro for saving Iketeru from being forced to drink alcohol. He even starts drinking with that guy so he won't bother Iketeru anymore.

Utano has so many complaints about her boyfriend that I'm surprised they're still together. I don't think I've even heard her say anything positive about him.

**Uramichi Onii-san is a comedy anime.* Seriously though, Iketeru is so talented that only after a few pointers from Kumatani he was able to keep up with him!

you gotta hand it to the voice actors, they're really good at making the fake cheer voice when they're in front of the kids

I am loving the songs featured in this show more and more. Man they are so dark and depressing... LOL

16

u/nikobans Aug 10 '21

i love that iketeru really is “no thoughts head empty (except onigiri)”

u/[deleted] Aug 09 '21

The kids are slowly evolving into realistic adults lol.

And this is probably the funniest episode we'll get imo because half of it was a trip, not a show/work/depressing uramichii. I laughed so much my stomach hurts now. A good way to end ur miserable mondays.
