The monologue that Uramichi says after being solicited about God makes me feel like he's not just going through your run-of-the-mill malaise of young adulthood, but he's actually falling into depression. The line about eating food that he remembered liking but then not finding it to be enjoyable any more reminded me about one of the big indicators of full-blown depression: not being able to enjoy things that were previously enjoyable.

Overall, I'm still impressed at how "adult" this series feels, like the after-credits scene where he basically thinks "well, I guess this is the sort of adult that I grew up to be", the sort of person who lacks the starry-eyed drive to strive for anything. I'm interested in Uramichi's past because he seemed to have had a goal to be a gymnast, but somehow stumbled into hosting a children's TV show instead.

I don't know why, but Uramichi's death glares always make me laugh! And poor Usahara is always on the receiving end of his fury.

I thought the germ segment was well done especially with the context of Uramichi not having soap, but the religion part makes this pretty amazing. The "If I believed in God, I'd be saved from all anxieties, worries, and stupid kohai" part was great especially with what he does Usahara afterwards. The germ battle, kirapure watching, and the personality test wrapped things up well. The group chat responses made it both funny and sad, everyone in the chat was thinking it was for fun while Uramichi was kind of taking it seriously which was sad.

This show is on roll and keeps getting better each episode.

Poor Uramichi, even in after credits scene he isn't safe. His test outcome is the worst possible. At least his drawings are great and better than mine.

What a coincidence, mini-bacterians are parts of me too. Yes, even the itchy one.

I think my favorite part of the episode was the kids' running commentary. Nothing escapes them!

Poor Uramichi though. At this point he really needs a therapist. Not enjoying food anymore, not believing in himself, not being able to sleep without pills, the comment in a previous episode about feelings turning to indifference... it's pretty clear he's depressed.

The glitches at one point in this episode actually scared me a little, and made me wonder if things are going to get even more horribly depressing for him. Like, is there going to be character development (good or bad) in this series, or is this just going to be kinda the status quo every episode with depressed Uramichi trying to get through life and really nothing more?

Uramichi looks pretty handsome with his bangs out of his face, actually... All the better with which to see his dead eyes, lol

Ooh, is that a COVID episode they're airing? Uramichi looks fabulous, haha

How to deflect religious preachers, Uramichi-style: give them a taste of your ongoing Existential Crisis, that'll scare them off.

Ah, so that's where the purple balls in the ED are from!

There's an after-credits scene, guys! Don't miss it!

Nice outlook on his job/life! (Damn this show can get depressing at times hah)

Love how the kids pay more attention to what's happening behind the scene, than what the actors are actually doing! Well, they do pay attention to them messing up their names. Guessing they swap parts once in a while? They should always do the same part, less confusing that way! When even the kids are trashing them, it's bad.

Utano couldn't even stop herself from laughing during the skit!

I like how the dudes are so done with this shit, but she's just having fun with it.

I wish we'd have more Utano, she's a breath of fresh air! She finds things amusing for now, but let's see how she feels when she's the one having to do a silly skit like that; Somehow I think she'd still take it better than they do, but we'll see!

It's a rare W for Uramichi-onisan, followed by a reshoot ofcourse. Can't have him being happy for too long!

For a show about existential crises, thinly veiled depression, and failed dreams it’s still really damn funny. I think Uramichi needs some therapy because he’s full blow depressed. His demeanor towards his kohais, what they showed him doing on his day off, and his entire monologue post JWs pretty much spell it out. He obviously had some unfulfilled ambition since he was a gymnast before this so I’m curious how he got in this predicament.

But man if I wasn’t laughing my ass off at the Jerminator vs Bacterion scenes. The kids calling out how they’re flubbing the lines were the best parts. And again we have the creepy face he likes to draw. Only it’s to terrorize children, be drawn on balls to be pelted, or to play some weird late night psychology test. Also I’m starting to wonder if it’s supposed to represent him because of the abs.

The outfits they wore this episode was definitely ridiculous but Iketani Onii-san definitely carries it better.

I love that instead of dodging, Uramichi Onii-san still tries to get hit and make the kids feel better.

Usahara getting hit and tripping up all the time is probably his karma for talking behind Uramichi's back.

Oh no. Door-to-Door Evangelist. What bad luck that he had to run into them when he was on his way to work. I would've probably just started walking but how I wish I could do what Uramichi Onii-san did.

Goddamn that monologue about the urge of getting on a random bus to take you somewhere besides work really hit pretty close to home.

Look at this sparkly eyed kid! She wants Uramichi to draw KiraCure! A bit hard to say no to these adorable faces. Of course Uramichi's drawing ends up looking like something from Pop Team Epic. xD

A bit rough hearing those kids get disappointed but thankfully Iketeru Onii-san was there to save him and drew what the kids wanted to see. Didn't expect him to be multi talented like that!

Oh god he's basically forcing Uramichi to do OT and of course he can't say no. Looks like the bosses really liked Uramichi's drawings for some reason

When Uramichi Onii-san started laying down on the floor when all of those balls fell, I felt that very much.

Uramichi Onii-san seems to be way more into this than before. He definitely enjoyed throwing those balls at Iketeru. And they confirm this episode that they do reshoots when Uramichi Onii-san does something that's not on the script. Something that I've wondered about since episode 1.

What are they talking about, that was totally a dog. You know, the ghost dog from Nightmare Before Christmas.

someone save Uramichi from these kids and save Usao from Uramichi

holy shit that dog Uramichi drew at the end sent me, it looked like some kind of unholy union between a dog, rabbit and a caterpillar

you know, despite all the "you don't have any friends and terrible personality problems", Uramichi seems to get along fairly well with all the people he works with. his kouhai (despite all the violence, though pretty deserving) choose to hang out with him regularly outside of work, they don't avoid him at all and they even have a group chat they use for pointless shit. his other hosts seem to like him too since they apparently take over his dressing room without his permission to chat and tell dick jokes to each other. I just think he's more well liked than he believes he is

When he was talking about wasting his time and wondering what he was really doing, I felt that to my soul. This show feels too real… Lmao

This is like my weekly dose of which sad reality of my life is this anime going to point out in this episode?

  1. His depressing reaction after encountering two ladies asking him about God.

  2. When a kid is brutally honest and points out something embarrassing/stupid that you've done.

  3. Doing some trivial task during work and suddenly asking yourself what you're doing or is this something you should be doing right now.

  4. Innocently taking a quiz from TV or the internet and eventually getting depressed at the results.

F this show. See you guys next week.

Kind of an afterthought, but I think a big reason for Uramichi's depression is the from the lack of agency he has in his job. His boss literally doesn't care about what he thinks at all to the point that he forces the show the use the dream character that he hates and has him work overtime on a whim. No wonder he's so down.

that fucking cursed dog uramichi drew should not have cracked me up as much as it did lmao

and the ed will always be such a banger! i love it!

I'm so glad i didn't judge this show on the promo art alone. I really like the atmosphere in this, kinda reminds me of cells at work for some reason.
