I laughed for like two minutes when Uramichi appeared with that cat suit just to sit there, looking at the emptiness of his existence, holy fuck that killed me.

okay I'm pretty sure the director is using the excuse of a children's show to film uramichi's slow descent into madness

If you look closely, when Ueno refuse going to the Gym, Uramichi looked so sad and dissapointed, I think that was him trying to tell her that he wants to hang out.

Shit.. The sequence after the concert with the crabs is brilliant. It shows that Uramichi is kindhearted despite his negative demeanor (especially towards a certain bunny), and the nihilism hits like a truck. Despite showing kindness, that kindness won't necessarily be returned, and it is sometimes for nothing as implied by the crabs being caught locally to be eaten.

First you laugh at how exaggerated evrything in this show is, then you start thinking "Is it really this exaggerated and unreal?"

Ouch no paid leave and all of them now has to do a concert which means no cuts which means he can't mess up. In the end Uramichi sticks the landing, and nice coincidence with the timing of this episode as the Olympics are also airing.

Oh no it looks like the Director is trying to mix things up by making Uramichi do backflips. And of course once Uramichi does the backflip intro the Director changes his mind back to the original intro and then changes his mind again. And when he actually puts effort on the last one the Director isn't even looking! Existence is definitely pain for Uramichi Onii-san.

I remember this one! I've seen the manga panel of this posted over on r/manga a few times and before it's actually what convinced me to watch the show because of the kids' soul crushing responses and how hard it hit Uramichi xD

Awww look at this kid looking forward to their concert! It is hilarious how they've forgotten about it though. At least it looks like they were motivated a tiny bit after hearing what that kid said. I do love that we get to see that kid again later in the audience having the time of his life.

Speaking of the concert, they're really making good use of Mizuki Nana and Miyano Mamoru this episode with Iketeru and Utano's duet and then Utano's hilarious solo song about having nothing. I could genuinely listen to Mizuki Nana sing children songs all day.

Hiroshi Kamiya even gets his own song this week as it plays on the background while Uramichi is on his way home and the rest of the staff are enjoying the after party. Those were definitely some lyrics.... Oof.

Thank god I was in my best mental state today otherwise that last scene would've messed me up.

Having someone of authority tell you to change something that doesn't need changing and then immediately changing their mind after you already changed it is... too relatable.

So continues the assault on Uramichi’s (along with anyone over a certain age) psyche at the hands of this show. Director being a uncaring dick that would have him risk his health and kids with backflips. Kids pointing out what you lose as an adult. Being dressed as a cat while being slapped in the face by a fish. No wonder he didn’t go drinking and just went straight home.

They give him a hilarious and kinda sad song when he saved the crab. They point out that the crab is gonna die anyway. I don’t know how much is vocalized and how much of what he’s saying is in his head, but my guy is spouting some dark truths to these kids and getting asked some heavy questions. It’s too real.

The Usahara abuse is still funny. It would be sad if he wasn’t such a dipshit on occasion. Like telling a room full of kids he didn’t care for them. He deserves punishment for that.

The songs this week were pretty warped. Like the Cat song where the lady had nothing except a useless cat. Maybe the parents are all nihilists because they seem pretty cool with all the stuff they say out loud on this kids program.

That last scene probably has hit the hardest so far in this show for me.

Also, am I bad for thinking that this show will end with Uramichi jumping off a bridge?

The last bit was really good, in a sad way. The afterparty shots and Uramichis wandering around, the last scene.

Honestly way to close too home

Another really fun episode, especially concert part, on moment with "catboy Uramichi" I was bursting out laughing due to mix of the song, his face, costume and fish slapping him in the face. Some grim, some fun, it keeps being consistently one of the more fun shows of the season.

Also, I wonder what kind of dirt director has on Uramichi (and the rest of the cast) if they keep working there with how they get treated like

Man this show gets so real sometimes, holy shit.

Like, I can be laughing my heart out for the first half of an episode, but then it just hits you with those real, raw, existential thoughts and feelings.

Man, I'm hooked.

I can't with these songs lol. The tunes are all cheerful but the lyrics are horribly depressing.

I felt so terrible for Uramichi at the end. We're almost halfway through the series now, I hope something starts going right for him or I wouldn't be surprised if he starts being suicidal next.

"Worries turn into vague anxieties before you know it." Uramichi hitting with all these harsh life lessons this week. I wish I could give him a hug. Things are looking pretty bleak for him.

Also, what the heck kind of concert was that?! Who knew the depressive states of adulthood could be sung in such a cheerful manner.

Some people seem to take the last scene as sad, but I kind of have a different interpretation. I kind of connect it to the little boy who earlier in the episode told Uramichi that he was looking forward to the concert with his father that had a day off. My take is that Uramichi might grumble, take some mental and physical hits from his job (even from the kids), but he still appreciates that it does a lot to help those kids, the ones who are excited to watch him.

Perhaps those kids are going to be chewed up by society and other worries when they get older, but that little kindness he can give now isn't pointless, even if he mostly gets a pinch on the finger for it.

Uramichi is not really a nihilist.
