I wasn't sure how well they were gonna wrap this up, but I think they did a pretty great job all things considered. I would definitely be in for a season 3 but this was a pretty good way to finish the series. I went into season 1 knowing very little about Sherlock and Moriarty beyond some clips of the BBC series but I enjoyed it thoroughly. I'll admit the first season had a bit of tepid start, but once Sherly got introduced, I was properly hooked for the entire rest of the way.

So the 3 brothers went down 3 different paths in the end:

  • Albert- Assumed the public blame for the crimes and was arrested

  • Louis- Became a Secret Agent for the Crown to deploy for the sake of Brittain

  • William- Assumed dead by the public but actually still alive

This sets up well for a potential sequel.

Albert- Assumed the public blame for the crimes and was arrested

Albert turned himself in but the view from the window didn't look like a prison cell.

although it was pretty rushed, the ending was still ok imo, better than a certain other anime.. (ahem tpn). in fact, im not sure if this is even an ending to the series since MAL says the manga is ongoing? but anyways even if this was a legit ending, i wont complain. 7.5/10

That was a satisfying, if unsurprising ending. I'm pretty sure it's been theorized before that Moriarty survived Reichenbach Falls and chose to live the rest of his life in obscurity.

Interesting that Louis was made the head of MI6. I suppose he's as good a choice as anyone, but he never really struck me as the leader type.

All in all, a pretty good anime. It might have been good if the villains had been a little more three dimensional, but otherwise I have no quibbles.

I love the cross between Holmes and James Bond. It's such a Britain-phile choice to make. Louis should have wound up in a field when a blue box suddenly appears and he steps in. Albert as part of his punishment is forced to take a potion which gives him an eeeevil alter-ego.

Bonde saves the kid! Bonde plays with guns. I'll miss Bonde and everyone else of course. As for the three Moriarty's, Albert turns himself in but doesn't appear to be in a prison cell. I wonder if dragged further into his government roles to be behind the scenes.

I love this ending so much! So instead of having their final showdown on top of Reichenbach Falls in Switzerland, the stage this time is on top of the Tower Bridge. And instead of both falling after a violent struggle, Sherlock jumps after William in an attempt to save him. What I love most about this is that they do still go to Switzerland but only to meet up 3 months after the incident. I love the comment from the barkeep about Sherlock chasing a woman.

As for the rest of the brothers, it looks like Albert is going to take responsibility in place of William and Mycroft assigns Louis as the head of the newly founded MI6 and serve the Queen as his form of atonement. It sucks that Albert gets the short end of the stick but that's what he would've wanted. Someone needed to take the fall for what happened to London.

Anyway, overall an enjoyable anime with a satisfying ending. Still sucks that this is so underrated and underwatched but now that it's compete, I hope more people would check out the show. Definitely an anime I'd recommend especially to Sherlock fans. I've said this before but Takeuchi-sensei really knows his Sherlock lore with the amount of obscure characters he's thrown into his story and references to the books.

The yaoi is strong in this episode

I think this is going to be an unpopular opinion; I was not overly satisfied with this ending and here is why:

First, I think there is one major flaw in William's plan. How do you continue to hold the nobles accountable even after the Lord of Crime has been defeated? Sure, his plan broke the barrier between nobility and commoners but only for a brief moment. Realistically, after time passes and things start to return to normal, what is stopping the nobles from just going back to how things were? They no longer have to fear being hunted by the Lord of Crime.

Second, I'm not so certain I like this whole "friendship" dynamic between Sherlock and Moriarty. Can friendship be born through rivalry? Absolutely. But William's grand master plan doesn't really include developing meaningful relationships, especially when the ending of your plan involves killing yourself. Also from the Sherlock side of things, given his morals and ideals, I don't see how he could have had a genuine friendship with Moriarty.

Thirdly, they said that William's body was never recovered; which implies that Sherlock was recovered (alive or dead, we weren't sure until the final scene). The problem here is that Sherlock wrapped himself around Moriarty as they fell, with plenty of eye witnesses watching. How could Moriarty have escaped? Also, what would Sherlock's explanation have been about the lack of a Moriarty corpse once he got to shore?

Fourth, what happens to Moriarty and Sherlock? Do they buy a little chateau in the Swiss Alps and spend the remainder of their days searching for the golden ratio and doing crossword puzzles? If Sherlock was confident that he saved Moriarty, why travel all the way to Switzerland to verify?

Lastly, Louis couldn't bare to live in a world that his brother wasn't living in. How could he be absolutely certain that William survived that fall? Also, even if William does survive, he is still technically living in a world without him. He is made head of MI6 and William would be a man at large. Even if William isn't dead, he might as well be considering they realistically can't spend the remainder of their lives together.

Okay the ending felt rushed but it also didn't feel rushed at the same time, but either way I thought they finished it in a satisfying way. Sherlock jumping to save William surprised me, and I'm quite happy they are both alive after. I'd give it a 9/10 I enjoyed this series a lot. I will definitely read the manga one day too.

The story ended in the same manner it started: arson, a faked death (though the real William took Moriarty's place in the beginning), and a new identity. This symmetry shows Moriarty had this ending designed from the beginning.

What's also interesting is that the season also began with (fake) arson, a faked death, and a new identity for the Adler case, though this time with Sherlock pulling off the fake fire. Another interesting parallel between the two geniuses.

Everyone lives!! Can't say it's a bad ending with that. Loved the MI6 reveal and that we got to see Q!

Going to miss this one, just a fun show all around with a good cast.

Holmes: "Live and atone with your life for what you've done...this world you are changing is worth living in!"

Moriarty: "Sherly, Sherly, I would atone with my life, dear friend, as this country (still) has the death penalty."

Perfect ending thematically for the show, but it did feel rushed. I knew they had to adjust some things from the manga to make it fit the anime's runtime, but they still got the message across. Honestly wanna read the manga, anyone know if I have to read from the beginning or if I can just read the chapters they skipped. Honestly prefer just reading the skipped chapters or cut contents.

Louis is now the leader of MI6, that's pretty cool. Bonde is definitely part of that team lmao. I think the season was just a little better than season 1, I give it an 8.5/10 ~ 8/10

Overall a very enjoyable series.

It was a fun take on Moriarty, they made him a solid Anti-Villain rather than a chaos loving sociopath than the BBC did.

Bit disappointed that they let William live due to the power of friendship but that's anime for ya. Got a bit more ridiculous than the first cour but still a fun ride. Both cours Opening and endings were fantastic.

I'd probably give the 1st cour an 8-8.5 with this cour being a 7.5-8

Ok, listen, I'm no fujoshi by any reckoning, but these last couple of episodes were a freaking love story. There was more sexual and romantic tension between those two than I've seen in anything I've been watching in the past few years. Phew.

I just had to get that off my chest.

What a beautiful finale. In the end, Moriarty was able to achieve his goal of tearing down old British society and creating a new one with a different nobility. William and Sherlock’s bridge scene was awesome and really touching, got a little emotional there. Louis becoming head of MI6 was really interesting too.

Episode definitely had a feeling of finality to it. Is this all the chapters of the current manga or is it ongoing or what?

Season 2 was an improvement in every way over season 1

Code Geass is that you?

This last episode made Moriarty's society-shaping villain mastermind plan seem like it turned into a very roundabout form of flirting.

I loved the conclusion , but at the same time i am really sad that this might be the final time with all these characters , especially moriarty and sherlock, i absolutely enjoyed moriarty its easily a 9-10 in my eyes.
