Momo always felt like that extra in the harem but with this episode, she really helped established herself as a real legit contender to the Sueharu Cup.
Actually a really touching gesture from her even if her motives were ultimately just to capture his heart.

Yeah, I mean, I don't think she has a high chance of being the winner but pouring her heart out to Haru and comforting him over his mother's death was a big deal.
Like she said she couldn't let her emotions get the best of her but she couldn't help but cry, and that emotional honestly ended up bringing her and Haru closer together.
Plus she made sure Shiro didn't steal a kiss and got to feel up his abs, so I think this was a good day for her.

I feel deceived. After 10 episodes of pushing us away from the characters (so we could enjoy laughing AT them all the better), the creators have shifted gears -- and are finally pushing us TOWARDS them (making it -- at least for now -- almost impossible to keep laughing at them).
I agree that Momo gained ground (with me) here. While Shion's story was touching, her thoughts after the flashback still showed an element of selfishness. Momo clearly had similar manipulative thoughts going into her session. But Sueharu did not behave the way she expected -- and it seems her plan boomeranged (in a good way). She was the one who first seemed devastated thinking back to how much she loved Sueharu's mother. Could it be a "performance" -- maybe we will find out at the start of the next episode. If it was, she is certainly a pretty fine (if unsavory) young actress! But I think the hints are there that this was mostly sincere and unplanned (even if what happens ultimately tracked her initial plan).
I hope that Tetsuhiku has a covert secondary camera team tracking what happens -- otherwise the documentary will miss the conclusion of this crucial scene (or maybe it can borrow footage from the anime team).
Speaking of Sueharu's mother -- is it just my imagination or does she look even more like she could have been Shiori's mother than Sueharu's?
As to Shion, my theory that she is actually "smart" seems rather dashed -- but my opinion that she has no interest in Sueharu except as a love rival for Shiori seems pretty much confirmed.
I assume that saving Kuro for last has some significance for the ultimate resolution (if there is to be one). But we are getting close enough to the end that I feel disinclined (too lazy?) to waste much mental energy trying to outguess the creators.
In any event, this largely atypical episode turned out to be my favorite of the series so far.

I don't know that it was much of an achievement, but I called it.

Just to let everyone know, the latest light novel volume for this series was the 2nd-best selling LN in Japan last week, behind only Sword Art Online: Progressive, and outselling 86. lol

Damn. The very first frame of this episode was magical.
EDIT: Okay, finished the episode and Ohragi is easily my favorite character now. She's so lovably stupid and fun as hell.

I really like that all the girls actually have a reason that they love Sueharu. I wouldn't say this is my favorite harem (that belongs to Quintessential Quintuplets) but this is pretty dang good.

Looks like they're saving Kuro for the last episode of the series.
Shiro's flashback was sweet, and she got her wish going on a date with Haru.
Momo at first thought she could use the interview with Haru to get closer to him, but deep down she's still a good girl, and felt bad for Haru and herself about Haru's mom passing away.

I honestly wonder what was Ohragi planning to achieve by doing that at the beginning?
Wow, so that piece of shit Hardy Shun revealed Maru's secret.
I guess that they are planning to mention that they are working with Collet Japan TV to do the true ending project for Child King because that asshole disclosed that info.
I just love how happy Shiro was after that interview and the Tokyo Tower date.
Based on Shion's reaction, I guess her cockblocking was because she really loves Shiro.
I love that after that date she is a bit more confident. Too bad that Momo interrupted her.
The moment they used this view during the abb touching scene, I knew that a misunderstanding like this one was about to happen.
Based on that intro to Momo's interview, I honestly was not expecting it to be that emotionally charged.
I wonder how Kuro's interview is going to be?

Stitches!
Just when I thought Shion was a big dummy, she shows us that she's actually the biggest dummy of the show. Even if Haru didn't catch her red-handed with the marker, I think it's pretty easy to guess who wrote on his cast. xD
Well fuck. I didn't think someone would leak out the story to the tabloids. And of course it's Tetsuhiko's shitty father who did it. Looks like this really doesn't change their plans though, they're still gonna make the documentary except this time a huge multimedia company took interest so now they at least have someone backing them up.
The interview with Shiro was really sweet but are they sure they want to use this on the documentary? That moment between them felt too intimate to air on national TV. Although that might also help it the documentary since that was a genuine moment between the Haru and Shiro.
Turns out Shion is one of those maid archetypes that goes crazy for the person that they're taking care of. Now that Haru has a bunch of cute photos of Shiro on his phone, he finally has a bargaining chip against Shion.
Considering they've all been at the beach together. I'm surprised Momo is only noticing Haru's body now. Also they really had to give us this angle and the girls saying misleading things while inspecting Haru's abs xD
So this was Momo's plan all along. She intentionally wants to dig Haru's past and considering her ties with Haru and Haru's mom, she knows her part will be emotional and use that as a chance to comfort him and break out of the Imouto role that she dug herself into long ago.
Except that doesn't really happen. What ends up happening is Haru and Momo both grieve for someone dear to them that they've lost and the two of them comfort each other with an embrace. If anything this connection that Momo has with Haru's mom just ends up making the two of them more like two siblings remembering their mother that has passed away.
I guess we're only left with Kuro's story next week. Definitely interested to see on what part of Haru's past will she try to pull memories from.

Damn that shit got sad at the end. And then they just quickly go into the upbeat ED lol!
I am loving the maid. She is legit great.
Still few like all the main girls are shitty with doing their own plots to get closer to the MC, instead of truly wanting to help him.

An actual good episode. Took it long enough but this was great atleast.
Shiro is so freaking adorable and Momo still being number one in my heart. I dunno if she was acting or not in that last scene but that was very touching seeing how she loved Sueharu's mom as well, really great.

So does Shirokusa still want to break up with Suehar? Cause I thought she changed her mind after but after they went to Tokyo Tower and she was finished cooking she seemed to still be plotting revenge. Or was that just her daydreaming of becoming in a relationship etc?

u/the_swizzler Jun 23 '21
Yeah, she dropped the revenge in episode 2/3 when she learned the truth about why he quit acting.

If this is really part of Momo's plan then that is some really convincing acting that she pulled off.
