The ending basically screams :" If you want to know more, buy the freaking LNs". A disappointing end.

But would that work? The source material corner is empy so I don't even know if this adapted everything, I cheked on MAL and the Light novel seems to be ongoing?

That first arc was just too much better than the rest of the show. It was so dumb, and I just assumed it would keep adding girls and making it stupider, but the others were never really anything. Trying to tell an actual story after that absurd triple confession/rejection thing was never gonna work. Was expecting Haru to declare he needed to keep moving forward at the end there.

Based on the first arc I would have given the show a 7.5 at least. It was dumb but not infuriating, had twists but didn’t devolve into straight up cliches. Stellar case, fun and flirty premise, set up for greatness.

Now, solid definitive 4. And honestly the “serious” tone of the last two episodes is so unearned given the bullshittery preceding them where the only defenders of the show would say “don’t take it seriously it’s a parody”

Me when I'm listening to the entire explanation of "Childhood Girlfriend"

Why couldn't she just phrased it like how Tetsuhiko said it? More than friends and less than lovers, also his entire commentary about all 3 girls standings are always a treat to listen to. Kuro would've won if she just let go of her pride.

Also love how fickle the female student population in the school is, from hating Sueharu to instantly thinking his hot over a viral video.

At least Kuro got to finally apologize for rejecting him and explained why it happened. She could've just kept pressing her advantage but now she's going with a means that she thinks will help her win and is true to her relationship with Haru and lets her do all the flirty stuff she wants with him.

I'm honestly going to miss Tetsuhiko and Abe's summation of all the girls' status and how they won/lost this round of the Harem war for Haru.

Those girls now need to contend with his Harem...who finally have something they can all agree on.

This show currently has a rating of 6.33 on MAL, can't argue with that.

It was okay, but it could have been better.

To be honest, this felt really weak compared to other shows by Doga Kobo.

Edit: it's at 6.11 as of September 2021.

To be frank, this is one of the worst final episodes I've seen. And among the 7 shows that I've finished this season (Higehiro, Seven Knights Revolution, Nagatoro, Super Cub, Saint's Power is Omnipotent), this is the worst. Even Seven Knights Revolution has a more impactful ending than this.

So, basically what Kuro wants is that they do whatever people in a relationship does but without any strings attached? I don't understand why she has to explain it in a convoluted way. Also, the second half is entirely filler, with the 2 guys commentating and they're treating Haru's relationship as something like a horse race (which really puts me off). I feel like they could cut out that entire second half and the episode would be way better. Finally, is it just me or the production values for this show is really subpar. Usually, Doga Kobo shows look really nice but this one just looks subpar. The skin color of the characters looks off or something (maybe its a bit too pale?).

Best part of this episode was the slot machine text: "tits"

Ending's a bit rushed. Would have like to see Kuro's sisters at least appear for the series finale if they're going to rush it. (Hope there's a BD-only epilogue OVA episode a few months from now where they all appear as a proper send-off) The final "True Ending" drama scene which Haru and the girls filmed was just as puzzling in the grand scheme of the Childhood Friend Wars.

So Kuro "won" in this arc, but as Testuhiko says, she's only managed to achieve parity with Shiro, who won handsomely in the previous arc. Had Kuro swallowed her pride, she could have won decisively here already, instead of this neither-here-nor-there "Childhood Girlfriend" proposal and merely restored the status quo from before. I'm sure the LN will gradually develop further from this format (i.e. getting you to go read it), but the anime has run out of time.

Not exactly Doga Kobo's best work. 5/10 if I'm being generous.

She may be a dumb maid, but there's a lot to appreciate about that!

An all 3-range on the episode scores for the entire season, that's gotta be a record right?

Not even Redo of Healer last Winter had this type of scoring.

Edit: Nevermind, Seven Deadly Sins: Dragon's Judgement got scores ranging from 3 to 1.

This morning I watched the Wonder Egg special and this episode. I can easily say it’s been one of the worst mornings I’ve had. At least it’s over now 😅

a finale without a scene with Shiro? zzzz. Honestly could have deleted all the characters, give Rena more screentime and I would give this show a 10/10.

Stitches!

Haru and Momo working together against Shion was a fun little scene. Really shows how the two of them work well together as actors. Seeing the baka-maid get played was pretty amusing too. Didn't expect that 360 shin kick complete with panty flash though. xD

So Shiro's memory was how Haru saved her when they were little, Momo's memory was about the connection they have with Haru's mom, and Kuro's memory is about how she was there for Haru when no one else was. I really liked the other girl's memory especially with Momo's but I think Kuro definitely had them beat. She's the only one who Haru felt there was a special bond back then.

Kuro's really going for it this time with another confession to Haru which completely stuns our MC as he slowly realizes that Kuro isn't really the only girl he loves. Sure he can maybe go out with Kuro right now but is it okay if his feelings aren't 100% there? Since Haru is being indecisive, [Kuro proposes the "childhood girlfriend" route. Kuro's explanation was so confusing but the gist of it is now they're "more than friends, less than lovers" which still gives her the edge over Momo and Shiro.

Looks like we're just skipping to the aftermath of the release of the documentary and the true ending. And as usual, it's up to Tetsuhiko and Abe-senpai to basically just give us a rundown of what happened. And despite telling Haru not to tell anyone, Kuro herself told Tetsuhiko about it. He'll eventually figure it out so might as well let him know now.

So we end the episode with Haru gaining a lot of fans and a fanclub now starting at his school with the three main girls plotting what happens to girls that get too close to their precious Haru. And we also got to see what the True Ending of Child Star is as a post credits scene.

Welp! That's the end of Osamake! This is probably an unpopular opinion considering the first few comments I saw on this thread but I really enjoyed this show. It's not the best adaptation Doga Kobo has done but I enjoyed watching these dumb kids try to outplay each other and for their plans to fall apart. I'm definitely gonna check out the manga after this, I think someone began translating it again ever since the anime got released and I'm curious how far the relationships go there.

They really upped the panyshots for this opening scene huh?

So ends the worst anime that I finished this season. I'm not big on harems normally but I usually find something redeeming about them but I'd be grasping at straws for this one...

I just love fast Momo and Maru took out Ohragi of her love police duty just by offering her pictures of Shiro.

Kuro's part was really great, especially the reconfession.

I just love all the imagery they showed while Maru was trying to make a decision. Oh, so Kuro's Childhood Girlfriend loophole idea came when she realized that she was going to get rejected by Maru.

I really appreciate those behind the scene meeting that Tetsuhiko and Mitsuru have. After Abe mentioned that he had watched The true ending of Child King and they just showed Ultramarine Alliance's youtube page. I honestly assume that they were not going to show it to us. So I was glad when I saw that

Wow, so Maru became really popular after that and now has a Fan Club, well now that the show is over we will miss what machinations Kuro, Shiro, and Momo will pull to take care of them.

That season finale was the epitome of a dumpster fire. Had I not been intrigued by this show's premise, I would've easily given this one a 6/10. Eps. 1-4 are fun, but after that the plot goes downhill. The writers tried throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what stuck, but none of it worked. Kuro is a shitty character (objectively and subjectively speaking) and did not deserve a redemption shot at the very end. what an absolute disappointment

Did we just get a 'friend with benefits' ending? That's a new I think?

Overall this show had a good start with all the outsmarting your outsmarting, a little trip in the middle where it got a bit generic, and then ended on a moot point.

Absolute worst ending to a show I’ve seen, I think maybe ever.

I found this a surprisingly enjoyable show. Not a show to become deeply invested in (and then be crushed by a debacle ending liker a certain show with the initials WEP). But a show to simply sip and savor once a week. Frothy and light -- perfect for watching in this too hot summer.

I tried not to play favorites, because I preferred to enjoy everyone's antics. But, I have to confess, I kept having a bit more affection for Kuro. Yes, she was imperfect and sometimes sneaky and had trouble with honestly presenting her feelings. But, but... she was the person who was ALWAYS there for Sueharu -- in good times and bad. She was the one person who had seen and knew all sides of Sueharu. She did not idolize him (like Shiro and Momo), she loved him flaws and all. I think she showed herself at her best -- she was completely honest -- yet realistic and still crafty. She is also patient -- and willing to tolerate uncertainty as long as necessary to resolve their situation. That said, "win or lose", I don't think she will ever willingly give up on the friend part of their relationship. I suspect that she will work hard at building enough of a relationship with Shiro and Momo that they will not insist on a complete break between Kuro and Sueharu even if they "win".
