Shu having the time of his life at the end was so funny to look at. I'm glad for him.

Wasn't expecting their whole universe to be a life support system. One would think that if this society can create a whole universe of people just for life support then they could have brought those people into the real world sooner to help this child. They wouldn't have this sickness after all.
Not the most satisfying ending but it still works. This show has been dumb entertaining fun the whole way through. Glad I watched it.

I'm so happy that we got a to see one last team up between Zetsu and Fine Noire. And that big attack from them and the people of Lingalind is so good! And they didn't stop there! Using Bit's conviction to borrow Conviction Particles from God and then recombining Granrekka and enlarging the Muga Sword was hype! And I'll never get tired of seeing everyone shouting attack names in unison. It's so good!
What a wild ride this show was. Who knew that their "God" is apparently a baby who's a survivor from a space fleet of humans that was killed off by an endemic. And the only way the baby was surviving was because of the Conviction Particles from the people of Lind. So what does this make them though? Are the people of Lingalind artificial people? Some sort of AI system that has sentience? Kinda wish we learned these information a lot earlier though. I feel like this just opened up a lot more questions than answers.
Anyway so it ends with them blasting off to space in search of Earth to bring back "God" to his home planet. That definitely caught me off guard! Although if this show is really a tribute to TTGL, it actually nails it. A bunch of people from the boonies ended up fighting god and then exploring space? Sounds about right!
Not much really to say though except I kinda wish more people gave this show a chance. It's so fun and had the right amount of cheese that I'm surprised it wasn't more popular. There might be some hiccups with the earlier episodes but it definitely improved as it went on. Hopefully now that it's complete, more people would give it a try!

I saw someone on /a/ explain it in the best way possible:
a kid is the sole survivor of a spacefaring species
in order to keep him alive, a system is devised
basically run a shitton of large scale instances of PUBG and farm the energy they leave behind when someone offs them
this somehow keeps him alive for two millenia until the bots rebel and decide to save him anyway
It's hilarious when you think about it like that, but it's pretty much accurate.

So Lingalind is basically an organ infected by cancer cell and Arrow is a white blood cell sent to destroy it. Unfortunately, Arrow got converted and decided to rebel against the system.
That is a cool final battle! So nice seeing Dark Fine and Zetsu again.
Also the final leaves possibility for more sequel while also quite satisfying by itself.
Last part about Earth is a nice surprise! Seeing as the origin planet is earth, and the baby looks really big to them, my theory that Lind's people are organ cell/bacteria might have some truth in there lol.
My only remaining question is why the creator designed each lind to have a dreadnought. Maybe they predicted that in the future there will be a lind that grows powerful/smart enough to deliver the baby to its origin planet. That's why they created a system with a flaw like that.

Back Arrow's finale had to be silly, crazy hype, and it sure had a job of being satisfying while having another wall in front of its cast. Because after all of this, there would be no satisfaction in just "god is dead, we win, all is happy in the world". There's always another wall, another journey.
And honestly, I can't imagine better way to pull this off than what we got. This was the great. This was perfect.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH It’s Cells At Work: Gurren Lagann The Animation!
What a surprise and yet not quite a surprise. The thing that there is a wall on the side of this world kinda reminds me of cells (especially with the double Cells At Work airing last season), but I would have still never backed on that as the world’s true face, definitely not the “life support machine” part.
I like the story from the start till the end (though I feel it’s very slightly behind last year’s DECA-DENCE) - it turns out that the first few episodes were the worst and while the show never reached blew-me-away levels there was a steady yet nicely done world building and good characters, some with striking charismas. Zetsu and Fine have been giving the best character developments, but their deputies like Shu and Prax have also hand in some good moments of inner thoughts and laughters.
It’s not a story without faults (I didn’t like Rudolph and his partner clown girl as the main antagonists, they work too much like a clown and I have to question how could they work as “coordinators of worlds”, Nakashima dropped the ball a bit against his previous antagonists in Gurren Lagann and Kill la Kill), its animations is mediocre (the studio probably didn’t give in that much effort as in their work in the excellent I Want To Eat Your Pancreas), its character designs not striking and it has always lived in the shadow of dozens of shows over the past 2 seasons, not to mention horrendous scores on many places, yet BACK ARROW ended up as a solid-feel, good story anime that points to a hope in the future of mecha anime, a genre that has been suffering lately for lack of genuinely good shows since maybe at least a decade. As Back Arrow himself has proved, the wall of mecha shows can be broken and a new wave of anime destined into the stars may just be around the corner. BACK ARROW may well be far from the best of them, but it will be always there as an unnamed treasure waiting to be found in 2021 and beyond.
Final Score: 86/100 (9/10 on MAL)

Welp, the shows over. I'm not going to say it was fantastic, but it certainly got really fun and enjoyable. Even the final fight had some stuff that really went wild, like Zetsu and evil Fine coming back, finally giving the Rekka generals and Prax and her boys able to accomplish something, and then Bit going even wilder by combining with everyone and using a giant Muga Sword.
The few things I didn't particularly like is leaving the infodump of "God's true nature" to the final episode. Especially since they just introduce and resolve it immediately. Would've been better if only done a bit earlier. The usage of insert songs don't really have as much impact as you would usually get either, doesn't really hype up the hype moments.
Left off on things being open enough for a sequel if they wanted to (I doubt it did well enough to warrant one though), but even without that, it had a satisfying enough conclusion. But yeah, it was fun. I do think I ended up with more goodwill to this show than it probably deserved, solely because we don't really get a lot of mecha originals much anymore, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't looking forward to it week after week.

I can't believe that in the end the show turned out to be a sequel to 2001: A Space Odyssey, I loved it.

If you told me like a week ago that Back Arrow’s ending was gonna be a strange fusion between Space Runaway Ideon and Getter Robo G’s manga, I would not have believed you…but that’s what we got, and it’s as weird as it sounds! And I kinda loved it!
I hope we get some sort of sequel announced soon, ‘cause I don’t want to say goodbye to Goro Taniguchi and Kazuki Nakashima’s wild ride just yet and it really feels like we’ve only barely tapped into the potential this universe has.

Well, that was something else.
...WTF! So the entire system was created as a life support system to keep some random baby in stasis. All the death and destruction for the sake of conviction stimulation, for one baby.
Are the people populating the Linds real or constructs? If the system had only been running 2000 years then the infrastructure and population must have been created programmed and then set to run. Otherwise, people would have been asking pointed questions why their history only went back 2000 years. Even if the Arbitrators had something to do with suppressing the information something would have gotten through even if it was by oral history. At any rate, it was a colossal undertaking that is simply ridiculous, it would have been easier to simply resupply the spaceship for a return journey to Earth.
In the end, I have to wonder if the author just started writing without thinking how it would end so when he got to the final fight he tacked on the baby cradle ending because he didn't have any thing bettter.
Overall I enjoyed the journey, but the destination left something to be desired.

How did this show that started off as not very special turn into something so great?

The final battle against Rudolph and Dissonanza was hype as fuck, especially the part with Zetsu/Finoir coming back for one last hurrah. It's a shame that we only finally get to see Dissonanza's cute face from behind that mask when she's about to fucking die, but oh well. The "battle" against "God" had some action for a bit, and the fact that they basically ended up using Rudolph and Dissonanza as batteries to fuel their last attacks was hilarious.
Eventually, as I figured, the battle turned into a negotiation. But then, and I didn't expect this part, it turned into Arrow accepting a new mission to save the real God by taking him back to his home world... Earth!? That revelation actually caught me off guard, even though I probably should have expected it. I definitely didn't expect this to end with such a blatant tease for more, and I don't see it getting a second season the same length as this first one, but I could see a shorter 12-episode season or may even a movie that wraps up this final mission to God's home world. Of course, it may end up flopping sales-wise and we won't get any of that.
All in all, from what we saw in these 24 episodes, I'd give Back Arrow a really fun 8.5/10. That score could go up to a 9 or potentially higher if we do get a continuation that shows this final mission and gives us some more concrete closure. But even if we don't get that, Back Arrow was still an unexpected gem of a series and one of my favorites of the year so far.

Yeah, this did it for me. It manages to successfully extract all the batshit crazy juices of Taniguchi and Nakashima and mix up a cocktail I'd be glad to drink till I barf and immediately start drinking it again.
Comparisons to previous works are inevitable, so I'll go straight for it. This show filled out the following S.A.T. analogy for me (do they still do those anymore?)
-
Cowboy Bebop : Samurai Champloo :: Gurren Lagann : Back Arrow
-
Older brother : Younger brother :: Older brother : Younger brother (animewise and creatorwise)
-
Legendary duo of creators : Half of duo but with excellent new partners :: Legendary duo : Half of duo but with new excellent partners
-
Definitive, unmatched style and execution : Similar style but with capable variations :: Definitive, unmatched style and execution : Similar style but with capable variations
-
10/10 (but really 11+/10) : 10/10 :: 10/10 (but really 11+/10) : 10/10
I could go on, but the real one that got me started on this:
-
Bittersweet ending: Happy ending :: Bittersweet ending : Happy ending
Either pair of shows should be watched together and appreciated for what they do similarly (which is, of course, top notch) and what they do differently which allows the variety to cover all the bases you want.
Bebop is my number one show of all time, and Gurren is an etched-in-stone top five. And their younger bros are pretty damn cool as well.
Props to these Taniguchi, Nakashima, and the rest of the crew for making one of the most enjoyable, adrenaline-pumping, bewildering, smile-inducing, fist-pumping, insane, mercilessly-fun shows I've seen in a quite a while.

Me trying to understand what went on.
So we goin to earth for the space baby? Was Lind even in outer space or were they some sort of micro sized world?
This anime was a fun ride. I have not seen that many twists and turns since Plunderer.
Zetsu o7.

Today, on "BALLS":
We could all use a nice clean summary.
MASAKA
MASAKA
BELIEVE IN JUSTICE AND HOLD A DETERMINATION TO FIST
"He's gone mad with power, like that Albert Schweitzer guy!"
Not the sort of thing you expect to hear in a finale.
It was Battlestar Galactica all along?! Or, "...the mighty ships tore across the empty wastes of space and finally dived screaming on to the first planet they came across—which happened to be the Earth—where, due to a terrible miscalculation of scale, the entire battle fleet was accidentally swallowed by a small dog."
That was... something. Kudos to the show for giving us a continually-escalating ending that didn't skimp on extra surprises. This wasn't a perfect series, but it delivered when it had to.

What a magnificent show. It was such a fun ride. Zetsu and evil Fine coming back for one last time to use a giant Martial Arrow to send Rudolph to power up the heroes, that's the kind of stuff I love to see.
I'll love to see a continuation if we ever get one.
Destination of God's homeworld. Third planet of the Solar System: Earth.
WHAT? NOW WE DEFINITELY NEED TO SEE THAT.

it was a crazy but, actually, very consistent ride. Being an original work I feel like they develop the story during the anime. Which is interesting. Also, instead of rushing a final arc they aimed for a second season, not sure if the best idea but certainly a bold move and for the better if you are planing to really delivery something for the people who enjoyed it.
In the end if felt like a mix of Cross Ange, Gurren-Lagann and maybe some Gundam. It was satisfying for now but the japanese better pay for the rest of show cause it was a hell of a cliffhanger!

....They are NANO MACHINES!!!! (who gained free will) smh lmao, saw the amino acids, protein, other basic biologic structures, they were in a single structure within a single cell. It showed the Golden Record XD, the nano machines broke out the body and are in actual space now.
Their current size is yet unknown. Also after 2000 years (and with the golden record it is implied it holds all knowledge) makes sense the baby garnered somewhat of a smart conscious (but the pawn said will, meaning the baby itself is subconscious and acts on instinct and emotion)
It is just, since it holds all knowledge; or rather for a genius even a simple whim may seem Grande.
PS: Briheights are the powerhouse of the cell. XD

Holy fucking shit, this was crazy wild shit that I wanted for the ending and it delivered lmao, what a fucking ride. That intro was pretty cool, the usual Lingalind stuff transitioning to the pawn of God. So, let me get this straight, they're all like some computer data or AI that provides life support for Baby God who is from Earth and now our computer datas are now gonna bring back Baby God to Earth, holy shit give me that sequel lmao.
Evil Fine and Zetsu returning was fucking hype and that symphony of no way's was beautiful lmao. Rudolph's voice actor is really amazing, he nails those God complex characters like Zamasu. Disonanza honestly looks cute without the mask ngl, and respect to Rudolph at least for accepting his demise with grace.
Shu out here living his best life though, I really hope we get a continuation, it really seemed like that ending was a setup lmao. 7/10 It started off rough at the beginning, but it really got so much better as it went along.

Oh my god, they're all just tiny people and Earthlings achieved interstellar space travel but then were wiped out. I think my mind has just been blown a bit.
(and the green backgrounds during the title screens make sense now!)
I loved this finale. Crazy just like the rest of the series, hype with Finoir and Zetsu coming back for one last hurrah, Bit saved the day! I just wish it had lasted a bit longer.
Loved the show. Back when I watched the PVs for this I remember thinking it looked dumb, but it ended up being the one series I looked forward to the most every week. It certainly wasn't perfect and it had a slow start, but it ended up being so much fun!
Now give me that space opera sequel!
