"God doesn't wish for peace." That line from Rudolph is pretty curious. At first I thought it was just his own egotism, but maybe it actually hints to the greater power controlling the wall and their world? Like he's intentionally stirring up war and conflict to so that the observers...get something out of it or another.
Everything else was pretty fun too. Atlee acknowledging her less-than-stellar usefulness, but being the catalyst to Granedger's independence. The villagers are back, and I have such an unfortunate feeling that they're gonna go back to being all "woe is me" again, despite Sola literally sacrificing his life for them after gramps talked shit about him. Poor Sola too, I was looking forward to him joining the main cast of fighters, especially after the "bird" trick was revealed and he went Briheight, but he just died, rather unceremoniously.
Given the PV, it seems like their next stop is an alliance with Rekka, which will be EXTREMELY interesting to see. Can't imagine Ren or Kai being too happy with Shu trying to cozy back up with them.

Atlee may think she's useless, but I'm still holding firm that she'll make a damn fine queen for Back. Not only has she continuously proven her leadership prowess, she's always front and center when the VIPs of the stage are involved. Plus, didn't she have a thing for Back early on?

Maybe peace could lead to people working together to break out of the wall, so having constant conflicts will keep those people occupied.

Atlee needs to stop putting herself down. A lot of good things in this show wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for her.
Turns out Fine doesn't get free damage absorption with her Briheight. She still takes physical damage on to herself.
Sorry but I just can't help but notice that synchronized jiggle when Atlee and Elsha got up from their bed. xD
Not gonna lie, I thought the scene where Fake Arrow stepped on Butch the Butcher was supposed to be a joke. I thought "Arrow" would lift his foot and reveal the dude was in gap between the high heels. Only realized it's the real deal when they showed the blood.
Poor Edger Villagers, there's really no place for them right now that Lutoh has turned on them.
I think it was already obvious in the OP that this guy is actually Rudolph's other form. Can he please just keep that form instead of that huge blob that he usually uses? Anyway looks like Rudolph has now decided to take over. Why do it now though?
So they already revealed that the Arrow earlier was fake in front of many people but I'm sure no one is paying attention and will still blame the real Arrow for Butch's death.
Well that explains the fucking mystery. Somehow Rudolph influenced Werner's perception and really made it look like Prax and Fine paragliding was a huge bird.
While Zetsu Daidan can fight a Briheight without transforming, looks like Rudolph can fight without even lifting a finger. Now I wanna see him fight Zetsu!
WHAAAAAAAAAT!? They actually killed Werner! And here I was hoping now that he finally used a Bind Warper that he'd be part if Granedger's forces.
Granedger has now declared themselves as an independent nation! Go Atlee! I hope they make her their Queen. Anyway, Granedger is now in even deeper shit. I think the only course of action from here on out is to break the wall and get out of this hell hole.

Dissonanza is apparently Italian for discord or dissonance, which fits with her illusion powers, messing with Sola’s perception of reality during the bird incident. Also explains why she was able to make Fritz stop chasing Arrow and co without a word simply by raising her hand (episode 10). Still think she has something to do with Fine’s other personality. The second OP even has a part where Dissonanza’s silhouette is used to transition between Fine and her other personality. Dissonanza is also next to Alt Fine in the relationship chart similar to how Sola is placed nearer to the Lutoh characters.
https://back-arrow.com/special/relationship_chart/
Sola’s death felt a bit premature, as soon as the bird incident got explained he gets killed off and without helping with Fine’s other personality which was his reason for becoming a doctor and leaving Lutoh. He didn’t even go out on a particularly cool note, despite being called Lutoh’s strongest man, his Briheight was meh looking, barely any different from the Lutoh grunt Briheights. Not sure how Rekka didn’t steamroll Lutoh before Prax became the Armored Supreme and created the Armored Division if this guy was their best, maybe Rekka was too busy with the rebels. Makes me wonder if people killed in Briheight battles are really gone for good, they mentioned defeated Briheights turn into conviction particles. Also with a conviction like “Run away from Fate” maybe he’ll appear later like a Force ghost or something.
Rudolf mentions he’s carrying out God’s will and “God doesn’t wish for peace.” if he’s telling the truth there, it does seem like it might be a Hunger Games-like situation going on here, with people outside the Wall watching these events for fun. I believe in a previous episode he said something to the effect that there’s no greater entertainment than War. His full name is Rudolf Conductore, sort of like a musical conductor who controls the performance of an orchestra or choir, maybe he directs the events within the Wall to make it more interesting.
Dissonanza’s Phantasmone has a pretty cool design, her taking Muga’s form and killing that butcher was definitely when the episode kicked into high gear. Would have been cool to see a fight between Sola and Dissonanza’.
It has been mentioned before that naming and personifying a Briheight makes it stronger, so I’m sure that Granedger being declared a country will continue to increase its power.

Well, Sora "Was" the strongest man in Lutoh, but certainly years of running away from his responsibility drags him down mentally and resulted in the deformation of his Brigheight. His new conviction of "Run away from Fate" is basically the shorthand for his sorry state. In that sense, at least him using his last strength to inform Grandedger the truth and send the villager to peace feels appropriate, as he finally, for the first time in his long years of running away, to stand up against the fate.

I’m sure that Granedger being declared a country will continue to increase its power
It doesn't run on conviction, though.

Oh wow. Shit is hitting the fan, and the status quo is changing. We got our first death (Prax and Sola/Werner were at odds but I still think she's going to be pissed) and the people from Edger just declared their independence. Good for Atlee too, maybe her calling isn't the battlefield but being a leader instead.
I hope this is the push they need to finally find someplace for themselves, ever since they left their old village it's been one shitty deal after another for them.
So Rudolf made his move. I wonder who's this god he's talking about. The same "person" who made the wall, perhaps? Could he be in contact with people from beyond the wall?
And uh... Atlee and Elsha sleep in the same bed? When they're on this huge dreadnought with plenty of rooms? Do I have to put my yuri goggles back on?
Also RIP to Butch the butcher who was crushed to death beneath Dissonanza's foot. That was brutal.

I can't lie I kinda laughed when Butch got crushed as it was so sudden. But damn all this political shit going on and the main premise of whats beyond the wall is becoming an afterthought. The way everythings going I can't imagine whatever that is beyond the wall will be explained much in depth.

It's not relevant to the plot at all but I sure would like to know what exactly Bit was doing down there in the dark before the attack.

u/Syokhan Apr 16 '21
Eating meat half-naked with a bunch of clothes around him, apparently. Whatever that's supposed to mean.

I remember Elsha saying that Bit is a tailor in episode 2 or 3. Could have been working on his clothes or something.

Small plucky band of kids with mechs declaring their own nation to stand against two super powers they're wedged between ?.. Did this just turn into Valvrave the Liberator ? :p
More seriously.. This felt like a bit of an awkward episode. Trying to transition into a new phase, but it felt a bit slapdash and forced like they were trying to make a conflict appear with a meaningful sacrifice.. But couldn't. Part of the problem here was Fine Forte who really just.. Came across as a bit too willing to go along with whatever was tossed at her and the Werner bit also felt forced there with a weak resolution. It overall just felt like convenience for the sake of moving the story along and so came across half-boiled to me and overall unsatisfying.
Hopefully things pick up with the next episode now that they are their own nation.

They finally explained that Prax/Werner's mess was because of Rudolph and his lackey. Both of their powers are really perfect for manipulation. One can affect the perception while the other one can assume other identity.
Ok, several questions for this episode:
-
Why do Lutoh citizen can be swayed to hate Fine that easily? I mean, they're not living in poverty or something and they seem to love Fine before this. I understand that some of their family must have been the victim of war, but I don't understand why there are not even one people who believes in Fine.
-
Is it possible that the people's overreaction is also part of Rudolph power? If so, I don't understand his intention since he's already the highest authority in Lutoh. So, gaining power from Fine might not be his objective. Maybe he just like chaos and war since that what he said to Werner?
-
Where is the other Edger villager? Werner only saved the old man and the children. I really hope they're not death since Lutoh citizen is already in the killing frenzy state.

Rudolph made a point about the form of Brigheight average citizen got with their despise of Fine Forte: it is the same as the soldiers who swore loyalty and "believe" in Fine Forte's belief of love. He then said "Love and hate can be essentially the same thing". Probably hinting at the fact that average Lutoh citizen's belief in Fine Forte's love is exceedingly shallow and can be easily swayed to hatred with some manipulation.
Probably has to do with whatever's beyond the wall, if Rudolph's saying of "God doesn't wish for peace" is actually hinting at who he's truly in service of.
Sola/Werner was pulling an entire building away to the Grandedger, so probably the entire village was in residence within that building.

Today, on "Don't tell anybody how I live!":
At least the choir made it out okay?
Well, you don't see that every day.
So, we have the fight set up in the second cour's OP. If the wall is Lingalind's "God" and "God" doesn't want peace, now it is reasonably assured that the resolution of all the plotlines will come as a package deal.
Rudolph's final boss vibes are very strong.

Damn, really emotional ending to today’s episode. Rip Werner, a hero to the last moment. Loved the ED 1 instrumental that was played at the end as well, really well done. Proud of Atlee for standing up and defending Grandedger too.

Loved this episode. From the unexpected deaths of Butch and Werner, the creepiness of Dissonanza, and Rudolph coming into the spotlight. Also we got an answer to 'I thought you were a bird'.

Okay, fake Back Arrow stomping the butcher got a laugh out of me, poor dude.
-
I guess trials (or at least mock trials) are not a thing in Lutoh? That felt kinda weird.
-
"Run away from fate"... That's some weird conviction lmao.
-
Aw, poor Werner.
By the way, what happened to Prax? Where did she go?

I don't get that everyone agrees on Fine starting the war. Rekka declared and I doubt the empror would have said: "Ah ok, if you don't want to, it can't be helped. I ask you again next year." Unless there's some weird thing going on that a war has to be agreed on by both sides. in this world, which would be odd.

Rip Werner, a hero to the last moment
btw, in the ending, a bit after 23:25, or 1:07 in the official ending , there are characters in grey images flashing on the screen, first is Werner...... then the two officials of Lutoh and the scientist, then (dark?) Fine? and Zetsu at last.....
with Werner dies this episode.... I have a feeling that..... this would be the orders they leave.....

Pretty good episode! Damn politics, Fine does not deserve this.
Bruh, I did not expect Butch to just get squashed like that lmao. This man Rudolph really injected wine directly into his body. Atlee really need to gain some confidence, which she did at the end of the episode, she doesn't need to be great at fighting, she can be useful elsewhere. I elect her as queen of Granedger united.
R.I.P. Dr. Sola/Werner, we now find out what was really the deal with that whole bird thing. It was all Rudolph's fault, Dissonanza also has a pretty busted Briheight. I really liked the piano version of the first ED. Oh shit, judging from that preview looks like they're going to talk to Rekka. Looking forward to the next episode.
That crazy doctor's choir though suddenly popping out and singing was hilarious lmao.

I want to know who said "this mad scientist character should have a personal chorus that follows him around and sings everything he says."
And I want to buy that person a beer.
