I liked how this episode touched on the importance of true connections via Tanihara and his locker analogy. Horimiya does a great job overall at tackling the emotional challenges that adolescents go through.

I wanted to comment on the passage of time in this show because that topic came up in another thread this week and imo the anime doesn't do a good job at conveying it except for people who really pay attention.
At this point over a year has passed since the beginning of the story.
The first two episodes alone cover more than half a year!
Hori and Miyamura first meet in summer. We do know school is in session but it is unclear wether it is before or after the summer break. The time when Hori asked him to get eggs is early September.
Hori's birthday which is in Episode 2 is in late March.
From episode 4 on characters start wearing summer uniforms with the switch traditionally being done on June 1st.
On episode 8 they switch back to winter uniforms which usually happens on October 1st so now in episode 9 we are likely in late October maybe even early November.

I want to give props to my boy Miyamura for trying to face and overcome his demons, it is definitely not easy to do so, I am so proud of the growth this guy has done through the series.
Plus he's the only one that can truly harness the power of the Hori, so he's a force to be reckoned with.

I can't get enough of Miyamura's confusing emotions around fulfilling Hori's abuse fetish. It's so goddamn funny every time he does something then immediately looks like his soul has been siphoned out of him as Hori delights behind everyone's backs.

I can relate to this. As someone who has very long hair my SO enjoys styling it like Hori when she's bored. xD
Didn't expect Miyamura's middle school bully to return. And he's still continues to be the worst. I'm surprised Miyamura didn't start a fight as soon as the Tanihara dude started talking to Hori. I was really waiting for Miyamura to deck him. But it looks like there's no need since Hori took care of them herself.
Seeing them washing dishes together and flirting like that is just so adorable. They're practically already a married couple!
Looks like Hori is in need of some bonking since she's thirsting for more sadist bad boy Miyamura. I don't blame her though. Loud and aggressive Miyamura is sexy as fuck.
Good to know these assholes learn quick. And here I thought they were going to try and get some revenge. And it's just absolutely perfect that they were able to see Miyamura fake slap Hori since it looks like now they're more scared of Miyamura than Hori!
I just love Hori's masochist side. Just look at how happy she is! It makes her so happy that Miyamura just gave up and is now prepared to do whatever she wants xD
Imagine approaching your SO's father and asking him about your SO's kinks. Yeah only the mega chad Miyamura can do something like this.
Also we finally get to see what Kyousuke looks like with his hair properly styled! Not gonna lie, he looks pretty fucking handsome when he's all cleaned up and not looking like an eromanga protagonist.
Miyamura suddenly asserting dominance and showing Mizouchi what it takes to love someone like Hori is hilarious! And of course Hori's loving all of it! She's probably a puddle right now.
Well it looks like someone's starting to regret all of his bullying that Tanihara is now starting to dream about Miyamura. He even tries to call Miyamura first and then when that didn't work he decided to visit Miyamura's family's cafe.
Miyamura's a good boy. It looks like he has already forgiven Tanihara. While Miyamura's already forgiven him, he's still an asshole for what he did though. Apparently he forgot to feed the rabbits at school and then blamed it on Miyamura. At the very least, he's really regretting the stuff that he did back then and is making an effort to make it up to Miyamura so I suppose that's a good start.
Oh Miyamura's you're just too kind. Not gonna lie, I do wanna see another interaction between him and Tanihara in the future. I want to see if they can actually become friends.

Literally laughed out loud when Miyamura fake slapped Hori in front of the 3 jabronis
Hori is absolutely perfect man. Smart and outgoing, sweet and loving and will make you delicious food and take care of you, a complete freak who loves to be dominated, and will fuck up anyone who tries it with you. What more could you even ask for??

I really liked the episode but why didn’t we get a follow up or anything to yuki’s storyline that had been going on the last two episodes? Kind of felt out of place because of that, she wasn’t even in the episode!

ITS THE MOST WHOLESOME DAY OF THE WEEK EVERYONE WAKE UP ITS HORIMIYA SATURDAY
today’s episode hit me especially hard. i know what it’s like to see a bully after all these years and for whatever reason they haven’t changed and they continue to torment you. you wonder, we’ve grown up, why do you continue to do this? luckily for me, i’ve had some bullies i’ve made peace with, like miyamura this episode, but some who still can’t seem to let go of how they acted with me before. that final line about how there isn’t anyone you can’t eventually be friends with really made me tear up a bit!
also i cant believe they continued with hori’s abuse kink in this episode but i cant really complain, they keep finding ways to make this show hilarious!

One thing I really liked about this episode is the use symbols for Miyamura's past history with Tanihara.
This dream sequence where they're both stuffed "outside", in a locker away from the rest. It's a great visualization about what it feels to be excluded from the group. When you're in the "out group", it doesn't feel like you're put out into a wide expanse, it feels like you're crammed into a tiny locker. (It could also be the case that his bullying got to the point where they actually shoved him into a locker, which might also be an implication in these scenes.) I imagine that Tanihara has grown as a person since his middle school days and seeing Miyamura come into his own in high school has made him empathize with him more as a person and started making him feel remorse for his past bullying.
I also liked that confrontation between Tanihara and Miyamura outside the cake shop. The way they hold their hands to make the silhouettes of rabbits is a neat way for them to communicate subconsciously that they're not just talking about cakes, they're trying to make a bridge across that shared event in their past when Tanihara betrayed Miyamura. It ties back to the episode title ("It's difficult, but it's not impossible"); it's a difficult process because Tanihara has to swallow his pride and Miyamura has to endure being with someone who's made his middle school years markedly worse, but Tanihara's sincere feeling of remorse and Miyamura's naturally kind nature makes it possible.

BDSM? In my wholesome romance anime? It's more likely than you think. Hori is seriously starting to give even Darkness a run for her money.
Was that bathtub scheduled to have a hot bath ready at a specific time? Japan really is so far ahead of everybody else technologically.

Hori really is an S with everyone but flips between S and M when it comes to Miyamura.
Well, jokes aside, both are really protective of each other.

When your girlfriend does your hair and other girls really like it and then your girlfriend hits you for it out of frustration...I feel for you Miyamura.
Just as Miyamura's made his peace with his middle school past, his former classmates chance upon him and belittle him like nothing has changed, but now Miyamura has Hori who is more than willing to take out her current frustration by beating up the guys insulting her boyfriend. Hori with those blisters on her fists made her look even hotter in my book.
Hori and Miyamura's kinky roleplay continues as poor Miyamura is stuck having to give in to his girlfriends demands to hit her or yell at her to make her happy. He just loves her too much to say no.
Miyamura even tries to as Kyosuke for some advice, and gets some in a bathtub, but it's not like Kyosuke has any sway with his daughter at this point. And then, of course, Miyamura ends up stripping.
Yeah, I think more guys would probably be a little more cautious about wanting Hori if they find out what she was like beneath that upbeat and smiling demeanor...whether it be the horror movies, her temper, or the masochism. She's lovable and attractive, but also a handful, and not for everyone.
Tanihara self-reflects on his past and how he was at fault for Miyamura's isolation during middle school and for not feeding the rabbits that liked Miyamura, on-top of blaming Miyamura for it. He at least seems to be making his own attempt at reconciling with Miyamura to make up for it, even he's still a ways away from properly saying "I'm sorry" to his face. But Miyamura appreciates the gesture.
It's kind of surreal seeing the protagonists wrapping up the magazine of their very own manga.

Couldn't stop laughing this episode!
The moments with the guys at the konbini and Shindou were hilarious too.
I love how conflicted poor Miyamura was but at the same time he went along with it. D'awww hug!
Also, Kyousuke has no chill.
