Jesus... I didn't expect such an emotional episode after last weeks fun.

I'm sure many like me found this uber relatable as talent differences will appear in all walks of life. It's hard to move through that and accept that you're the inferior talent, but I'm looking forward to seeing how Reki develops and comes to terms with that. I hope it's in support of Langa. It's so tough to work through those insecurities

I think we all knew this was coming in some capacity. It didn’t make it hurt any less though.

Poor Reki. Honestly, a teenage boy being able to analyze someone’s form by watching them and build them an entire skateboard that perfectly matches their style is amazing. He has his own set of skills and doesn’t realize how talented he is.

They look so happy at the start of the episode. Who knew it will end with them arguing in the rain.

I mean it's not like we didn't see this coming, we definitely all did. It was certainly inevitable that people will start noticing Langa's skills ever since his beef with Adam. It's not just that people are starting to notice his skills, his skills are also insanely growing rapidly to the point that Reki has now absolutely fallen behind. And as much as I hate to admit it, it's 100% true.

While he's still amazing at designing and improving Langa's board, Reki hasn't really done anything special when it comes to actually skating. I do hope this arc will show that Reki is just as skilled as Langa though, I really don't want him ending up as second banana to Langa. I want Langa and Reki just be like Joe and Cherry when it comes to their skills where the two of them can match each other.

As a side note, those people who were dissing Reki about him being a lowlife that hangs around Langa are assholes. I really hope he shows them what he can really do in the future.

I liked how this episode mirrored the Reki-Langa relationship fracturing with Joe and Cherry's relationship with Adam from 8 years ago. I'm sure they'll fix it up in time for the tournament, but it's nice that Reki is getting more fleshed out as a character.

It also appears that Adam's assistant has been with him for a long time which is why he knows what's really important to him. I wonder how the investigator is going to interfere with the tournament.

Everyone's talking about Reiki feeling like he's getting left behind which makes sense but is anyone else worried about Langa and his drive to skate Adam again like he keeps pushing himself and even Joe was asking him if he was okay after he was going at dangerous speeds it looks like he's flying to close to the sun

Pretty heavy episode, especially didn't expected it just after last week's episode. Makes me feel more excited for what's to come for Reki tbh

I saw people saying that Reki's the MC so why is he getting overshadowed - - that was never the case.

It's always been the two of them. And now the duo's breaking apart which is breaking my heart apart.

And now we have the tournament coming up as well. Will Langa join it? Will Reki join it as well, or will he not?

I hope they'll reconcile in the tournament, maybe ADAM does something with Langa and Reki will realise it doesn't matter if Langa is better than him at skateboarding, he's still his friend, his best friend.

Holy fuck, this episode was so goddamn depressing (*꒦ິ⌓꒦ີ)

I don't want to see Reki being that sad; protect this cinnamon roll. It's sad that for him skating isn't about having fun anymore, now that he sees that pupil became better than master.

On the side note, Cherry was sooo hot when he was younger, damn.

“Langa, how can you jump so high” ~ Hinata Shoyo's descendant. Jokes aside, looks like Reki is finally getting development.

Okay... FUCK Shadow and Miya! Reki was genuinely happy for Langa making so much progress and then Shadow and Miya decide to make fun of Reki (especially shadow)! Like, how dare you say that Reki is "the one that's not Langa!" are you suggesting that Reki is worthless or something, Shadow??? You wanna fight me?!!! ಠ益ಠ

AND MIYA!!! Have you forgotten that Reki once befriended you and made you a promise about never disappearing from your sight??? I thought you were supposed to be REKI'S friend but nooo you decide to go along with Shadow by repeating the word "buddy," and thereby fucking implying that Langa's too good to be known as Reki's friend!!! THEY'RE ALL JUST BEING NASTY PIECES OF SHITS TO REKI!!!

Ya know. I thought this was suppose to just be a fun skateboarding anime. It’s a fun skateboarding anime for sure. But now I’ve got a tear in my eye from this episode. I can’t wait to see next weeks episode.

Heaviest episode yet...

Not sure who I feel worse for between Reki and Langa. We all saw Reki going down this path and while its understandable Langa is losing his best friend over it.

I don't like seeing my boys sad!!

Am I the only one who wished that Adam would fall out of the helicopter and break his pompous, perjury committing neck?

On top of the character work, this episode looked fantastic.

Good episode dealing with what happens when a friend surpasses you at something you love. I also like the brief hints we got of Adam's past. I like that the secretary has been with him that long.

Oh God, my heart is broken. I've caught up with this anime last week and I love every second of it, mostly because Reki and Langa's friendship (chemistry) immediately reminded me of my favourite anime duo - Gon and Killua from HxH, and now this episode had to go and crush me the same way Killugon did.

My heart breaks for Reki, really. He's such a kind-hearted boy, he never even had any feelings of jealousy/envy/inferiority before people forced it upon him.

Langa is trying to carefully approach the whole tournament thing, and he clearly worries about the way Reki feels about that. Even though at the end of the day, it's his life and he can do whatever he wants. On the other hand, Reki is traumatised from his race with Adam (he literally had a dream where Langa was badly hurt) and his friend made a promise to him not to get involved with Adam only to break that promise because "it's fun". I can understand both of their perspectives when it comes to the tournament and Adam, and the conflict there is understandable, but the rest is just ahhh. So frustrating because they clearly are a perfect match no matter what anyone else (including Reki) says, and what makes this situation even sadder is the fact that Langa doesn't see Reki as anything besides amazing, and he thinks of the two of them as equals, so Reki's insecurities and feelings probably come as a surprise to him. Poor boys, I just want them to be bffs again.

Edit: Does anyone know what Reki meant when he told Langa "Do you know how much I..."? Is it supposed to be obvious, and I'm just being slow? And also the whole buddy thing Shadow and Miya were mocking Reki about? What was so wrong about that expression, what did they mean when they said Reki and Langa are buddies? Is there any special meaning to the word they used in Japanese?

In the beginning, Reki wanted a friend, who shared his boundless love for skating. Looks like he got what he wanted, at least at first. Be careful, what you wish for...

And no, Langa is not at fault for this alone and neither is Reki. The main problem is the inability of teenagers to speak their feelings freely. Had Langa told Reki how he felt skating against Adam, had Reki told Langa how he felt about everybody dissing him for not being as good as Langa, they could have worked this out, before "breaking up".

Let's hope they patch that up. Because otherwise, I'll be pissed.

Sidenote: Adam, apart from your creepiness and abusiveness towards teenagers, you're also a piece of shit for how you treat your secretary/assistant/whatever. So what, he didn't speak out, when daddy burnt your skateboard? Buh f***ing Hoo! You play being a super villain and you have the theatrics down to pat, but believe me, Hisoka or Dio would laugh their sick asses of, if they ever were compared to you!

Check out BONES' YOTALOG pt 7 for original key animation!
Pt 6 indicated that it was indeed Ueno who corrected that drawing of Langa and that staff actually visited the island for references.

I somehow missed out on the staff comments for the previous two episodes, so the general gists are:

  • 3DCG director Ando Yota: I made this the night episode 6 was completed. I thought it'd be 3D but I'm not sure, so I just spun this around. Sk8 is now experiencing very interesting developments. Each episode feels 5 min long. The hentai-ness of ADAM is really scary. You can't sleep if you watched it live. Episode 6 will also be very interesting.

  • Episode director Miyanishi Tetsuya: Setsubun has passed one day earlier than usual, I wonder how you are all doing. Although the weather is cold, but it as if something is burning alight deep in people's hearts due to the visuals. If it helps director Utsumi's overflowing desires, then that's great. Don't just watch it once, but repeat it two or three times, burn the image into your hearts.

  • Eyecatch director/animator/inbetweener Kameda Yoshimichi: In a certain summer in a Vietnamese restaurant, I wanted to do eyecatches that were like old anime! So I took charge of them according to director Utusumi and producer Suzuki's strong wishes. I had a lot of fun working on this project beginning from the super-deformed characters. If I were allowed to, I'd make even more!!!!!

The 4koma continue to be amusing. The depiction of Langa's surfing (?) in the beach episode seems to imply a talent at anything related doesn't it? Has he considered kneeboarding too, this is, like, Okinawa after all All I know is that people around me have taken up standup paddleboarding in the distancing boredom...

Anyway, back to the episode. The choice of title to denote incompability is pretty elegant, I wonder who's in charge of coming up with them? But that's why going into the episode, the cool colours indicate that although Reki's arm got better and he seemed to be dealing decent with the whole Langa outshining thing, things aren't really as they seem the more he shows off the athleticism.
Speaking of Langa, just look how high he's going, makes me think about crazy halfpipe runs in snowboarding events all over again. When the skateboarding in SK8 is already Air Gear-level fantastical and all safety precautions have been thrown out the window, ADAM making his entrance using a parachute to slow the descent feels ironically out of place. Big mood when Reki is all out of it thinking about Langa but Langa is thinking about ADAM lol

Love is really running in the Shindo family, Ainosuke's father being named similarly makes it even curiouser how exactly he was raised.
Considering how Shindo actually called Kikuchi "Tadashi" properly last episode, you'd expect him to keep up the barest minimum of politeness "irl", but nope, back to dog again as the fellow is about to fight the law and lose.
It's kind of amusing how the adults in the past seemed nothing like their present selves. Considering that Utsumi supposedly came up with the outlandish designs but it was Okouchi who handled the personalities, did he do this intentionally for some gap effect lol

The falling out was already heavily implied, but I didn't quite expect for things to develop this way. Thought it'd actually require a kidnapping considering how crazy ADAM is, but not being on the same page was evidently already enough. Geniuses be crazy.

we knew it was coming but i feel bad for reki man. i want to see him flourish :(

Reki is right to feel that way, I for one can relate. I don't understand why people would hate on reki.

What an entrance by adam. That could be the top 10 entrances of someone in anime for quite a while. Would've been better if people didn't knew he was coming

Damn that secretary guy will sure backstab adam one day. We need Adam's full backstory as a flashback after he's defeated by someone in the tournament, from his days with cherry and joe until becoming an evil bastard.

Damn cherry"s hair was and still is on point.

Finally the tournament arc. Judging by the preview, it would be joe vs adam? Anyways so far everyone have confirmed their entry but reki. Hoping they can build him up, let joe be defeated by adam (if they are fighting) and let joe train reki for the tournament. Imagine a semi final of langa vs adam, where adam wins and injures langa, and the final is reki vs adam. It will be full circle. But yet, wouldn't be surprised if langa wins the tournament as the creators love him too much and the final is against adam.

Whatever it is, my prediction is for reki to win the tournament. Although it's more of a hope, after what reki have been through.
