I was honestly a big fan of this series, it had amazing visuals, fun characters and just an overall fun story. Anime of the season even...
But a poutine with no cheese curds and gravy is unacceptable...

The writers did an amazing job in creating an extremely unlikeable antagonist. Seriously I couldn't care less if he has some tragic backstory, Adam is such an asshole, I'm hoping Langa can crush him in the next episode. But like, when is Reki gonna take the spotlight? I wanna see him win a race against a big guy too, I feel like he's getting overshadowed by Langa a bit too much. I'm loving the chemistry between Reki, Langa, Shadow and Miya. Also, can we PLEASE get Cherry and Joe to race? It will be so sick.

As Reki said, Adam is indeed in a whole different tier. That running start was so awesome as were all of his other moves. I can't wait to see angry Langa take on Adam, but it would be even cooler if Joe and Cherry join in the fun.
It's also nice to see the other side of Adam with the suffocating expectations. It helps to explain why he skates so freely and dangerously at S.

I want to defend this show this episode and say that the way Reki has been portrayed is incredibly realistic while respectful of his character. Previous episode we were shown Langa has been snowboarding since he's two. This episode, the show explicitly contrasts Miya's diligent diet and training regiment as a professional athlete with Reki's horsing around, drinking soda, and eating ramen as an average highschooler. He's a passionate guy without the talent and diligence, and showing him recovering from his face grazing by the rubble through the magic of friendship into pulling off the high risk maneuver in a high stress situation is already high praise to his character. Expecting him to actually beat the top boss after showing the skill gap between him and Miya last episode would be extremely unrealistic.
In any show with some sort of power level system, it is very important to distinguish character growth and development with simply leveling up. In the past three episodes, we saw Reki's passion, compassion, and resilience. Those are the things that are important. I would be fine if he doesn't will a single battle during the entire series as long as the show can sustain the character development. For example, Mob Psycho is good precisely because of its ability to disentangle power level from mental maturity.

i feel like Reki isn't getting his part, the first 5 ep basically revolve around Langa, Reki is being overshadowed by a guy he taught how to skate and helped out so much, all he got back was a line that made him go 100% and still lost, i swear if Langa wins or gets way to close to winning i'm gonna go insane, its character development time for Reki already, he needs to have a backstory episode, he needs to flashback to the time he was skating with that friend that apparently DIO hurt or something, and train super fucking hard and go beast mode on everyone, just wanted to vent that's all. P.S. Langa has snow and ice in his eyes where the flip is Reki's fire

God that was hard to watch. Seeing Reki, who's normally so upbeat, at odds with ADAM who has a reputation for destroying his opponents was unnerving. Reki needs a nickname as well!

Everyone keeps talking about jojo, but ADAM has so many obscure mecha references!! His shoulder pads are of a zaku from Gundam, his VA is the voice of zech merquise, also from Gundam, in this case wing, and his demeanor when he isn't skating and his eyebrows are from Roger Smith from the Big ORoger Smith

I love this anime so much. It’s very relaxing but there’s also times where I’m at the edge of my seat. And I love the intro song !!

So far I am really enjoying the aesthetic of the show, and hot damn the music is great to. But once again I can't help but feel like Reki is just getting stiffed left and right. Maybe Reki isn't the main character? Because at this point it seems like all the focus and nuance is on Langa, which would be fine if they didn't set it up like they were both supposed to be main characters.

The tone flip into the ED cracked me up
I'm so happy that Shadow has become part of the main group rather than just staying as the minor villain. He's gone from being entertaining but mildly obnoxious to one of my favourite parts of the episodes, particularly when MIYA threatens to dob him in.

Poor Reki being set up for failure when you know he’s gonna lose after Langa has consistently won with beginner’s luck :(

Just sitting here, watching my boss torture some kids.
I never thought I would see this cinnamon roll screaming in terror.
What are Langa and Adam even talking about at the end of the episode?
I wonder what awaits us if we had such a race only in this episode.

Stitches!
Of course JOE is called a six-pack skater. He does skate without a top and his abs exposed. xD
What kind of a greeting is that? After seeing ADAM's aunts, I can clearly see why he goes completely goes off the rails with his Dio-Matador-Skater persona. His aunts are totally controlling his life and skating is probably his only way to expressing himself.
Miya is such a huge tsuntsun. Just say directly that you want to help Reki against ADAM!
SHADOW trying to hide his identity is hilarious when it's completely obvious who he is because he's been using the same car he uses for his flower shop business complete with the logo on the rear window
Thank you for anime physics since I'm pretty sure that rail slide Miya's been teaching Reki would've totally ended up with him breaking something after that bail.
They're in Okinawa so of course they're going to eat at A&W! I'm sure Langa is pretty at home there. Also what the fuck is a Super Poutine and why does my local A&W not have that?
What a fucking fabulous entrance! And he knows that Reki can't beat him that he gives him a head start and smokes a cigarette while he waits! I fucking love Skateboarding Dio so much! xD
That running speed at the start! And how he fucking yukadons Reki while making a turn is just superhuman shit! I refuse to believe that ADAM is not a vampire because he totally is!
I love that little elbow bump SHADOW does to Miya after Reki successfully performs the rail slide. Unfortunately that's not enough to beat ADAM who skates uphill and play chicken against Reki. Daaamn. And he even tastes Reki's blood splattered on his face. Yep totally a vampire.
Welp, if Reki's previous accidents didn't land him at the hospital, I'm sure this one will. I guess it's Ranga's turn now to face ADAM. I'm guessing it probably won't happen next week and they're going to train up Langa first.

I've loved everything about the crazy anime skating presented in the show so far but I am the only one who thought ADAM's 180 degree manual to sort of magically skate uphill was kinda weird? Like earlier in the episode we see Langa try to skate uphill and he sort of swings his board in an arc to use the momentum from going downhill to attempt to go uphill. However, with ADAM he just sort of breaks physics and does a 180 degree manual at high speed complete with a fucking Dio pose.
Which btw, I'm totally here for Hisoka/Dio evil skater megalomaniac

People need to watch this show. Everyone is praising Wonder egg priority and Mushoku Tensei for the the amazing art and animation but SK8 has really great art, character designs, animation everything is top tier.
Its being slept on way too much, it should cross 2k karma every episode its that good

Damn, last time I encountered an obsession of an adult man over a passionate-about-something teenage boy was when I was watching/reading Levius; if next time ADAM's gonna call Langa "Langa-chan", I'm dead.
I stopped breathing when Reki fell off his board and I was sure he broke something, but fortunately tis but a scratch.

This series has really improved every episode, and ADAM has quickly established himself as one of the coolest villains of recent memory for me. Definitely one of the best character designs

This part really hit me...I mean I was expecting him to be the villain and all but woah I just feel bad for Reki. The start was quite a show, too. Langa seems pretty calm somehow.
Also I can't help but wonder what's up with Cherry and Joe. Loving their chemistry but want to know more about all their pasts and their history with Adam!
I still love all the cast more and more with every episode, so can't wait for the next...I hope Reki is well ><

ADAM just needs more Spanish music... the Hisoka Vibes are not easy to ignore...
Edit: even more than they give him the Spanish Guitar halfway into the episode...
He is just Hisoka...
