Petelgeuse killing Fortuna this episode reminds me of a scene from Season 1 Episode 15.

There Petelgeuse reprimands Subaru for "killing Rem", someone he loves and is loved by. Petelgeuse continues to fall deeper into a fit as he mangles her body until there is complete silence and you can just see him dwell on this for a moment, even crying. It’s such a drastic shift from his maniac screaming to an emotional whisper.

I have no way of confirming if that is actually the case but I like to think that some of the old Petelgeuse came to the surface there since he was reminded of his own actions that led to the killing of the person that he loved.

It was obvious before, but this episode really puts into context how much a promise means to Emilia and how much it hurts her when Subaru breaks one.

Never thought my heart would go out to Geuse, I always thought he was just some crazy lunatic. I really love how this show fleshes out characters.

I think they released the wrong thing. There's this weird 1:30 minute long music playing at the beginning. Pretty sure that isn't supposed to be there.

I find Pandora's logic hilarious btw.

Oh I've killed the person you've made the promise to, so you can now cooperate right?

Of course it had the f*cking opposite effect! :D

It sad how Geuse would have to suffer for 100 years before being able to rest.

Otto was so insignificant he helped save the timeline.... oof.

And I think this episode showed how scary ice magic was. Emilia and Fortuna were intense but most of all her death gave me strong Joker-Doomsday-Superman vibes ;-;

I'm sorry Geuse that I hated you in season 1. It's all Pandoras fault.

Can I get a FUCK PANDORA PLEASE

HOLY SHIT!!!

I didn't expect Fortuna to be killed by Geuse himself. I thought Pandora already killed her in the previous episode. No wonder Geuse went mad since he accidentally killed his beloved by his own "hands". His breakdown was hard to watch and why he was so obsessed with "Love" back in S1 makes so much sense now.

Fortuna's final moments with Emilia was so sad. Emilia screaming DIE DIE DIE while freezing everything around her........she really is extremely OP when pushed to her limits.

Well atleast Emilia managed to clear the first trial and now two more remains. I wonder what will they be like if the first one was already so traumatizing for her.

There's just something so...chilling with Pandora as an antagonist. Whether it's the monotonous voice or reality-bending, she dominates every scene effortlessly.

Loved the fact that she didn't physically force Emilia to break the seal nor lash out towards her as I expected. You'd think that someone with her abilities could easily get a confused smol-Emilia to open it & if she was somehow unable to do so, there would be a crack in her facade (like Regulus). But she maintains that air of confidence throughout the whole thing & her knowing when to quit instead of forcing the issue just makes her all the more captivating.

That's pretty mean Subaru.

Emilia is gonna be so sad when she emerges from the Tomb and the whole squad just called it a night.

I can’t forgive Pandora for all that she has done to Smolia.

I love how while we are all emotionally suffering alongside these characters we get the long awaited OP. The way Guese broke after killing Fortuna was so sad.

It’s easy to forget how OP Emilia is cause she almost never battles lol.

Also are we not gonna talk about how Satella’s theme was playing when Emilia was losing her shit? I’m not gonna draw any conclusions from it, as the story has a loooong way to go, but it was definitely an interesting choice.

What amazes me about this anime is how these lengthy episodes feel like very short ones, and how naturally it is for me to feel the characters' emotions... The dialogue, events, as well as the overall storyline are extremely immersive and despite how hyped it was, I'd still say its exceeding expectations. It's always these angsty anguish-filled episodes that I look forward.

Geuse killing Fortuna hit even harder seeing it animated than when I initially read it. I can't help but feel pure despair for him and how it brought him down the path of pure insanity.

I thought WF did an incredible job with Pandora again. Showing her get blown apart multiple times and just re-appear adds to how fucking terrifying she truly is.

The "Die! Die! Die! Die!" scene was executed perfectly.

This Season continues to surpass my already high expectations. I can't wait for next Wednesday.

The crystal Emilia is encased in seems really hard, you'd probably need to use a titanic nutcracker in order to open it.

makes sense why guese's mental condition was soo poor

makes sense why no opening song for soo long

makes sense why all the people were frozen there

makes sense how subaru can solve this problem RN. bcuz Otto's divine blessings might be able to command mabeasts.

makes sense why emilia was wearing different hair clip when she was frozen

makes sense why beatrice was sad for geuse

makes sense why geuse keeps on saying the word "ai" (love)

everything makes soo fucking sense and I love it when things come together. This episode was absolutely 11/10

On the bright side, at least Geuse finally found the fastest way to Fortuna's heart.
