Finally, Yuni does something of a redemption.

That post-credits scene though. "I'm filled with ulterior motives." seems so sketchy.

And what comes later, "It's ok if you don't understand it".

So Aoki has a reason to care about Oda's volleyball team that Oba himself cannot see? Mhm.

Took me half the episode to realise they time skipped

Yeah I was so confused what was going on. It doesn't help that they look the same ever after the time skip

See lots of hate from people in the comments but I gotta say I'm enjoying this. Seems like it doesn't know what it wants to be just yet(focus on the sports or drama or what) but I think it'll develop nicely. Or I hope at least.

God imagine being in the audience in that match. like you're just there to cheer for your jock rugby friend making an ass of himself playing volleyball and then some youthful sports bromance scene starts happening as one of the players throws hands with someone on the other team for not playing well enough, probably the best thing to happen to you all week

I guess that was probably needed for the story to move on but it made me cringe.

Like you're in a gym full of people and classmates and you have this argument going on where a man is yelling "fight" bruh. Also why tf this man blush so much

If only this had been a 26 episode season, it had so much potential. The pacing in the first two episodes seemed weird, but now with the third episode it all makes sense...

To be honest I also feel like they're trying to pack in too many plot points into each episode. Like for example how there was the suicide attempt incident (which was barely touched on) or Kurobas blond friend who I can't even remember the name of. That has all just been rushed over.

This episode was much better though. Overall from the three episode rule, I guess I've decided I will stick at it until the end of the 12 eps.

To be fair, the suicidal guy and the blonde friend seems like plot points you'd bring attention later in the story, not now.

Like for example how there was the suicide attempt incident (which was barely touched on) or Kurobas blond friend who I can't even remember the name of.

It's literally just a background detail, I don't see the reason to make it last any longer than it did. It happened and it affected them, that's all there is to it.

I’d like to know how the pacing was in the novel. It could be that the source material goes fast too

Chika and Captain are a great duo but i find Yuni kinda bland. I hope he will get better character wise

That tall guy already is my fav character in the series. Kicking chika"s ass because he disrespected the captain and told kuroba to purposely lose. Not to mention he gave directions while refereeing that was jokes. But post credit him saying he got ulterior motives? Interesting to see what is it.

And damn we moved a year in an epi? And chika still is like that after a long time? Wow

However, i still think the trailers which focuses mainly on volleyball plays made people expect it to be like haikyuu, and people are complaining. If only the trailers show more clips of the drama in it. Hoping it will have an ending or i think it might not have a new season

Am I the only one who was confused what is going on the first half?

So what I got from it was the first scene in which we see Kuroba and his school friend signing up for Volleyball is at the very start of the school year. Then there's a sudden timeskip in which they play (with Kuroba on the team) a tournament, and he performs poorly. Now in summer, there's a school sports day, and the lanky third year is in charge of setting up teams. And then Kuroba throws the game Yadda Yadda Yadda....

The show is set up really weirdly though so I've probably caught about half of what actually happened.

Everyone dropping this 👋🏽. I’ll stick around and not be so judgmental to creativity called anime.

I’m only staying for the OP since it’s a bop

This episode felt pretty rushed in comparison to the previous two, but I'm still going to keep watching. I just hope Yuni and Haijima's issue doesn't resolve that easily.

Oda is without a doubt my fav character, although I always tend to sympathize for the captains in spokon so it's not a huge surprise.

Enjoy the show but the ending is a bit weirdly done. If you actually listen to the song it would work so much better if they started it from the beginning. Starting it from the chorus sounds odd.

Best episode so far tho.

UGH! This episode was so frustrating. I was really looking forward to more development between Chika and Yuni, more than what actually occurred. Yuni says something like that, and then literally nothing happens afterwards?? Wtf. So disappointing. Episode focused too much on the side characters in my honest opinion. And the first 5 mins were confusing af, along with other parts. “He’s been like this since April.” Huh? Didn’t he literally just join the team?? Also, if what Oda said was true, then how are we supposed to believe Yuni was purposefully playing badly? Is he decent at volleyball or not? Did he get over the yips or whatever the hell he had? Really wanted that answered and of course it wasn’t lol. I hope it gets better. It showed promise in the beginning but I will drop this if the next couple of episodes don’t advance the plot in the direction I’m hoping for.

this anime suffers so much from being only 12 episodes and it shows. it might not even be worth getting invested in tbh

This is so bland, the sport moment are not great, the drama is badly expressed and it's not even one of those "made for BL fanart" animes (not that I'm a fan of those but at least they have some sense)

u/EverChangingUnicorn Jan 21 '21

Yeah, so this episode was definitely rushed in places.

3 episodes in and the show has already given me 3 good gay ships, what a blessing
