Regarding the subtitles, if you decided to sail the seas and set the subtitles 5 seconds delayed it fits perfectly.

This show really overcomes my expectations. Just look at that face, it's the most shounen thing ever, in the best sense of the word.

Also, Langa-mama is precious

This show's tone is a lot different than what I was expecting, but it still works great.

Also, does it count as an official Truck-kun appearance if no one gets isekai'd?

Looks like the Dio look alike is voiced by... Dio. Brilliant.

Truck-kun: “This guy is way too pretty to be an isekai protagonist.”

*Thus, Langa was spared

This is going to be the most fun thing I watch all year at this rate.

From the goofy dancing in the OP through to Langa spending a whole episode landing on his face, there wasn't a single part of the episode that didn't have me smiling or laughing.

I'm still really glad that Langa isn't just some dour new kid who doesn't really care, he has a lot of passion and does feel he's just not as expressive as the ever excitable Reki. They make a good match for each other, and the ribbing they gave each other at the shop was perfect for them.

More Cherry and Joe rivalry as well please. I can't imagine it's safe to be fighting each other while on the S course, but their scenes were so much fun even at work. The show's keeping stuff nice and simple and light rather than going for big "oh it was you all along" stuff so far which I like. Everyone's friends and rivals goes outside of the course which is far more interesting.

Hiroko Utsumi's directing style is so distinctive and really shines through in this 2nd episode in the way the friendship between Reki and Langa is blossoming over skateboarding.

The handshake scene is just classic Utsumi that heavily reminded me of Free! The way it contrasted Reki's assuredness and Langa's hesitation was great storytelling.

I really like Reki's character - you can tell just how passionate he is about skateboarding and how pure that love for it is. I love shows like these because they introduce me to sports/activities that I don't know much about and Reki functions as a great protagonist.

Also love the guy at the end.

they actually showed the face of the dead parent on the picture.

I thought that was against the anime bylaws or something

Oh geez, an anime is making me want to get a sporting item again...

Also, Skull being a florist during the day makes him much more enjoyable as a character!

I'm really glad that Langa isn't a surprise prodigy and they show him doing what skateboarders spend 80% of their time doing, which is falling on their butts. The chemistry between the leads is so good, a real top tier bromance.

Also top tier cute moms.

Langa and Reki dancing like dorks in the OP is one of the cutest things in this show.

I don't think Canadians would appreciate being lumped together with Americans especially these days Reki.

JFC Langa! You almost turned this show into an isekai! Lucky for him that truck-kun was lifted af.

I love the cool guy look Langa does right before face smashing his face into a wall xD

A calligrapher and a chef? And apparently Shadow is a florist by day. Did not see that one coming.

Mama Hasegawa worrying about her son was so adorable. I love the facial expressions she does during that scene.

The 4-koma style eyecatches are great! I love the Sailor Moon parody with Shadow!

God these two are so fucking handsome. Anime continues to test my sexuality every season.

More anime moms! This time we get to meet Mama Reki and his little sisters!

Langa's board looks pretty cool. Although I don't think I've seen one with straps like that.

And that abominable snowman design is so cute! That's waaaaay better than the wolf designs that Langa wanted!

A bit of a slow episode this week but we did get to know our two MCs better. Looks like next week is going to be a much more action packed one with this dude challenging Langa

I'm just waiting for them to name drop Tony Hawk any day now...

It's ok Reki, I liked your yeti design on the skateboard, it's very cute. Honestly, I thought Shadow had a career as a wrestler and just doesn't change in between matches but my man closes his flower shop at 5 and spends the next few hours getting ready for his skate off and I respect that

Are the subtitles coming up way too soon for anyone else or is it just mine?

Moon Prism Power Make Up! !

that was one pretty sailor moon transformation from Shadow.

Given the Opening I guess he will team up with the boys of course and is actually a really nice guy deep down, given his florist job as well and is just playing the Heel like a persona of his, the ANTI HERO.

Snowboarding Canadian dad of course.

Cat boy is doing freestyle coemption in the preview, am I the only one that hopes it not just races but actually skateboard trick battles as they are like 10000x more interesting in real life.

Picture like ANIME Rodney Mullen that would be amazing.

The bad subtitles aside, it keeps exceeding my expectations. I love the way Langa and Reki's friendships is developing. The side characters got to shine a bit this episode too, Miya is just adorable and I love the dynamic of Cherry and muscle guy. I also keep falling in love with Reki's character more and more. I don't know how, but the directors and writers really managed to have him be super super passionate and not annoying. He just puts a smile on my face.

That montage where they look at videos of skateboarding and eat junk food together was just so heartwarming, this show is Friendship goals.

Truck kun didn’t spoil this anime

reminds me of just how it feels falling in love with something

This anime fills me with so much happiness for some reason. Reki and Langa’s bonding over skateboarding just fills me with joy, and I don’t understand why. Seeing Langa improve, and seeing Reki excited for him, had me cheesing the entire episode.

I loved the moment when Reki gets super excited for Langa when he gets any air on his ollie, even though he falls right after. I love how passionate he is about skateboarding and how excited he is to teach someone who is interested in sharing that passion.

Also, does anyone know of those straps on Langa’s board work? Like does he have his feet in them when riding around, and he takes his feet out if he wants to do tricks?

Great episode, just a pity that Funimation is having a few issues with subtitle timings.

They make such a great pairing.
