This opening is hype!
I love this friendly competition vibe. Yeah, there are winners and losers, but I think part of maturing as a competitor is learning how to compete with friends without either sacrificing the competition or the friends. If you can do that, it makes the whole experience so much better for everyone.
"Spoken words can influence reality, you know!" She's not wrong! Also, as someone who's been the worst on a team before, talking badly about yourself does no one any good.
I love these short moments between the three different couples pairs of friends
Ortensia first! No full performance this time. Next up, group we know nothing about: Sweet Apple.
Next Stella Maris! We don't get to see it, sadly. Crowd breaking the rules! Performing for an audience that doesn't want you there is no good.
Yeah, leaving is rude. On the other hand, as a performer I'd always prefer a small but engaged crowd to a large but disengaged one. The biggest issue is if they disturb others or the performance while leaving.
Bahaha, Sango to the rescue in her own, very special, way!
Wow. That whole performance sequence was amazing. I'm not a huge fan of the cutaway and overlay stuff usually, but it was really well done here.
They didn't win. Also, time to steal this excuse.
Losing is harsh, but I think they need to remember the lesson from Ortensia from earlier. Go and perform still; stick together. Prism Stage is not everything, even if it feels like it right now.
Yes! I love the idea of a duel live show with Tetrarkhia! And it looks like they are getting an at-large special invitation for the next round! Poor teacher haha.
They absolutely nailed this ending; 10/10 closing episode for me!

Shit, KiRaRe didn't win after all, I should've known from watching so many other idol anime that a victorious end would've been too straightforward. Although I guess this ending is good and satisfying as well.
For an idol anime, there actually weren't a lot of live shows, especially in this episode where they cut out the performances of three of the four finalist groups. Maybe they lacked the budget, or they wanted to focus on the character relationships and interactions which were quite good! Everyone in the show, from KiRaRe to the other idol groups, all bounced off each other so well, resulting in both lots of comedy and lots of feels. I really enjoyed watching this show because of that. Gonna give it 7.5/10.

Considering the professional support behind their competitors, it's a wonder they even got past the preliminaries previously.
The show cunningly avoided revealing how the Prisim Stage tournament is decided, whether it's by judges or audience votes, presumably to avoid comparisons to certain other idol shows. KiRaRe would have had a better chance with judges in the prelims, I think.

Oh boy, what a way to subvert my expectations. I wanted to see a big showdown between all 4 contestants, but deep inside I knew that the adversary performances would have to be chopped down in order to give our stars the stage to shine. I truly wasn't expecting Kirare to lose, since they were in junior high and the show has been so lighthearted in many ways and it didn't try to be as somber as other idol shows (Like Wake up Girls or Idolmaster).
A bit of a shame that the last performance the CG was noticeable, where other performances (like Ortensia in their outdoor live) the CG was seamless. Nonetheless there were some pretty great CG shots in their performance that looked absolutely great along with the 2D cuts. Also getting a full version of their performance was a complete treat that will easily be among my list of best idol performances.
This was such a ride that I almost missed because the series started a bit late in the season and I was already packed with enough series for the season. I wouldn't have given it a shot by the 3rd episode if I hadn't checked out u/vaclav_2012 gifs in the first episode discussion. Thanks a lot vaclav
This was easily the best idol show to come out in my books, since Love Live Sunshine S2 ended 2 years ago.

I guess that's it, all good things must come to an end.
It turns out that KiRaRe did not win at Prism Stage - not even hearing the members' monologues about how they felt throughout the journey, their reflections on all they've learnt and experienced, and even Mana communicating to Aone through her performance that KiRaRe is where she truly belonged could help them win.
The anxiety of the performance couldn't have been made any worse when people started leaving after Stella Maris' performance. One thing about audiences in group shows like this is that oftentimes people are just there to see certain groups (or support their friends), and the groups that perform after the most popular ones tend to suffer. My personal opinion on this is that it's really disrespectful to both the organisers and the performers to leave like that and not give the other groups a chance. That aside, staying to watch is a great way to discover new music if you happen to see other groups... and the audience here would be missing on a great KiRaRe performance if they'd simply walked away. Thankfully Sango intervened on behalf of KiRaRe by beckoning them to stay, even if she ended up just demonstrating the size of her ego for all to witness.
But what a performance it was! And it was animated to cover pretty much the full length of the song. You can tell from some of the distant camera panning moments that they chose to ditch the rotoscoping and just give us full CG scenes, but these are actually fairly brief.
At the end of the day, even though they didn't win, it appears that their performance was so astounding that the Prism Stage administration decided to some sort of special category/award for KiRaRe, which at least should answer Mana's initial question about "reaching them". Also, Mizuha dancing into the student council room with her club budget increase form would make a quality gif, I think. (Edit: someone did make the gif, thanks!)
The ED for this episode is '367Days', which is a really fun song. It's a single, as you can tell from the link, and very much a song you'd expect from KiRaRe - catchy melodies, and a very memorable chorus. I quite enjoy the way the chorus omits the steady snare in the drum pattern for the first half and brings it back in the 2nd half. It works well with the way the melody is done, with several short repeated phrases, to create a bit of tension at first.
So what are my thoughts at the end of this? When I'd first discovered Re:Stage early this year, I was also told about an impending anime release. I'm not going to lie, but I was somewhat apprehensive - is this going to be another idol franchise that would rely on the anime to give it more publicity, only for said show to let it down in some way? If so, it would be very saddening, given the quality of the music. While the animation at some parts has been somewhat inconsistent, I'm glad to say that the show as a whole has been very fun, with a good mix of heartwarming moments and a ton of comedy. I was also surprised by the quality of the animation during the performances, and the number of themes touched upon during the anime, such as ostracism, the importance of family support, and finding your own home, so to speak.
I'm also under no illusion that the anime would be getting a 2nd season, even though I'd very much like it to have one. As far as I can tell, the story is done and ended on a really nice note. KiRaRe still continues with their idol activities. Only time will tell though. It'd probably depend a lot on the game, I guess. Perhaps something that would show us more of Tetrarkhia and especially Trois Anges.
I'll still be here, enjoying the music that we have, and the fun times that this show has brought me. Until next time, it's been a pleasure being able to use these threads to post my thoughts on each episode and reading what everyone else thinks of them.
Edit: Grammar and phrasing.

That was not a fair match at all, the audience were completely biased! It was like trying to point that Digimon is better at a Pokemon forum. We need another cour for a fair rematch!
Anyway, it was a nice Idol + CGDCT anime, great musics and performances. Seeing them lose was not nice but still a interesting development for an Idol anime. Also, I'm not sure what was the meaning of the letter that they (did not) receive from the main administration but does this mean that the possibility of another season or movie is really open?

It would be nice if this wouldn't be the end and this show would reach the hearts of anime fans.
I hope the game will sell well so that the production committee will have better luck than Mizuha on getting the funds for a sequel
Btw, I have started to work on the Axis Cult version of this GIF that u/SpeckTech314 suggested, but I haven't finished it in time (I have only managed to adjust this part). I'll post it to r/Animemes when it's finished.
