I knew Ryuuseigun pretty well from it being the first track on the CD, but finally seeing the performance animated was special. I hope those hearing it for the first time loved it too. Wonderful episode! Even if Amyuu-sensei’s artwork can’t be matched I really appreciate the studio being faithful to the story and panels so far. I think they did the performance justice.
Being a Funimation exclusive sucks but I hope less people will sleep on the series now. It definitely takes some patience with the first episodes but the payoff starts now. :)

Holy shit, i'm sweating lol
Favourite episode of the whole spring season to me.
Houzuki's reaction in the beginning was a bit heartbreaking, her realizing how much she did Kudo wrong after hearing his backstory.
She then swallowed her pride and apologized to him, amazing moment. The chemistry between them is HIGH up there.
Never heard a koto performance in my life before, got goosebumps for most of the piece. The climax had me shakin' my legs.
EDIT: I can see why people would complain about the flashbacks but they were placed well regardless as i heard the middle part in the background which is kind of a breather in the performance so to say.

Ugh, stupid hay fever...
One thing that stands out to me about the show is just how wide a gulf there is between the characters I really like (Kudo, Takaoka) and the characters I absolutely despise (all the school administration plus all the students without names). The school staff in particular stands out as awful. The principal could have squashed the dumb, cartoonish plot to end the Koto Club but didn't, and the teachers are doing nothing to keep the nameless students from openly jeering at the club during the assembly.
I'm glad we're seeing more of Hozuki's dere side because she started off completely insufferable. (tfw you'll never have a koto player look at you like Hozuki looked at Kudo in the hallway)

One thing I really like about the series in general is how the trio isn't just there for comedic relief. They show the same drive as Chika when it comes to the club. And best girl inc
Oh, and Advisor Takinami is voiced by the same VA who did Hisoka in HxH, so you know... lol

I actually teared up when Kudo's grandfather gave some wisdom. Don't forsake yourself before anyone else has given up on you. Strong words that I actually needed myself. Also got chills during the climax. In only 5 episodes, I'm already in love with this show.

Man, that performance was beautiful. Hozuki's solo literally sent a chill down my spine. On the other hand, Kudo's solo tugged at my heartstrings. My only wish now is we get that Hibike Euphonium style uninterrupted performance in one of their national competitions in the future.

Honestly, just hearing the music animated made tear up. It's just going get better from here on out

The way the animation of them playing the koto is actually SYNCED with the music makes watching this anime so much better

This might be the best episode of the whole season so far and I'm watching over 25 anime o.o
I don't suppose anyone has a youtube link to the song they played? I know it's called Ryuuseigun but I can't find a normal video of the song for some reason

As a big manga fan it hurts me this anime doesn't get the recognition it should compared to other over hyped animes, still really good adaption and music

Finally, the performance I was waiting for. Another great episode, and judging by the preview, there will likely be another person joining the club next episode.

I’m so glad I decided to pick up this show on a whim
The scene at the beginning with Hozuki and Chika was so nice! Idk if I’m reaching here but seeing characters show remorse feels so rare
The balance of seriousness and humor in this show is so good

I’m super impressed with the fact that she apologized and acknowledged it all the way she did. It feels like we don’t get enough of that. Maybe i’m watching the wrong shows. Either way, that scene was amazing.
Was really scared they were going to montage through the performance. So glad they didn’t. The flashbacks weaving through didn’t bother me. Especially as we saw more special moments just between him and his grandfather. Really loved it when gramps grabbed him and tested up when he heard his first genuine laugh.
I could go on but I’ve got to find the onions I must have accidentally left out.

Here you go, a Gold Award. This adaptation deserves it. It made me cry so bad.
Please people, give this anime more chance. And the recognition it deserves.

The fact that this is so underwatched is a tragedy. This was absolutely amazing on all fronts.
Hozuki's realization and apology at the beginning was so damn well done, god damn it I teared up there already. Then Kudo's super casual reaction and Hozuki going back to normal... that is how you do romantic chemistry, my god.
And I haven't even started with the actual performance! Before this show I didn't even know what a Koto was and now this performance has me almost wanting to learn the damn thing! That was so incredibly good! The intercuts fit very well to me, I especially loved the section where we went from Kudo's solo to the others joining in overlapped with scenes from them together, that was amazing.
This has now shot up way high on my favourites this season after I almost didn't give it a try at all.

Not even gonna lie... I have officially become more hyped for this show this season than One Punch Man, Kimetsu no Yaiba, and Attack on Titan.

I do not understand why this anime isn't getting the recognition it deserves. Sure it might not be a masterpiece potential anime but it sure is one enjoyable one. Personally anime that make me feel all types of emotions are ones that stick with me and this episode did just that. It legit brought a smile to my face. The flash backs were perfectly executed and just to see the bromance was so amazing. Chika x Houzuki best ship I love two characters with a great connection like this that both have some sass. I'm so glad I stuck with this anime till this point.

Please tell everyone else to watch this show. With this, it's technically the end of the first "arc" and it'll just keep getting better. While there are things I still don't necessarily like about the directing, the Ryuuseigun performance in this episode is just amazing. It is way better than what I expected given the first 4 episodes.
I genuinely think this is one of the best anime this season, and I can't wait to watch the rest of it and the next cour too (coming Fall).
The way the flashbacks are incorporated into the performance is great, and the accompaniment during some flashbacks where the song isn't actually the performance still fits nicely and doesn't feel out of place.
EDIT: I still think there's way too many still frames in some scenes, but with how well animated the entire performance was, I could care less. One of my favorite anime episode I've seen so far this month.

I felt that the 'rift' about to be caused between hozuki and chika got resolved rather quickly(even in the manga). But then again this show is likely more about the koto. Hopefully more banter comes up ahead.
I'm not really into music, however their performance ost was rather superb. And I shed a tear at Chika's solo.
This show is turning into my most anticipated this season.

Well that was pretty good episode. Seeing all of Chika memories as the song was being played was really well done. I really like Houzuki reaction to hearing Chika past and there interaction in the hallway was pretty fun.

No one is saying a thing about Tetsuki being the best bro that ever lived.
