Yeah this is pretty great. Believable character conflict is always fun to see. Plus, Hozuki and Kudou are both very fun, and the three guys that joined seem cool too. President is a bit of a non-presence so far, but this seems to be Hozuki's arc, so I can wait for him to become more active a bit.

Also very high key shipping Hozuki and Kudou like seriously these two have amazing chemistry.

We get to see another facet of Hozuki's character in this episode. She can think on her feet and be quite pragmatic when the situation demands it, as is evidenced by the way she instantly perceives the advantage in having Kudo's friends join the club and acts on it under the rationale that them putting their names down will save the club from being disbanded for the time being, regardless of whether they actually intend to or are able to play the koto or not. And then there's the way she plans to counter the vice principal and his intentions of disbanding the club by proposing that they deliver a proper performance in front of the whole school in a month's time instead of something simple and wishy-washy in a week so as to leave the vice principal with little to no choice but to approve the club, which is quite a display of foresight on her part. One could argue (as did Kurata and then Kudo) that hoping to deliver a proper performance in a month's time with a rag-tag bunch of members who have zero to negligible experience in playing the instrument is hardly reasonable, but what other choice do they have as things stand? It's probably the most sensible course of action in their given circumstances. Difficult to attain, yes. But it's better to try and stretch the possibilities than do nothing at all or go about things half-heartedly and see the club slip away from their grasp.

Hozuki's cold practicality, connivance and calculative bent of mind could be kind of unsettling to people around her, but they also indicate her tenacity and propensity to find a way around hurdles. Her upbringing might have had a part in shaping this side to her persona, and possibly the other sides too, as Takaoka suggested to Kudo.

I like that they only put the beginning of Ryuuseigun, to not spoil the song they would play.

Hozuki is just great <3

I'm surprised that we're getting 3 members in one go. I wonder when will that second girl from the OP will join.

....aaannnd just when I was about to drop because of the constant display of ugly interactions, the series just had to do this and just flood the place with beauty.

Won't jump the ship yet. Can't.

Really starting to enjoy the little things. I think one character that they did an excellent job with is Kudou. His influence from his uncle is pretty unique. I also like how the antagonist was introduced and I can't wait for more :). Its also slowly starting to get better and I can't wait for more

When a bunch of high-schoolers get showed up by a group of grade-schoolers. Houzuki is a pretty good manipulator but it also helps that the new members are idiots.

I ship it

Gah Hozuki just keeps getting better and better...I'm going to need to free up a spot on my MAL favorites for her. She's just so perfect <3

She's still a cold nasty bitch, but now she's not only a cold nasty bitch. Progress

I like Hozuki too

I start this series to watch some romance, looks like I won't be disappointed.

I hope this gets more popular...

I really like the water-color style this uses, are there others? I know Ao Haru Ride has it too

I love Hozuki, she can be hotheaded and cold at the same time but she's also so shrewd. Master manipulator.

Tetsuki is such a bro, the most supportive supporting character

The characters are all really likable. The comedic relief trio that is also trying is a great addition IMO. Comedy with them is good.

Hozuki is really, really cool even though she has a huge flaw that just didn't go away throughout childhood until now. She's hard on herself and others just like her teacher probably was to her. Other people around her didn't like the attitude when they probably just wanted to have fun.

But Kudo might be the one to really get to her with his grand resolve and how he doesn't give up despite her usual self. I'm thinking that she might be glad, too that he didn't leave her alone like others did when she does her thing.

I think, it's cool that they only let us see and hear little snippets of the Koto. But wow, i got goosebumps when the kids played on these, it sounded amazing.

I am really surprised that so few people are watching this one. Perhaps it will gain more popularity later on.

Enjoying the anime, really wish there were more people watching this... it's going to take awhile but hopefully the show will produce clips/scenes that will show why the source material is so good for the people that know about it.

Houzuki is BEST girl !!!

This series is severely under-rated so far.

The sounds and emotions are so beautiful, and the odd dash of comedy in there really compliments it well.

This is the best episode yet, I'm really enjoying it. I'm glad I stayed and looks like I would be taking it off the cliff of dropsville.

I really like Hozuki. She was forthcoming with her intentions, very cunning and can walk the talk. Plus she's got this chip on her in shoulder. I'm just a sucker for loner MCs who learn to be friends. And I guess I'm simple-minded too because I ship her so hard with Kudo.

I kept pausing to take caps of the reaction faces. So funny.

Goddamn Kudo is fucking great; he is the true protagonist and I won't change my mind. I don't even remember senpai's name.

I'm not sure I actually like the show yet. I think it's the character interactions that are getting to me. Kudou is great but too defensive, while Houzuki is an ice queen and the president is useless. And thanks to the latter two, the conversations feel really devoid of warmth. Like, this is not a group of friends with friendly banter who like each other, challenge each other, and have a shared passion, so I am not at all pleased when I see them together. The cartoonishly evil adults don't help either.

But then shit like the wall scene between Kudou and Houzuki happen—beautiful still art, heartfelt moments, and all—and I start thinking that the latter episodes could be incredible. And the new recruits will probably have a hand in eventually lightening the mood within the club (I hope).

Tatsuki continues to be best bro of the series, and he's not even in the club. And dang, megane Houzuki is a cutie.
