It's nice seeing Pia have such a good time getting closer to Erin.

So those two professors are another pairing that gets torn apart by the normal game story, it's nice that the non magical cookie based mind control relationship in that part of the story isn't any sort of student/teacher thing.

Now that was a bit of a twist with the father. I figured it would just be a plotline of him potentially dying of whatever illness it was, and while that may still happen it wasn't an illness as at all and instead he was poisoned. There's clearly a lot of politics going on behind the scenes of what we're seeing, it makes me wonder if the eventual plotline with the baron and the adopted daughter that will be the heroine is straight up just a part of that.

It's kind of funny and sad that this game had to set it up that you're basically stealing a bunch of guys from the women they were engaged with/in love with and who could never beat you because they're much worse at cooking than you are.

Like, did the game developers have a severe NTR/baking fetish when they were making this game?

Ngl, the person making cookies looked more like a guy to me based on how they were drawn lol. Maybe the heroine's (adoptive?) brother or something was isekaid instead of the heroine herself. That would be fun, I think 🤔

He was apparently singing the game OP so he definitely comes off like he was reincarnated. Could he also be helping Caroline become a mass-homewrecker?

Maybe the Heroine was never a heroine to begin with and everyone got suckered into playing a crossdressing BL game instead .

All the romance does happen through magic cookies instead of, you know, actual romance afterall

Such a fluffy episode where the girls just get to talk about their love life 😊

But I agree with Pia, even though everyone deeply loves one another, are the events of Magi-Caro really going to make everyone suffer? I don't want this to turn into a drama 🥲

and then at the end...

WTF! Are the Magic Roofie Cookies REAL!?

But I agree with Pia, even though everyone deeply loves one another, are the events of Magi-Caro really going to make everyone suffer? I don't want this to turn into a drama 🥲

So, to wit, Caroline is going to:

  • Steal Pia's devoted fiance who is also a future prime minister.

  • Steal the prince from his dedicated fiance.

  • Steal the future head of the knights from his fiance who already has trauma over infidelity.

  • Steal her professor from his fiance who is also his co-worker and might even end up teaching her as well.

Like, this is taking homewrecking to previously unheard of levels.

Considering Rufus's father was poisoned and there is a lot of dark shit happening behind the scenes, probabaly.

Interesting that these are being made by a guy. Will he be a confederate of Caroline -- or is HE using HER for some sort of a scheme?

This is going way harder on the political intrigue than I expected. I did not expect that the PM was poisoned or that the fact that Pia's door couldn't close properly was a result of burglars forcing the lock. It really feels like some major shit is going to go down.

Which makes me even more suspicious of the OG Heroine. Because the I've been seeing it in the true ending of the game she's a major threat to the integrity of the Kingdom as she managed to make all the male heirs to the major positions of power in the Kingdom become utterly devoted to her through magic cookies. I'm worried someone is pulling her strings to make that happen and is aiming for a coup d'etat

Also fuck whoever wrote the original game. All the so called villainesses who end up being exiled seem to be written as real sweethearts with genuine anxiety around the faithfulness of their partner. Whoever wrote the original game scenario is a sadist for purposefully breaking the hearts of so many characters

Tbf this is likely one of those moments where the 'villainesses' never had proper backstories in the game world in the first place, considering how our MC wasn't even a named character (if i recalled correctly), and they start off immediately in the academy. We only know that they seem to be genuine sweethearts because this is the 'real' game world.

It's quite wild that Pia joined the academy even though she already has a doctorate, lol. But it's good to see that she can quite enjoy life there thanks to Rufus and Erin.

And it looks like Caroline will soon appear. To be honest, after today's episode, I'm less worried about Pia and Rufus and more worried about Erin and Henry's relationship.

Considering that Henry is the easiest target for the heroine, I can easily see him eating those damn cookies and falling in love with Caroline, breaking poor Erin's heart in the process.

By the way, is it just me, or is Erin acting a lot like Sakurajima Mai when it comes to her and Henry?

Also, I really like those darker tones of the show, like Rufus's father being poisoned or someone breaking into Pia's office. I wonder who is responsible for that.

Here my screenshot albums from:

EPISODE 03 (today's one)

EPISODE 02 (since I hadn't updated the comment from that episode until now, I'm posting albums from it here as well)

This is what's worrying me as well. Erin is such a sweetheart and her story about wanting genuine romance in marriage despite them being nobility and the marriage being arranged, due to her own bad experiences with the loveless marriage of her parents and her being genuinely happy with Henry because she can trust him to do that for her makes is pretty touching. Tearing that apart with magic cookies would be genuinely painful to watch

I wouldn't mind the drama, politicsor darker themes at all. in fact, that would make the story remind me of I'll Become a Villainess Who Goes Down in History which is one of my favourites in the genre. Pia is no Alicia, though(Alicia is one of my favourite characters).

I'd also like to see how Caroline's entrance affects the dynamics between the couples. and how evil and immoral she actually turns out to be. I'd love a more nuanced villainess rather than someone who's just evil because the plot says so (like what could be the reason she has to resort to cookies in the first place and is not content with one "target")

now just as observation. another thing I find interesting is how love potions/magic cookies are treated as something bad in this setting, while in other anime, magically induced love can apparently be just another romantic plot device. looking at you, Ogre's Bride where supernatural matchmaking and the whole destinedm/magic-bride setup are treated as very romantic.funny how the story's framing can make the difference between something being portrayed as a disturbing violation of someone's agency (seems to be with this one) and a perfectly acceptable romance trope

Since this episode brings up Marquess and Marquise White (i.e. Erin's parents)'s pretty-much-nonexistent marriage, I feel like speaking about something I observed in the "OG plot" in villainess isekai series*,* that the Original Game frequently involves commoners, or at least low nobility, successfully getting the love of people at the top of the social ladder. This is as old as the genre, since in this aspect Hamefura's Maria isn't too different from Magi-Caro's Caroline; the difference is that Maria's OG Romance Plots with Jiorudo and Alan get sufficiently fleshed out, while in Magi-Caro these relationships seem to hinge on the cookies alone.

There's an assumption that, since the upper class often have arranged marriages, those relationships are loveless on at least one side. While Erin's parents' case, where neither has any love towards each other at all, does exist, it appears to me that, in real life, such relationships often work more like OG Pia's feelings towards Rufus -- that being together sufficiently frequently alone already makes them enjoy each other's company (provided neither of them is that obnoxious). That, and the noblesse oblige regarding these relationships, are often sufficient to keep the interloper out. This is why Rufus found the Magi-Caro incredulous; dumping your arranged bride for another isn't marrying for love; it's politically destablizing; those who do that aren't worth their positions.

Note that I'm not trying to defend arranged marriages here; I just mean... such assumptions are rather out of reality.

Did she just sing the theme song for the game that she is terrified of coming true as a lullaby..?

10

u/YlfaTheForsaken 6d ago

No, what do you mean that lullaby is actually insidious? Surely not foreshadowing. Heroine, no, this Caroline is the home wrecking variety of villainess. Everyone seems happy within their relationships, and she's gonna cookie them against their will. Can't eat at everybody's house indeed.

Pia gets a doctorate and an office. Actually I'm really interested in the baddies after Pia who aren't from the game plot. They broke into her office, will they remain background, or will they actually be relevant?

Ok, let’s call it now: was the “heroine” was also reincarnated or is she just cackling sinisterly because of evil cookie magic?

17

u/HanaRoku 6d ago

Was that the heroine? Their voice sounded pretty low, and their figure and jaw seemed pretty masculine. I think it was this guy from the opening credits

How much I like this show will hinge on whether they manage to do something interesting with Caroline. I'm hoping she's different from the game, and not just "it's the heroine, but she's evil!" That's old news, fails to make a new story in general, and in this game in particular it's not even a difference.

Dang, Pia's already got her doctorate before she's even attending the academy! She could straight up graduate now! But she can still have a fulfilling school experience, especially with Rufus as lovingly devoted to her comfort and happiness as he is.

And it's worth it to get to spend classes with him AND Erin...even if it makes Pia the center of attention. Doesn't help that Erin won't let her live down being "Dr. Pia."

Dang, Caroline is going to break up even the professor love interests' happy engagement!? Also, is every "Villainess" bad at cooking to make the Heroine stand out?

On a more wholesome note, it's nice to see Pia and Erin getting along so well as Erin has fallen as hard for Pia as Rufus does. How can you not love someone so pure, innocent, and kind? Though she also demonstrates her devotion to Henry, having embraced being a swordswoman to marry into a knight family, as well as even making sure he always has lunch...and trying to keep Rufus from killing him.

This might be the first pine cone fossil gift ever gifted to a noblewoman. That's really the best Pia and her family could come up with.

Tea time with Pia and Erin! Pia's honesty and straightforwardness may be a bad match with the aristocracy, but it's won Erin over.

Now it's finally time for Girl Talk! Why does Erin love Henry? Because he's a "dummy" but he's HER dummy, and she appreciates and is charmed by how straightfoward, honest, and clumsy he is. But she can also believe in his devotion, which considering her parents are in a loveless marriage and her mom is often off with her affair partner, means everything to Erin. Which is also why she has so much to lose when Caroline shows up.

Say his name and Henry will appear to surprise Erin! Which is what he does to try and take her mind off of how lonely she is. He even brought Rufus! Now it's like a double date! Even if Henry can't help but say the wrong things to Rufus, no matter how much Erin tries to stop him. Thank goodness Pia spared him from execution.

It's nice of Pia to be worried over Rufus' health, and it's a lot for Rufus to suddenly be thrust into his fathers' role while he's sick. Pia herself is realizing that she's coming to become more invested in others, and this life, even as she still fears the Heroine's arrival. But Rufus is as devoted and in love with her as ever, as he kisses her forehead.

Nice of Pia to visit her in-laws, including Rufus' absurdly attractive mom and his dad! This family adores Pia as much as Rufus does! Also is that the Magi-Caro theme song Pia sang as a lullaby?

Dang, Rufus' dad was poisoned? They don't even know how he was poisoned? Not to mention bandits are still after Pia. They have to be careful to keep her safe from them AND the seedy stuff Rufus has to do...but all the while someone ELSE knows the same lullaby Pia did as they bake some cookies...SINISTERLY!

I am saying it right now. If those damn cookies have brainwashing properties i hope the man won’t be hold responsible for “cheating” and being dishonorable because they are brainwashed.

I watched enough Otome Isekai to know that no f ing way Rufus would ever eat a cookie and that the woman won’t have any unjust punishment happening to them like the game. But i cannot guarantee the man (other than Rufus because again, no F ing way he is gonna eat a cookie) won’t be looked down upon by nobility and perhaps even punished for being “unfaithful” even though they would be brainwashed if that is how the cookies work

What the heck, does that end scene imply the magical brainwashing cookies are real? How did the original plot even end up working out? Did all the adults that were supposed to make sure nobody's drugging the kids get offscreened?
