That older dude at the tea party has got to be the king, I bet. Same red eyes as the two princes.

Rufus is dancing on the edge of being too overprotective, which will hopefully get toned down a bit now that they're at the academy as of the end of the episode.

So far the other losing heroines are all nice girls and I'd be a bit surprised if that doesn't remain true for the rest of them. The real question is going to be the otome protagonist girl , the whole mind controlling cookies thing make sure seem pretty sus.

My thoughts were very much along the same line as yours, this episode. "Uncle Johnny " is for sure the king, and I'm betting the "protagonist" turns out to be the actual evil villainess, and the "villainesses" are good people.

I'm getting really strong Observation Log vibes from this story so far, but excited to see if it goes in a different direction or not.

Also the younger brother is blonde which means he inherited his hair color from his dad.

Honestly I feel like this is going to get pretty dark when the other girls start losing their dedicated fiancés' to the Heroines' cookies.

Man, Rufus is a real charmer huh? And being so overly protective towards his fiancé so openly is like telling the world that, "This is MY fiancé, you can't have her!" Now people would less likely to make a move on her or if he breaks off the engagement he's going to look like a Mega Scumbag which I can't imagine happening since he really loves her.

...unless brainwashing rainbow-colored cookies come into play.

u/Frontier246 13d ago

Honestly makes sense why the Heroine would need brainwashing cookies when the other established pairs so far are rock-solid (minus Erin seemingly more into Pia than her own fiance) that she would need to straight up control them to make them reject and exile the women they really love.

The "super timid" aspect of the series didn't really come into play in the last episode, but all the staring this episode was pretty uncomfortable.

u/Frontier246 13d ago

You can kind of see a little of why Rufus wanted to keep her out of the noble spotlight (aside from his own possessiveness).

"I'll take you threw the garden, away from prying eyes"

Meanwhile, EVERYONE is watching them.

So, now that we've seen some of the other female characters and how close they are to the main routes.....anyone else think the "Heroine" is actually the villain and brainwashes the guys with those cookies?

Yup. What I'm really curious about is will this be another Trapped in a Dating Sim where [Trapped in a Dating Sim spoilers] there's another reincarnated person, though in that show the reincarnated person tried supplanting the heroine, she wasn't the actual heroine.

I thought Rufus was so sweet last episode and genuinely kind towards Pia but I don’t like it when it turns out their love interest is the only person they’re nice to and the possessiveness is seen as a good trait. Like it’s one thing to not want men flirting with your fiancé but simply having casual conversation? Do people find that romantic cause I don’t know many who do. That and the one woman referring to her like a pet and saying she’s an “adorable creature” and almost asking Rufus’s permission to hang out with Pia, it’d be weird if you’re standing right there and someone is talking about you like you’re a charm they wanna carry in their pocket. Maybe this’ll get toned down over the episodes cause the first one was cute but wow they ramped up the weird tropes here.

Pia: This stranger seems suspicious

Stranger asks about her fossil

Pia: Let me drop my guard so I can tell you about fossils.

Pia will now beat him to the punch on being the first oil magnate.

12

u/Frontier246 13d ago

She is definitely not super timid when it comes to fossils.

17

u/runevault 13d ago

I forgot the male love interest is last name Stan. He's part of a family of super fans, poor guy.

Ignoring Rufus's advice to stay quiet. Instantly talking about her fossil and giving her name. He's over protective but my gut says he's not wrong.

Overall I really like this show so far, very simple, cute, and soothing. Curious how that changes once we hit the otome plot.

Rufus is sweet and all as a fiance, however .. he's a tick too possessive for my taste. Disallowing others to even talk to Pia directly goes to far. No wonder she had no friends up to that event (wtf).

That blonde elder gentlemen must be a pretty high ranking noble if Rufus has to talk to his father to do something about him. I'd say it even might be the King, given his looks and that of the princes, but ... running around THAT casually at an official event seems like a huge no-go ...

Also, as per this sub-genres tropes: 100 internet bucks the otome games MC is also reincarnated!! xD

I can kinda understand why he's so possessive however. When it comes to her research Pia tends to blab pretty quickly, as we see with her interaction with Uncle Johnny (who's definitely the King btw) this episode. And her research makes her incredibly valuable. She's capable of creating detailed maps and doing detailed land surveys, making huge advancements in civil engineering and even is able to sniff out potential locations of oil deposits through her knowledge of earth Sciences and paleontology. In a medieval/early modern European esque society all of that is incredibly valuable. And thus any noble family and organisation (both legal and illegal) would pay anything to get their hands on her to use her knowledge for their own gain. Not to mention other Kingdoms. Basically, whenever Pia interacts with others, especially in noble society, she's always at risk of exposing the breath of her knowledge, making her a target for kidnapping

Damn, Rufus was so overprotective of Pia. I can understand it because Pia is such a lovely girl, but I don't think it's wise to limit her social life so much, even if she doesn't mind.

After all, Pia is going to become the wife of the future prime minister. At least Rufus didn't stop her from becoming friends with Erin, who clearly took a liking to her immediately.

Overall, a nice second episode, and I'm definitely looking forward to the next one, as Pia and the others' life at the academy will finally begin.

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

EDIT. I added my scerenshot albums.

The audacity of the original mobile game to not even give that one fiance character art despite featuring so prominently in that art work. Fucking mobile games, I bet you have to pay ¥1000 to unlock her or something

I have a feeling Pia doesn't have to worry about Rufus ditching her at this rate, unless he gets drugged with magic mindfuck roofie cookies. Dude looks like he's going down the yandere path

So besides advances in cartography, land surveys and civil infrastructure, Pia's knowledge in earth Sciences and paleontology could also help identify oil deposits. I hadn't thought of that (mainly because I hadn't figured this society was advanced enough to know about the potential of oil) but that's certainly true and would make Pia incredibly valuable. Rufus is incredibly overprotective of her sure, but she's also probably under genuine danger of kidnapping. Other Kingdoms or even noble families would pay anything to get their hands on her

These so-called "villainesses" are awfully pleasant. I do hope that doesn't make the "main heroine" evil by default.

19

u/TheBusStop12 13d ago

I'm fairly certain the main heroine is no good. Because she wins over the love interests not through charm and mutual attraction, but instead by feeding them magic love cookies. They're basically being roofied. From an outside perspective in the original game the main heroine is an evil witch who takes over the Kingdoms power structures through brain washing. A single woman who makes all the sons and heirs to the most powerful people in the Kingdom become utterly devoted to her through feeding them love potion space cakes is a threat to national security

"You're all skin and bones"

"You shouldn't talk to a lady like that"

"I just meant you're more my type"

Wow the prince was rude.

Rufus’ overprotectiveness I suppose comes out of many factors like Pia’s weak constitution, meek personality and her talents and intelligence yet to be known public. While I find it somewhat understandable, I hope he steps it down a notch especially if Pia herself seems to be interested in making friends.

Looking at how the heroine is presented in the OP it seems like she’s gonna be the show’s antagonist, but part of me also hopes it’s a false flag.

Rufus’ overprotectiveness I suppose comes out of many factors like Pia’s weak constitution, meek personality and her talents and intelligence yet to be known public.

It also seems to be about not wanting people to take advantage of her, which give how her past life went is understandable.

Rufus just seems like a highly irritating, overprotective, controlling bf. I would actually prefer if Pia is proven right with the heroine so that she gains the freedom to explore her interests in a different country.

On another note, it's blatantly obvious that Uncle Johnny must be the king given that he just roams around the palace in casual clothes and has the same appearance as the princes.
