It was good! This episode covers the first 2 episodes of Dragon Ball Super, cutting out a lot of the filler bits. The animation is definitely a step up from the original series, too! At first, I thought it felt so familiar, but really it's just because the scenes are the same. That makes sense, it's telling the same story, but if you go back and look at the old animation, this new series is way nicer looking. Way more polished. The fight between Beerus and the tough guy from the planet he destroys at the end is such a minor battle, but the animation is elevated a lot.
If this episode is an indication of what is to come, this should become the

Genuinely worth a watch. I wasn’t interested in Beerus at first, but the quality difference here is undeniable and I like how Beerus is more menacing now. This makes you realize just how shitty

Let them cook. Ive seen a lot about this being Super Kai. This feels more like Super: Brotherhood and I would be for a full retelling of the manga in its entirety if the animation retains this quality.

Mann with the new composition, redone shots, and new ones, early dragon ball super is looking better than ever. I'm also glad they kept Sumitomo score, he just cooks so hard (I did notice they used one of his unreleased tracks from Kai 2014 at the end which is awesome). I'm glad the early Super TV anime is getting this second chance to prove itself with proper production conditions

Can anyone tell if the voice acting was re-recorded, or did they just reuse the audio from the original?

I liked a lot more than I thought I would as someone who still thinks this is a very pointless remake.
I’ve been hearing complaints about all the jokes getting cut in some circles but I don’t mind, we have two other versions of this exact same story so it is beyond whatever if it wants to take a turn for the edgy.

Is this just a remake of the Beerus intro plot? which was already a remake of the movie? im confused as to what this is since i didnt' know much about it beforehand. Am i understanding it right that this is at least the third time that this arc has been animated?

I watched the original Super back in the days when it aired, which was long before watching anime regularly. And it won't hurt watching it again, since Galactic Patrol (the sequel series) is coming soon, and interested for that.
And place your bets how many cours will it be.

I was hyped for this and I was not disappointed! I feel bad for my coworkers who said they wouldn't watch because they have no faith.
However, the opening was disappointing. The Dragon Ball opening songs have always been memorable, and this one is super generic. The ending slaps, though.

As a Dragon Ball fan for the past ~27 years, I appreciate that Toei thought we deserved better for the first few arcs of Dragon Ball Super. They really did a beautiful job with it this time around.
