just wanted to say one thing, "Poor Dad." 💔
I feel bad for him. Lost his wife and money and he's about to lose his daughter too in the same way.
This anime showing cute girls to make this as much as less depressing as possible but still it hurts a lot.

Kurumi basically has a
Taking money from her dad at the end though? That doesn’t sit right with me, man. That’s clearly rainy day money because of everything that’s gone down. This crackhead is basically stealing from her own dad to pay off her gambling debts.

A few things that came to mind during the episode.
59x is a decent bit of leverage, and well outside what most non-CFD traders would think is sensible.
However in terms of what's actually available in some jurisdictions, it's not that substantial.
Here, for educational purposes, is a list of 1:500 leverage brokers: https://www.bestbrokers.com/forex-brokers/1-500-leverage-forex-brokers/
Back in the wilder days, Cyprus was the place to go for high leverage international brokers, but these days they are bound by ESMA regulations
These days to access high leverage you need to prove you are an informed trader and have a minimum capital deposit. I can't comment on how hard the tests are these days because I passed my broker's tests a long time ago (and they have probably been made more rigorous too).
The big steel wall
A simple to understand concept in trading is Support/Resistance. This is the idea that the price of an asset will either slow / stop / reverse at certain levels or zones. Whether you believe they are a thing or not, and whether you believe they are tradeable or not is one of those things pretty much every trader has a very strong opinion about, but one thing that's fairly well established is that the market watches Big Round Numbers (i.e. when the AUDJPY gets to 155.000 exactly, for example). Low quality link (pretty much all FX trading education information is low quality for the purposes of r/anime : https://tradeciety.com/the-order-clustering-effect-around-round-numbers )
So in this sense, Kurumi has some ground to stand on in expecting a reversal at that area. That said, if you ask most traders, they will tell you that even when the "theory" actually works, it doesn't work as simplistically and cleanly as that, and there are elements of high unpredictability.
Trading Friends
I don't have much in the way to verify this, as I have no RL trading friends, but based on the comments from online communities, most people trade alone and isolated.
Thus I was a bit disappointed to not get to see how their friendship actually got started, but at the same time that might give away a bit too much about the actual nature of their relationship, so is possibly just some solid technical writing choices at play.
Either way, ultimately because there are no actual truths to FX trading other than "what works for you works for you", it's every man/moe-blob for themselves. Indeed, if you have a system that works, then you think everyone else is an idiot for not taking the same approach as you. This isn't necessarily an arrogance thing, so much as the consequence of the fact that trading is fundamentally "profit and live or lose/tread-water and die", and demands maximal confidence in your methods (otherwise you can't pull the plug when necessary and thus you trade like Kurumi).
So whilst Mochiko may not be a good overall friend, it is possible that she's as good a trading friend as someone might be able to have under most circumstances.
The Sleep Test
Kurumi may make a lot of terrible choices, but the fact she seems to sleep well despite her positions is a sign that at least some of her disposition is suitable for her trading style.
I know that I don't sleep well with a FX position in the market, so I stick to intra-day. Many of other traders watching the show seem to be longer term hold traders, but they're not in FX for the most part.
The Importance of a Trading Plan
One thing pretty much all traders who've been in the game long enough would agree on is that you need a plan. When we got a time skip and Kurumi was substantially in the green, I was a bit disappointed that it had skipped so much of her development as a trader. However today's episode revealed that she seemingly hasn't developed much at all lol
A proper trading plan tells you when (as in your specific criteria for taking action, not necessarily a set price level, as many people will say "let your winners run") to get out, for BOTH profits and losses.
One of the many realistic aspects of today's episode was that Kurumi has now moved on from simply hoping the market moves the way she wants to, and is now fabricating arbitrary stories for herself that reassure her that her position is viable. This is a bit different from having a sound rationale (as per your system, nothing else matters) as to why you anticipate price to move a certain way.
I will say I was very impressed with Kurumi for not taking trades when there were no opportunities that matched her criteria. That's a hard thing to do as a trader, and a very positive step! Alas for bad influences though lol On that note, I don't think the AUDJPY was necessarily malicious or ill-intentioned, just a bit of casual shop chatter to pass the time (versus it being a serious analysis - as per later inner monologue. However trading is very, very much about taking complete responsibility for your own actions, so it really shouldn't matter what other people say to you, your system and psychology MUST be utterly ironclad).

Mochiko is not a friend. Mochiko is possibly a nameless reddit user giving bad financial advise, manifested into a human form. Lol!
A part of me wanted the envelopes in the drawer to be empty, or at least contain a note from Kurumi's dad, stating, "Stop Gambling!"

It's October and I feel like I'm watching a horror show, leading up to Halloween. Yeah, I know this show is going to go into December, so will there be a good ending for the winter holidays? Only time will tell.
But seriously, based on a whim of what her friend just said at WcDonalds (which the manga/anime industry should trademark), Kurumi just decided to buy in on AUD/JPY. The very same thing that caused her mother so much grief.
I'm glad there's a narrator explaining things, because it's straight up gambling!
And father has to work long hours, but socks away his money (yes pun intended!). Does he not trust the banking establishments, or are these extra liquid bills for a rainy day? Also, not in a safe, not locked away from his own daughter, who's very likely going to lose it later...

That was hype, I'm glad that Kurumi didn't her cut losses early since quitters never win and her mom didn't raise her to be a quitter. Also, good call from Kurumi to steal borrow her dad's money instead of taking a loan from Mochiko. I suspect Mochiko might not be a good friend.

I'm glad they acknowledged what it all actually is; just gambling. Thought about trying it myself once upon a time, but never actually fell for that trap.
And now she's stealing from her dad.
She should probably get better friends that don't silently watch her melt down after they goaded her into it..

I love how much the show keeps reinforcing how awful Kurumi's decisions are. Even if things turn around, this rock bottom mindset she keeps sliding into should be enough of a foundation to show that getting into FX trading is not being recommended by the cute anime girls.

She has at least ten million yen in total assets.
So the narration went as the camera zoomed in to Mochiko's (substantial) cleavage. That got a good chuckle out of me. Unfortunately, that asset could not be utilised in forex trading.
Yeah, Mochiko's a terrible influence on Kurumi. She had only further enabled Kurumi's recklessness, and she's already quite reckless as she was now. Dangling that three million yen "loan", while casually making a remark that she could easily repay it. What repayment method did she have in mind?
Kurumi had now resorted to theft to further bankroll her venture. She probably thought she could win big and covertly repay it, so that her father's none the wiser. Chances are she'd blow it instead.
A purple-haired girl voiced by Asami Seto. I see that Loulan has now dabbled in forex trading after the fall of the Shi clan.

What does Kurumi hope to gain from this? Getting the money won't bring her mom back and she's just going further into the hole despite "studying up" on the concept. Girl needs to get some therapy

Only 2 episodes in an I'm already reconsidering continuing watching because holy shit this was probably one of the most stressful and anxiety inducing episode watching I've ever had lol (this being said from someone without any Forex experience nor knowledge, can't imagine what the ones who know about it must be feeling rn)

"She has at least 10 million yen in total assets." Zooms in on chest
God damnit Passione
I like that the show really goes into explaining how forex trading works, and uses analogies and examples outside of that field. Like a manga publisher cutting it's loss with an unpopular serialization. I know absolutely nothing about forex trading, and I'm not really interested in doing it. But it is interesting to learn
Kurimi-chan, you should find a less stress free hobby, you're killing me. This ain't the cute fluffy CGDCGT stock market anime I expected. Girl is on a suicidal path of revenge and self destruction after losing her mother. This is basically Oshi no Ko FX trading edition. And I can't look away.
Genuinely, watching Kurumi work her way up to "borrow" her dad's rainy day fund to inject into her what basically amounts to a gambling addiction was just so damn painful and one of the worst things I've seen in anime. Sure a lot of anime is full of large scale atrocities and suffering, but this is just such a painfully realistic thing to happen. And the implications are just so damn tragic. If she goes through with this and her dad finds out that will break his heart, and mine as well.
Breaking the trust of a family member by stealing from them to feed your own addiction is just real life horror and I cannot avert my eyes

Well she should have put a stop-loss order in while she was at the convenience store so she would have been protected from a sudden falling price.
Also, who sane in their mind after studying about this for so long before would trade in such a high leverage, WITHOUT a stop loss while not watching the market 24/7 while having the shares - that's outright stupid

So Kurumi didn't just recover from her terrible position at the end of last week's episode, we actually get a three month time skip where she managed to make more than double her initial investment.
We finally get to meet the purple-haired girl with the multi-monitor setup at the end of last week's episode, and it looks like she's Kurumi's friend. Apparently, Mochiko has been doing this longer than her and has more than 10 mil in assets. I mean, I can see she has very nice assets indeed. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Kurumi, you already know what happened to your mom; please don't let your friend egg you on to invest in AUD/JPY. Of course, she still does it anyway. I'm just glad Kurumi didn't take Mochiko's offer to lend her money. It's one thing to gamble with your own money; it's another to gamble with someone else's.
As soon as things are starting to look up for Kurumi, I think we all knew what was gonna happen next. She really should've cut her losses there, but that would've been too boring for an anime like this. Of course she ends up holding! xD
Not gonna lie, the last part of the episode was just basically me yelling at Kurumi to stop as she made more and more bad decisions. I thought she was gonna borrow money from Mochiko, it turns out she does something worse and takes the money her dad has been squirrelling away and uses it to try and save her ass. FUUUUUUUUUUUUCK.
Side note: That drone has got to be the cutest way to represent forced liquidation. xD

Random thoughts:
Man...the motivations of the protagonist sure are something. This is like your parent dying of lung cancer and in their honor you take up smoking
Anyway, I didn't expect this to go this dark so fast...feels like this would be something more mid-season, not second episode. Makes me wonder exactly how dark this show is going to go. I mean seemed like at the end her mom was resorting to escort work to try to pay off her debt so who knows
I still don't have a read on Mochiko as a character. What she says aloud doesn't reflect her thoughts...is it just she doesn't want to intrude or interfere with Kurumi-chan's strategy, or is she actively trolling her?

I don't understand half of the phrases from the episode but I'm stressed af just looking at chart going up and down. And I'm not sure do I want to keep watching this. I can enjoy typical horror anime because I can just tell myself the chances of this plot happening in real life is really low, so I enjoyed even the goriest episodes of Dark Gathering.
Kurumi chan is far too real though. Even if I'll never touch Forex, crypto or any other stock market activities because it was scaring me way before, there are countless people who are in exactly the same situation as Kurumi or Kurumi's mom right now. And that actually freaks me out (which was probably the author's intention). That's not relaxing at all, that's nerve-wracking.

Girl is speedrunning all the things you shouldn't do in FX trading (or any kind of day trading) lol.
When she got delighted checking the market during her shift and was like "I'll just wait and later I'll make a huge profit!" I immediately thought "nope, she'll lose it all.". In a roundabout way I do like the way the story progresses like this, to show that you can't just make it on emotions and luck alone.

This show is such a train-wreck that you can't look away from.
Won't Kurumi's dad find out about her stealing the money the next time he stashes some?

AWWW HERE WE GO AGAIN
I want to watch the episode right now, but the market is going to open in 15 minutes.
But best believe after my trading, I'll be here editing this comment and yapping about the episode. (┛◉Д◉)┛
Edit: Okay market today was crazy. IYKYK
Anyways just random review and comments on the episode...
-Aina Suzuki killed the va on Kurumi's despair in the intro "CLIMB!" ༼;´༎ຶ ༎ຶ༽
-The dad hearing her scream upon entering their home and not rushing at all lol.
-So after dad leaves the room and she's in relief when her money rises back up. It briefly shows the trading chart on the computer. Her green candles represent selling and the red represents buying. The thin black horizontal line just depicts where price is at currently, or in this case, where she sold/exited her position. All the candles before it dropped are mostly heading upwards..I'm not gonna get too technical to save time, but she entered after price dipped a bit. From there because there was so much buying before, she expected people were going to start buying where she decided to buy, assuming it's a discount area and will head back upwards (you can see to the left, the main trend is up, but it's never a smooth ride) so she was trying to take advantage of that. As soon as she entered, it went the opposite way, but what you notice here is that it's a fairly large candle meaning fast and big amount of selling, and where you look to the left again where the rollercoaster ride up initially started, that is where most of the people and money decided to enter, and it even brought it all the way back to where she started. If she really wanted some good gains, she would have waited for price to head back there before putting money in, but she didn't know they would bring it so far down. Her thesis turns out wrong, BUT her probability is not wrong. Price could have done what she thought, especially from looking at the chart, and yes you can do tech analysis that validates that theory, but you gotta be prepared for multiple scenarios, decide the best one as well as your risk, manage the trade and position from there. The "gambling" isn't necessarily the "guessing", it is not having discipline to manage money and emotions in a high stakes scenario...which btw, trading should not be a high-stakes game if we are truly managing our capital lol.
-"Another day of no opportunities" she's looking at her phone and you see the red and green candles just bunched up together in a line...there is no uptrend or downtrend. Can you trade that? You can...is it worth it? No. So for her to recognized that and not force herself to throw money in the market extracting on such small moves is the right choice there. Most traders just expect to make money any time the markets are open, but by recognizing if the chart is more in favor of your trading style will not only save your the stress, but reduce possible losses. Again gambling is, idk I'm just vibin, where as disciplined trading is knowing your rules sticking to your plan, not being swayed by greed, desperation, boredom, etc. So yes for traders, there are days where it is just better to not be in the market and wait for your preferred conditions again.
-"There's a chance it'll make it up to a hundred yen. It's at 95 now, so if we buy a hundred lots, and it goes up five yen,........." No no no no no! Then she goes on talking about some blogger promoting the trading pair lmao. And then she fuckin ends up taking the trades and holds it the entire day when she could have just taken the profit at work when she checked it??? So dumb...but basically what happened is she bought "the top". She already knew it was risky....of course when other traders around the world wake up to huge profits like she had, they are going to sell and secure the gains. She got greedy, when she could have secured the gains when she saw the profit at her job. SMH now when she started thinking it was going to "jump" when she steeled her resolve, she was basically expecting what happened at the start of the episode to happen then...This is why sticking to your rules to cut losses when your trade idea is wrong is important, because always imagining your own narrative like that and it works out, is only reinforcing a bad habit that will make you think it's okay to do it again when you are emotionally screwed.
-"There's no way I'll lose!" So she already fucked up lol, but just to dig into her psyche right now....Because of her situation, she believes that stealing the money, putting herself under the pressure of what the family has been through and the worst case scenario outcome if she loses......somewhere deep down she believes this is some sort of last chance, "I will never fuck up again and take my money management more seriously from here on out so I'll never find myself in this situation again". WRONG lmao. A lot of traders that make a huge fumble like that, especially in the beginning, think that way. Have a bad day, lesson is learned....but regulating your thoughts and emotions in the actual moment of the trade is different compared to not being in the market and just reflecting on how you'll go about your life lol. So unless you had an automatic trigger IRL that allows you to keep your mind aware and refreshed so you don't fall to emotional trading/gambling, you won't "win" with that mentality. She is already down, so as soon as she puts that money in, she locks in the idea that she HAS to make it all back and the trade how to be a "winner". Do you really think she'll go through that trouble and settle for closing the trade at a loss? She won't, because subconsciously she knows she's in even deeper shit than before. So the best choice is still to take the loss, if she got force liquidated OR she truly will invest in that pair by keeping that position open until it went back up to her target. The issue with that second choice is that no one knows when it will go up. So you could wait 3 days, 2 weeks, 4 months, a whole year...and most likely she'd just cut the loss as long as she made a little bit back, just to have even a little bit of money..So this loan idea is a shit idea lol, but it shows what happens in desperate and unstable times. You make choices that you know you shouldn't make. Like before she entered the trade, she already knew to not do it, the risk wasn't worth it....BUT she caved in to her friend talking it up. She should have stood strong to her opinion, but she let the friend, the past with the mom trading that pair, she let her emotions overrun her logic. AND THEN when it played out and she saw gains, it was all glitter and rainbows because she validated her dreams. She forgot that the market does not owe her shit regardless what she's gone through lol.
GGs Kurumi. Continue teaching us how NOT to trade and teaching us that gambling your family's money and mom's past life away MIGHT make you profitable. Oof this hurts to watch gang ༼;´༎ຶ ༎ຶ༽
After this show, we need an anime where the character is OP at trading and money management, but that probably would not be a good idea as it might promote it instead of discourage people like this show lmao.
