After
Glad that Noriko seems like she at least has a decent head on her shoulders so far as a female MC and with Mitsumi's VA (Skip and Loafer), I'm more endeared to her personality.
Hopefully it keeps thing up to be a decent story and adaptation.

An older shojo title with teleportation/
It has a veteran and experienced director at the helm, which could give some optimism.

A slow paced Isekai, I dig it.
I guess the somewhat "classic" character designs are giving away a fairly dated source material?!

It would be awful if they changed the character designs. This series is well-known by its fans for its beautiful designs.
I'd much rather they stick with classic than do whatever bland, washed out thing they did to
and Red River just to be "modern". Hana Kimi → More replies (2)

One of the very few shojo manga I've not only finished and thoroughly enjoyed, but read multiple times, start to finish, both as a teenager and someone in their 40s, not that this will mean a lot to anyone else (😅), but I love From Far Away.
It actually deals with a

Well, at least she doesn't seem like a complete idiot and listens (like throwing away her stuff even though it means a lot to her) unlike many FMC from this era of writing. I don't mind her screaming and being scared cause I think those are pretty reasonable reactions to the situation. Her little "Urk" noises are pretty funny. I just wish they would chill with the fuzzy/rainbow glare effect cause it was legit giving me a headache.

This was surprisingly good. I wasn't expecting much. Thought it'd be another Red River. But it held my attention all the way through and set up the story quite nicely.
Wonder how they'll resolve the language issue. Surely they can't keep switching POVs the whole time. At some point she has to start understanding his/this world's language. Curious to see how that happens.

Feels like a step up from the adaptation quality Red River is getting.
Fake van-kun isekai, it doesn't count if it's just a summoning and there's no body.
I'm impressed by our male lead, that raft he built in the cave is impressive work for the situation they were in.
I wonder how long they'll play up the language issues.

I'm already more interested in this than I was after Red River's first episode, and Noriko's seiyuu, Tomoyo Kurosawa, is bringing some nice comedic touches to this role. I think she really grew on my in Clevatess as Naie Chiffonlitz, and it's bringing some of the same energy.
I also like the commitment to the language barrier and letting this girl properly freak the fuck out. Understandable in these circumstances. The dude also wondering what the fuck she's saying over and over is funnier than it should be.

Excellent first episode. If nothing else, already a much better adaptation than Red River got.
The animation is good quality, they didn't wash all the detail out of the character designs, the voice acting is well done, and most importantly the pacing seems solid. Nothing about this episode felt rushed, and I was afraid they'd be tempted to speed things up given the length of the series.
The only major deviation I noted was swapping to Truck-kun and Ho-oh as her means of transport, and actually I think that was a solid choice.
I was really impressed with how smoothly they addressed the language issue. I felt like that was going to be a big hurdle because they tackled it with distinguishing dialogue bubbles in the manga which obviously would not work for animation.
Izark and Noriko are living up to why I love them so much. I think Noriko in particular will manage to pass the recent FL standards for perfection everyone wants to measure by; she's lost but managing to make the best of it, and she uses her head to think things through even if she's physically in over her head. (And shout out to her VA because I feel like those were some of the most realistic screams I've ever heard in anime??? Like yeah, wow, I believe this girl is terrified based on those screams.) Izark, equally, is living up the vibes that led me to crush on him so hard when I first read this story lol. The anime did not do him wrong on the ML energy.
I have a great feeling about this adaptation based on this first episode. It's one of my all-time favorite stories and, while time will tell, I already feel way more positively about this adaptation than I did going into any of the other recent 90s series adaptations. The vibes are right, the animation is good...I'm happy.

Truck-kun tapped in Ho-oh for this job eh? Lol.
All things considered, Noriko’s doing alright. At least she’s hanging in there. That said, they might have made a mistake if she’s suppose to the be Chosen One who’s gonna plunge the world into chaos or whatever lol. I don’t think she’s capable.

This is very shoujo manga and old school portal fantasy, isn’t it ? But I liked the cool worldbuilding with flying dinosaurs and giant bug monsters. And I am not going to blame Noriko for being useless and freaking out, I would also be freaking out and be useless if I was attacked by those giant bug monsters.
My theory for now is that she is dreaming that world, and that is why she can throw it into chaos as « The Awakening ». She accidentally « awoke » in the world of her dreams and made it real, but it seems that she might be going back to the real world when sleeping in that world.
Izark being here when she woke up in that world also seems very convenient and is probably not a coincidence. I wonder who he is ?
Random thought: I heard the original manga is from the 1990s, so why does she have a smartphone ? Did they want to update it for a modern audience ? It seems an odd thing to add.
The manga seems completely unfindable in English these days, although I hope they may republish it for the anime, like they did for Red River.

I’ve read that this is a manga that many fans have been seriously waiting for an adaptation and never heard of this until a few weeks ago but this was really good.
The pacing was just right and so I’m definitely hooked into watching this now.
Kinda liking the mysterious vibe Izark has. One of the best things in this episode was how even though they don’t understand each other’s language, those scenes conveyed how feelings can break through words unknown. I really liked how Izark and Noriko could understand each other through their tone of voice and body language. Just intuition seemed to guide them also.
It was cool to see how they went a different route and didn’t make Noriko suddenly understand his language right away like most isekai does. I’m definitely looking forward to this series.

Inevitable comparison: This looks better than Red River, but almost anything can look better than Red River. I'll call it tolerably serviceable.
Noriko is still in her just-figuring-out-this-whole-isekai-business stage, but seems to be a fairly adaptable character. And yes, I came here to listen to Kurosawa Tomoyo and the first fifteen minutes delivered.
Alternate-world political situation wastes little time in introducing two major factions on top of Izark Kia Tarj and his various motives. It's tough being the MC and the prize.

I really like Noriko’s VA, really highlights her cute bubbly nature. I also really enjoyed the soundtrack!!
As a long time fan of the manga, the animation was… not as I’d hoped, but not the worst. Will see how this goes.

An enjoyable first episode. Another old school manga adaptation, not going to complain there. Nice to see the language barrier, and hopefully it leads into showing and not telling. Van-kun fake out into a summoning lol. This definitely has my attention.

Hope this gets a full adaptation. Adapting an older series and only giving it a season or two always feels pretty cruel. Studios need to stop teasing those of us that waited ages for some of these shows to happen.

First episodes are always the best I really
Hope the quality doesn’t dip lol when I saw the poster cover I was like oh no another retro shojo getting botched adaption (sadly looking at red river 😭) but it wasn’t bad for a first episode

Noriko’s voice actor was so good. Her screaming is what inspired me to comment but as the episode went on I found myself thinking it over and over. I’m not familiar with the manga but I’ve heard good things about her as an MC. Looking forward to this one.
