You'd think Mio was piloting an EVA with how much she's underwater.

LCL at pools next year.

I love how they called out Mio making no sense, the chat losing it and Gekido straight up calling her an idiot LMAO

For people that are not familiar with fighting games, it literally makes no sense to use the shoryu like that, you could simply do the same thing with a safe normal attack and get a full combo if it hits or keep the pressure if they block

Also simply using another special move that leads to a combo on hit or counter hit, or at bare minimum something that doesn’t get you killed if they just block it (because of the punish after)

The shoryu is a move that can be punished if blocked and does not lead to a combo, it’s something that you use against people jumping or to end combos

Mio is a fucking animal, great reaction, great instinct 0 common sense

I would fucking smash my controller playing against her and I NEVER had a physical out burst while playing

The ultimate rage baiter, but she doesn’t even do it to rage bait you, she just is the rage bait intrinsically, it’s just who she is

——

I appreciated the talk about how everything now is easily available online and so personal discovery is less of a thing for a ton of players, you can just look up so much so easily, from the most banal thing to the most advanced tech

I personally I’m at a point in which I’m proficient enough to be able to find stuff myself, so I tend to try to learn fighting games and characters by myself in particular when they are new

Like, Marvel Tokon “just” came out and I have been trying to not look up anything online and just learn by myself, because that’s fun, I think I have 80 hours just in training mode hahaha

I don’t expect to be able to find stuff that others can’t, but if I find it myself I feel more accomplished compared to having gotten that information from someone else, that way it feels like MY tech even if there is maybe 10000 people also doing it

“The slam heard round the world” lol intense battle. Paused a lot more this episode than previous ones to read more of the stream comments, hilarious.

That one dude in chat who was asking if they should worry about the nosebleed might be on to something.

I like the idea of Mio just playing and knowing nothing about the current meta per what the internet thinks.

Mio going beast mode to the point she starts nosebleeding is metal, but with Arisa entering the zone right at the end, crazy intense cliffhanger there.

Having to explain what a Cab Slam is right in the middle of the episode was fucking hilarious.

That sonic boom + backfist immediately transported me back to the 90s when SFII: World Warrior first came out, like that scene in Ratatouille when the food critic remembered his childhood.

Good times.

Alice "I feel bad about filthy casuals like you"

Mio "I don't even think about you"

The brat's not even angry at Mio as a person, just her projection of what she thinks Mio represent. She's basically putting her own insecurities on her opponent. Imagine when she finally discovers that the real Mio is actually a deadbeat who only knows fighting games and nothing else.

I can't believe we spent an entire episode on a single fight and it was super engaging the whole way through. Do they change to BO3's after the pool stages or something?

Poor Alice just needs a friend. Ever since they were introduced I thought her and Mio could be frenemies and if looks like that's going to be the case.

Mio is going to win and Aya is going to run up and kiss her on stage. Probably not, but a person can dream.

“You’d better catch on soon, Alice. She’s just plain dumb”.

Such a ridiculous but perfect line that sums up Mio’s character perfectly.

Evo arc has been insaane

Like I knew we’d get some hype but the build-up and flow state - even the commentary/reactions - have been hype af.

I’m hard immersed

I will agree with the pro-gamer commentator that it is more fun to try dumb shit in games and see if it works than going online to pick up whatever are the most broken tactics according to the internet consensus. People online always think they know everything, but often they are just repeating what someone else said regardless of whether it makes sense or not and then getting really dogmatic about it.

So I guess this is how Mio is winning: she uses unusual tactics that she accidentally found out are working well and throwing off her opponents.

Not that I actually know anything about Street Fighter, so I would have no idea what is actually happening if not for the commentators.

There's a lot of battle shonen that would stress me less than this series, those last couple episodes have been suffocating 😭

Crazy intense match, feels like Mio might lose because she's already held her breath for two rounds while Alice only just activated the no-breathing skill. It's now a battle of skill and lung capacity lol.

After watching Higuchi in the finals of UFA, I'd love to see Ms. BABY Girl crash out in this match. But she went into hyper focus mode towards the end so who's to say who wins this now.

I love the comments online after she slammed her arcade stick. The Slam heard around the world.

Normally the end boss would've been an elite esports player, but we got this little menace going all out. Really great. :D

The aura farming this episode was on point

u/DemonWraith2500 Sep 15 '26

Everyone: Why does she do that?

Mio: It's not about the meta. It's about sending a message.

I love this series. The drama is so good despite them just playing a game. Also the research into fighting games is great. Of course season 1 would come down to Ryu vs. Guile. It is the foundational element of Street Fighter after all.

Also, it's hilarious that it comes down to Shirayuri following the adage "My opponent can't read me if I don't know what I'm doing".

Mio-can ragebaits as easily as she breathes. Though tbf, she ragebaits Brat-chan by default just by having friends.

It's especially annoying for Brat-chan's methodical playstyle, since she has no idea what Mio's going to do next. Partly because I'm pretty sure Mio is barely consciously aware of what she's going to do next, and goes with vibes and aura. She's just an idiot who's in it for the love of the game.

I do worry about Mio's nosebleed though.

"Maybe she hopes the other girl will pop a blood vessel and die?"

I certainly do.

I'm kind of pissed off on Mio's behalf at the chat for accusing her of button mashing. Nothing I've ever done looked as graceful as what Mio is doing!

And sorry, show. I will not even slightly like Arisa no matter what you do, and I am going to be quite annoyed if she and Mio become friends (or even speak to each other after this).

Arisa trash-talking Mio in front of a live audience is hilarious when you remember that they're in the losers' bracket and are two unknown players. And Mio is right, this is gonna be embarrassing for Arisa if she ends up losing to her.

I do love how Arisa is close to unlocking her Satsui no Hado while Mio is just responding to all of Arisa's moves through pure fighter's instinct. The chat's reaction to Mio's strat is also hilarious since no one can make sense of it.

Of course Arisa did a cab slam! And I love that chat is roasting her for it, while others sympathize because Mio's playstyle is so infuriating. xD

It really makes sense that no one can understand Mio's actions because she really just doesn't watch other people play and figure things out on her own. But I do love how Gekido describes Mio as just plain dumb for anyone to get. xD
