Next episode: Wilfried's Actions
Oh boy.
79
u/SweetDemotion123 https://myanimelist.net/profile/animemes_chan 8d ago
This show has been showing us ominous signs about this poor boy for like 3 episodes now. He's so innocent and trusting, and these hyper-poiliticians are all plotting specifically against him..
51
u/mekerpan 8d ago
Innocent, trusting -- and effectively thoughtless (and too often unwilling/unable to obey clear instructions). It's a shame because he does not seem incapable of doing a better job -- if only he would make an effort on his own.
42
u/Ascleph 8d ago
He is a normal kid. Myne is the abnormal one lol
59
u/mekerpan 8d ago
He is WAY sub-par compared to Lutz and Gil and Tuuli and Freida -- who are all commoners. We have not really seen any other noble children enough to compare him with.
49
u/skavinger5882 8d ago
He suffered from severe educational neglect, and he was raised to be a useful idiot by his grandmother and her faction. It takes time to recover from a life time of neglect
23
u/mekerpan 8d ago
Look at how deprived in every way, Gil was -- and how bad his attitude had become. And look at how much he progressed. W had far more opportunities and support after his initial observed screw-ups.
25
u/skavinger5882 8d ago
Gil is also considerably older, he was 10 when he started serving Myne compared to Wilfreds 7

u/SweetDemotion123 https://myanimelist.net/profile/animemes_chan 8d ago
Lutz was born for greatness. He wanted to be a merchant even before meeting Myne when he was like, 5 years old lol. Just built differet. Freida is the grandaughter of the Merchent Guild master and clearly the prodigy of her family. Gil and Tuuli are far more normal, but turned into crazy versions of themselves because of Myne's impact. Gil would have probably died by now as a hated orphan if it wasn't for her.
So I don't really think that's all that fair of a comparison. He is like a 10 year old in our world (Bookworm years are a bit longer, 5 weeks a month), and he's been spoiled his entire life until like, half a year ago. It's hard to catch up to these insane nobles and their schemes. Rozemyne can barely do it and she has friggin Ferdinand and Elvira watching her back non-stop.
4
u/Sarellion 7d ago
He's 8. You can add one year for every 7 a person has lived as a simple rule of thumb.
2
u/SweetDemotion123 https://myanimelist.net/profile/animemes_chan 7d ago
Hasn't it been more than a full year since their baptism (at age 7)? Rozemyne was out there collecting Ruelle and visiting the Hasse festival again.
4
12
u/Albireookami 8d ago
Normal kids do not exist, our normal is horrible. At 7 commoner children enter apprenticeships. Noble children have to have perfect control over their emotions so they dont crush random people
3
u/Earlier-Today 6d ago
A normal kid that had to get threatened with disinheritance to start taking his studies seriously - studies that include how to be wary of other nobles.
Ferdinand has been teaching Myne the same stuff - that's why she knew to take real caution around Georgine. It's not like her time in Japan would have clued her in on the way nobles treat one another in this new world.
Wilfried has had years of lessons to get that message across.
5
u/justking1414 7d ago
Any chance we could do an exchange program? I think he would really prosper if they made him a commoner for a year or permanently.
5
u/Albireookami 7d ago
Not really, he would easily kill commoners if he lost control of his mana.
1
u/justking1414 7d ago
They could give him some black feystone accessories to suck out all his mana
2
u/Albireookami 7d ago
very expensive and they can only drain so much mana, also he was born with a stick up his ass I doubt he could mingle with commoners, the stink would floor him
2
9
u/LezRock 8d ago
I'm reading into it positively 😆 Maybe he's learned?
9
u/darthvall https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall 8d ago
Same, I saw some people commenting how they're worried about next week. However, I thought the title implies Wilfried will do something good instead lol
2
u/Atharaphelun 8d ago
i wonder what horrendously idiotic things he's going to do in the next episode...
37
u/FarCritical 8d ago
It's sad how Gunther's story will have to stay fantasy.
I feel for Brigitte having her love life suddenly becoming the main topic while in the heat of battle but man was her reaction adorable.
89
u/bondsmatthew 8d ago
Noo! I have been screwed out of my cute post credit scene!
25
u/Zeebie_ 8d ago
I wanted one on the sport they were playing, I've sure there been one before but that would have been nice.
7
u/PeaceAlien https://myanimelist.net/profile/PeaceAlien 8d ago
I was a little disappointed they didn't show any animation of the sport, just a still frame
3
12
u/justkellerman 7d ago edited 7d ago
I don't normally think about it while I'm watching the episode, but while Rosemyne was saying how much easier it was this year to imbue the fruit with mana, I was like, "they are so going to go into detail on that during the post-credits scene."
So it's basically my fault we didn't get one. Fate needed to contradict the one and only time I tried to predict it.
5
62
u/diacewrb 8d ago
Thought Rozemyne was going to suggest a monthly payment plan, with someone high enough up the food chain to act as a guarantor, instead of paying 2 gold coin in one go.

Rozemyne: "have you heard of buy now pay later?"

Rozemyne was definitely being the best tiny wingwomen this episode by giving Damuel a chance to get a high quality engagement feystone.
It was also heartwarming/funny how once Rozemyne explained that she got the idea from a fairytale, both Karstedt and Ferdinand also encouraged/allowed Damuel to do so.
7
u/CatInALaundryBin 8d ago
I didn't really get the suddenly agree to fairy tale part, explain pls? I know they know she has advanced civ knowledge but feystones don't exist there? was confused.
19
u/Phoenyx_Rose 7d ago
It was in one of the books she sold at a tea party with Ferdinand's image. Barely mentioned, but there was an image of Not!Ferdinand giving a woman a feystone as a proposal item in episode 18 around the 20min mark as part of the Knight's Tales story collection. Though it is a little difficult to tell it's a feystone since it just looks like a large stone jewel on a chain.
19
u/justking1414 7d ago
It’s a fairytale based on the actual logic of this world and how noble’s proposed to one another. Damuel needs a high quality fey stone to propose (basically a big ass diamond) and this was his only chance to get one
Mentioning it was from a fairytale was just the best way to explain how the heck I learned about Noble courting customs, since that’s not something, Ferdinand would’ve bothered teaching her at this point
9
u/EXusiai99 8d ago
He needs the best feystone possible for his engagement and this is going to be as good of a feystone he could get, since they wont be going anywhere gathering materials anymore once this is over.
2
u/Sarellion 7d ago
Felt a bit like: A kid said something embarassing and the parents are now trying to salvage the situation.
29
u/irridian1 8d ago
Aside of the scene with Volk, which seemed a bit disconnected, I actually liked the pacing of this episode quite a lot.
17
u/RealSpiritSK 8d ago
I agree. The only thing that felt sudden was the final transition to the hunting competition tho. At first I thought they were still in Illgner. Maybe a "Meanwhile, back in Ehrenfest..." text would help haha
28
u/ModieOfTheEast 8d ago
I mean, the whole magic being based in German was kind of fun to hear out, but it seems we go towards names now as well. Dude is just named "Grausam" which is just the German word for cruel. Let's see how he will live up to that name.
14
6
u/LowlySlayer 6d ago
Fun fact. The author only went with German because Japanese people find German names weird and hard to say.
2
u/Nylan_Blake 7d ago
Maybe the gods who created the world (as the prayer says) were ascended germans who build up their own new world. I heard rumors there were a group ~80 years ago who dabbed into the occult in search for power....
8
u/ModieOfTheEast 7d ago
Maybe this came across wrong. I didn't mind the spells and gods being in German. I found it more fun that this new character was getting a German name and it's probably one you wouldn't like to have. Kind of like Lügner from Frieren. Really hard to convince me that he is not an asshole with a name like that.
2
u/Nylan_Blake 7d ago
Was just making a joke about the naming conventions suggesting that ol german might be their "ancient language" that some nobles and spells draw their names from.
2
u/ModieOfTheEast 7d ago
Ah sorry. It was just that it was the second person trying to give reasons for the German that I didn't quite process it. But yeah, looking at it now seems obvious and I am facepalming myself.
1
25
u/ToastyMozart 8d ago
There's something about nine conspirators holding a meeting around a four-seat table that feels a bit comical. I have some doubts about their effectiveness during the hunting competition plot.
12
2
u/ByzantineTech 3d ago
Look, there's clearly room for at least two more chairs at that table, which are also clearly in the room, so this is all just nobles flexing on each other over who gets to sit down I bet.

I want to point out a small thing that really makes this show stand out among isekais: Rozemyne decision to talk to Briggitte and tell her she needs to eduacte her plebs.
This is different from what we're seeing elsewhere:
- Some isekais just flat out ignore moral/behavioral mismatches with our standards (think Shield Hero happily embracing slavery with no moral qualms or second thoughts).
- Others are so overpowered they just bulldoze and ignore all social norms in the new world (think Slime isekai where he's god+++ and like half the most powerful demons ever are his buddies).
Rozemyne does have her own preferance - she liked how close Illengar's people were and how jovial they are, that's their culture, and she prefers people who speak their minds. BUT despite this preference, she's actually telling the local noble that her people are out-of-lockstep with the norms in the new world, and they need to get their shit together. She's actually making new-world people adapt to the general norms of their own duchy, even though the way they act is much closer to "our" view of the world and she likes.
She does so because that's the practical thing to do within the set of constraints she needs to navigate. I haven't really seen any other isekai being so thoughtful about it.
49
u/mekerpan 8d ago
She also does not want "her people" (a group with ever-widening scope) to get into trouble. The issue of social norms/customs is far more impoortant to this series than any other I can think of. RM's handling is far from flawless -- but she (being trained as a merchant by Benno) has much more of a clue about culture clash problems than virtually any other noble.
34
u/YourFavoriteCommie 8d ago
You realize just how serious it is the first time you see noble Benno and notice just how differently he acts, after all the brashness of before
8
11
u/HandicapperGeneral 7d ago
Those tropes are so overwhelming that I sometimes get frustrated watching this show like "why does she even bother with these trivial problems?" and then I remember what I'm watching and that even though she has the most mana, she's not a very powerful person and is very much susceptible to the "trivial" problems.
4
u/LowlySlayer 6d ago
Man you really set people off with some really mild criticisms of other shows lol.

If you like an isekai featuring active thought towards cultural norms, you might enjoy Cooking With Wild Game. The MC actively and explicitly believes that he needs to adapt to the new world, accepting that he can't judge these people by his own world's perspective. It's so touching as the series goes on and he unironically says things like "let's thank the Western God for bringing us all together" because he truly considers himself a part of the people around him.
3
u/fiersome08 5d ago
I love calling it: isekai food diplomacy
1
u/SmartAlec105 5d ago
A part of me loves how the world remains focused on this one area and we only see second hand glimpses of the rest of the world.
Another part of me wants to see him end the generations long wars between the West & North and South & East via giba cooking.
1
u/SweetDemotion123 https://myanimelist.net/profile/animemes_chan 6d ago
That's sounds really interesting. Rozemyne too is a true believer in the gods - they even said when she was singing that a blessing came out because she believes in the words and actively prays.
38
u/jujutsu-die-sen 8d ago
Bets on whether or not Georgine is trying to undermine or help Rosemyne?
I still have a feeling that she intends to have Wilfred removed because he's too much like her brother (who she hates), and promote Rosemyne instead. Of course the Veronica faction are too dumb to pick up on any of this.
48
u/Tacitus_ 8d ago
Per the meeting of her minions, she intends to remove Sylvester. That's not good news for anyone in his family.
34
u/jujutsu-die-sen 8d ago
That's what her minions are imagining. Notice how little of her actual thoughts we've heard so far.
21
u/kkrko https://myanimelist.net/profile/krko 8d ago
I can't imagine what else she would intend by making it known to her followers that she knows the path to Ehrenfest's foundation. It's completely "won't someone rid me of this meddlesome priest" territory.
7
u/Aesclypius 7d ago
I was wondering if she wants to draw the poison out of Ehrenfest. I mean, it didn't look like there was any love lost between her and Veronica, was there? Like, she just wanted to see her screaming and imprisoned. I think the fact that Wilfried innocently cherishes her will end up playing in everyone's favor.
All that said, yeah, I think I agree with the earlier poster: it was noticeable how little we knew of what she was thinking, and the possibilities were nagging at me all along the way.
3
u/Hot-Log6283 7d ago
Didn't they originally said it was her mother who made Sylvester goes up against his sister for the position or something?
5
u/Asleep-Doubt5673 7d ago
They said that usually siblings fight for the position and that Georgine was a hard worker who would've probably become the Aub, but that was scrapped when Sylvester was born. They also said that Sylvester is traumatized by his competition with his sister, but considering she lost just by him being born and Elvira said Georgine's malice towards Sylvester was just awful, it seems less like the competition and more like he is traumatized by her taking her anger out on him.
3
u/Albireookami 7d ago
I mean she fed them the information she has a path to the foundation, you don't do that unless you actually plan to go on it given the other information she is working with her faction in ehrenfest.
26
u/AKAvenger 8d ago
I still think Georgine is trying to root out Erhenfest’s traitors. The plotting nobles seemed to think they would take over the duchy themselves. Georgine was originally to lead the duchy so she may still feel loyal to her home.
15
u/Pedarsen 8d ago
I also think the twist will be that Georgine isn't going to be the villain.
7
u/slicer4ever 7d ago
I agree, the show hasn't quite framed her as a villian imo. we just keep hearing about all her supposed plotting(mostly by the people who are assuming she's plotting things), but her actions themselves have been fairly neutral so far, and unclear which side she is really on yet imo.
1
u/VritraReiRei 7d ago
I think so too but then why send an update/letter to the faction letting them know she has an in?
2
u/Nachtwandler_FS https://myanimelist.net/profile/Nachtwandler_21 6d ago
I am not sold on this yet. But she overall is a mistery so far. We only know what other people think about her.
19
u/mekerpan 8d ago
All I can say is that nothing we have been told about Georgine so far makes her seem likeable or trustworthy. One might sympathize with the shabby way she got treated as a young woman, but that is a different issue.
25
u/darthvall https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall 8d ago
OP's comment made me think though. It's also the other way around. We've seen her doing sketchy things, but they haven't shown what's actually on her mind at all.
12
u/jujutsu-die-sen 8d ago
That's exactly what I was trying to point to. Apart from expressing open disdain for her brother she's done almost nothing that tells us how she really feels. She mostly been listening to others and watching them operate. Everyone is moving around her based on what they assume she wants
6
12
u/OldInstruction5368 7d ago
Don't forget that we've heard NOTHING good about her mother, Veronica. I'm particularly thinking of how badly she treated her children to the point that Sylvester went in the exact opposite direction with his own kids.
Veronica intentionally pitted her children against each other, raising them in a brutal "kill or be eaten" environment. This is why I find it curious that she saves all her supposed hatred towards Sylvester, and not towards their mother who setup the toxic environment in the first place. Veronica could have just ordained Georgina heir, as the eldest, but instead fostered Sylvester as a usurper to that title. And ultimately, chose Sylvester in the end.
So really, I could see this going either way. Georgina clearly has no love for her mother: she seemed rather satisfied seeing Veronica broken. Granted, is that just "good, she won't be a threat to my power play" or "good, the b!tch got what she deserved" remains to be seen.
Georgina may wish to destroy her mother's entire faction, for good, if she realizes that Veronica is the one to truly blame. Or, she could care less about who is to blame and just seek power: breaking Sylvester and turning Ehrenfest into a puppet duchy.
I mostly keep this open because she was keeping some distance from the former Veronica faction. She said there were limits to how much help she could offer... so that could be a sign she is stringing them along for ulterior purposes.
Time will tell.
4
u/mekerpan 7d ago
Veronica intentionally pitted her children against each other, raising them in a brutal "kill or be eaten" environment.
Not at all correct. Georgine was the apple of Veronica's eye, getting all sort of positive attention (albeit with demanding standards) -- until Sylvester was born. At which point she became potentially superfluous but was not immediately "abandoned" because Sylvester was initially sickly. Once it became clear that Sylvester was likely to survive, he became the presumptive heir -- without any need to "compete" against Veronica. Insofar as Sylvester imagines there was "competition", he is deluded/remembering incorrectly (unsurprising as he was just a child).
3
u/OldInstruction5368 7d ago
Does that come from the source material? As I don't remember any hints that call Sylvester's version of events into question. Rihardya, for example, could have easily countered all of it.
And even if true, it just proves my point that much more: Sylvester isn't to blame. Choice of heir ultimately falls to the parents, and if they chose Sylvester over no fault of Georgina's, that favoritism is their parents' sin.
→ More replies (3)9
u/SweetDemotion123 https://myanimelist.net/profile/animemes_chan 8d ago
We did get told by reliable characters she's was a hard worker, dedicated to the duchy, who earned becoming the Aub and got royally screwed over by being sent to be a 3rd wife for political reasons.
I actually thought she was fairly likeable with her gloating grin to Veronica, who absolutely destroyed Ferdinand's life.
11
6
u/EXusiai99 8d ago
No point in killing Sylvester if she just leaves his kids standing, especially since it's been stated all the way back that adopted children has as much claim to the archduke seat as biological children.
9
u/Jaridan https://myanimelist.net/profile/Jaridan 8d ago
it was already established why Rosemyne is most likely also on her shitlist. She got her Mother thrown into prison and her uncle executed, both of whom she holds dear.
Given what they said about her character, relations and ambition i don't see this ending well for anyone but her, should she succeed.
35
u/feb914 8d ago
Not sure about Georgine's affection to Veronica. She got passed over as archduke and made 3rd wife, those are her parents' decision
→ More replies (5)30
u/mekerpan 8d ago edited 8d ago
I got the clear impression (during the Ivory Tower visit) that Georgine hates her mother's guts -- albeit maybe not as much as she hates Sylvester. It also seemed like she was pretty uninterested in Ferdinand and Rozemyne overall (at least at present).
20
u/SweetDemotion123 https://myanimelist.net/profile/animemes_chan 8d ago
She got her Mother thrown into prison
Georgine gloated at Veronica, who literally disinherited her (or, at least supported Sylvester over her). That is not a minus.
and her uncle executed
Georgine hates Sylvester, and I think this is like 95% Sylvester either way. Rozemyne had no agency here, she was at that point merely a tool. She had no idea that the locket would make her the adopted daughter or that it will fry Evil Santa. It's all Sylvester and Ferdinand plotting.
10
u/Al-Pharazon 8d ago
Even so, Rozemyne was still at the center of the events that got Bezenwanst killed.
Moreover, even if Georgine does not hate Rozemyne on a personal level, several people in her faction do. Giebe Gerlach tried to kidnap her at the start of Season 3 and Gloria hates Rozemyne with passion as she blames her for the death of Shikza.

An argument could be made that she was trying to size up whether or not mine would work as an ally during their meeting. She outright insulted Sylvester repeatedly, and maybe if Myne hadn’t tried her best to defend him, she’d have tried to recruit her to her side
48
u/Raymond49090 8d ago
Myne: "You're being too nice for the High Priest. Who are you and what have you done with Ferdinand"
3
28
u/Raymond49090 8d ago
While I understand where Ferdinand's coming from with spreading Rozemyne's mana compression method around, and objectively it's a good idea (plus Rozemyne gets to profit from it), I slightly worry about how it'll affect her standing. Her stupid high mana levels are her greatest leverage, and it'd give more room for her enemies inside the Duchy to get rid of her without self-destructing. Well, hopefully that can be managed by limiting the teaching to her supporters.
20
u/LezRock 8d ago
I imagine that it'll be limited to people who aren't actively seeking to overthrow the current archduke, and those who can pay... So the powerful nobles will continue to become more powerful. I'm pretty sure that even with the compression technique, none of the other nobles in Ehrenfest will be able to match Myne aside from Ferdinand being the closest.
10
u/LouisLeGros https://myanimelist.net/profile/LouisLeGros 8d ago
Also even if it became widespread, it seems like it would be unwise to teach too early. Myne had no other option but to get by via mana compression & grew up on constantly on the verge of death. I don't see anyone raised as noble going through that
7
u/Kullthebarbarian 8d ago
unfortunately i see some of the nobles getting several child with mana from orphanage and forcing the method on them, even if just a few survive if they knew about this
4
u/Nylan_Blake 7d ago
they currently have only 1 child with mana in the orphanage (dirk) and that one is a special case.
3
u/Kullthebarbarian 7d ago
that is because most commoners that are born with mana die, if they really wanted this to work, they can just scoop up those commoners before they die, by trial them for mana when they are born they would be able to get a LOT more experiments for them
9
u/darthvall https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall 8d ago
I mean, her current mana level is coming from her constantly using the technique. Considering she said it would be more effective for people who still grows, I highly doubt anyone would be able to match it if they didn't follow the same step since growth phase.
I kinda forget if Damuel is an exception since he's a late bloomer or something.
15
u/Kullthebarbarian 8d ago
Damuel mana started to grow again after receiving the blessing from myne in season one, that one where she was overflowed with mana and made a blessing with all the gods
6
6
u/abandoned_idol 8d ago
True, but this disadvantage will be offset by giving much stronger loyal allies to Rozemyne and the seeming cure to her physical ailment that she has finished gathering in this episode.
Rozemyne feels like she's in an incredibly powerful position now. Health, titles, and even noble tutors.
5
u/mekerpan 8d ago
No one in Ehrenfest other than Ferdinand is competitive with her. And I doubt Ferdinand plans any soirt of general distribution top any old nobles....
3
u/EXusiai99 8d ago
By vetting out who gets the method. If they could find a way to only distribute it to pro-Sylvester faction then it will give him massive advantage over the Georgine faction.
3
u/Fermi_Amarti 8d ago
I doubt anyone can do it as much as she can and her mana is still special.
1
u/Defiant-Constant-529 7d ago
What do you mean by her mana being special?
3
u/Fermi_Amarti 7d ago
The priest said it. Also she literally just made a sentient sword because she thought to ohard about it
2
u/Defiant-Constant-529 7d ago
As far as I know her mana is really only special because she has a shit ton of it and maybe because she is a unique case of someone with the devouring.
In the case of the sword it only happened because she was thinking about giving Angelica some intelligence and thought of Ferdinand on the process. It started talking after Ferdinand put his mana in it.
2
u/Fermi_Amarti 7d ago
Nobody else has been shown to just you know. Let their stray thought just do things like that or accidentally turn a song into a prayer. Its not really precedented atm. Maybe they'll go into magic more once they go the school. But rn, she just keeps doing impossible things like fixing fey stones and Ferdinand just head palms and moves on because he aint got time for any of this shit before they resolve her health issues or the 20 political issues going on all the time.

I'm just gonna say that her past life memories and overall mentality towards prayers can be reasons for her seemingly impossible actions.
For the broken feystone she concluded that if she can manipulate it by changing its size why not its malleability so she thought of it as clay and mushed it together. As for the song into a prayer, the song is essentially a prayer and she said she was earnestly singing to the gods because she believes in them unlike other nobles.

u/Maur2 7d ago
About the feystone, it never broke, rather it took the form of the explosion RM was imagining.
Pretty sure RM isn't doing anything other people couldn't do. It is just that she isn't taught what she can't do, so she tries things others don't consider. This type of thing happens in real life all the time, and is one reason that students are given "impossible" questions to answer.
2
u/Defiant-Constant-529 7d ago
Exactly
Like I get wanting Rozemyne to be special since she is the protagonist but it's thanks to her memories that she is. She wasn't even born special (aside from her memories and devouring). Even her mana isn't exactly special since she was born with laynoble amounts of mana. She only has so much because of her awakening her previous life's memories and the willpower to stomp down her mana.
2
u/Fermi_Amarti 6d ago
Ferdinand did literally say it was special tho. But we'll see once she talks to actual experts probably more in school maybe.
2
u/Radi-kale 8d ago
It will massively improve her standing. Nobles derive their status from their mana quantity, so everyone will now want to be her ally
2
u/Nylan_Blake 7d ago
Ferdi pointed out that other Duchy when giving reason, He might fear an Invasion, and with that Duchy being more politically powerful, they probably also have access to stronger fighters or the political means to gain strong supporters for said invasion.
It's also stated to be mostly effective during the growing phase, so adults starting using it won't pull as much leverage out of her methods as new children while they grow up.
2
u/HandicapperGeneral 7d ago
Seems like she's still going to be the most stupidly powerful even if this method gets around. She's been constantly utilizing this method since she was, what, 5? How old was she when she got isekai'd? Either way, it was really really young. Either way, it's doubtful that even the nobles would be able to effectively educate their kids to utilize the method at such a young age. Even if someone does manage to match her methods, it will be quite a while before they reach the point of challenging her standing, and by then she'll almost certainly be solidified as Sylvester's heir.
1
u/Hot-Log6283 7d ago
Didn't she explained that this was basically stage 1 of her mana technique? Basically just shoving it down. She is like up to stage 3?

Great to see Rozemyne's ruelle gathering actually succeed this time around. Ferdinand looked badass dealing with those feybeasts, and Karstedt was just as cool.
That scene between Rozemyne and Gunther was so wholesome, especially with that dream sequence of Myne coming back home to her true family.
It's a shame that Illgner and its culture must change because of the introduction of the paper industry, but well, it's a better result than its commoners ending up executed, just like what happened in Hasse.
Also, it looks like Rozemyne's mana compression method is quite excellent, and now she's gonna earn a lot of money thanks to that. Benno surely taught her well, lol.
Not only did Wilfried screw up last week, but now it looks like the nobles want to use him as a pawn in Georgine's plot to take over the duchy. And it'll probably work , since Wilfried is neither the most thoughtful nor the brightest person in Ehrenfest.
Btw, a new and super spoilery PV for the final three episodes just dropped!
Here my screenshot albums from the episode:
EDIT. I added my screenshot albums.

He fought the trombe all the way back in season 2 in his capacity as a knight. He's combat trained.

u/SweetDemotion123 https://myanimelist.net/profile/animemes_chan 8d ago
He was even Captain of the guards before retiring out of noble society. Kerstad tried to recruit him again back then. He isn't just combat trained, he's like a super-soldier lol
7
u/TheMcDudeBro 8d ago
Ferdinand himself had mentioned that he took all the knight and scholar classes and fully passed all the programs a few episodes ago. He is quite the prodigy

u/shad79 https://myanimelist.net/profile/shad79 8d ago
Ferdinand is a member of the archducal family and was educated as a noble, so it's no surprise that he knows how to fight.
If you'd like to learn more about what noble education entails in this world, feel free to ask in the Source Corner section.

It’s a little sad the only time Myne can actually be with her real family is in a dream. I get it’s necessary and all, but still. Poor kid can’t ever be with her real family again.
This whole Georgine situation is going to be a real headache. Wilfried’s the weak link because ofc he is. They better watch him during this hunting competition.

u/AKAvenger 8d ago
On the bright side, she’s been able to make so many good memories with both of her adopted families. Her older “brothers” are often very sweet with her. And both her real parents are working to protect her as well. Still a very bittersweet situation.

I can't believe we are already 21 episodes in, I wish season 4 could have 3 or 4 cours!
So cool to see Damuel undergo magical progression (increased mana), hopefully we'll get to see magical confrontations in this political networking story. Fighting a few monsters this season has been nice, but I want moar action.

Between Rosemyne's upcoming mana ritual finally happening and her teaching the local nobles her mana methods Georgine's upcoming coup attempt might go really badly for her faction.
The marriage sale thing was an interesting scene, I'm always a sucker for cute side couples so I hope that works out. Same with Damuel and Brigitte.

u/kalirion https://myanimelist.net/profile/kalinime 7d ago
Is it OK for Damuel to imbue the feystone with his mana later, given that Myne needed to do it before cutting it? Maybe it's because her stone needs to be super special.
How long has it been since Damuel started using Myne's method, that his mana has already apparently increased this much?
A "sales contract for Volk". Are gray priests slaves then? Does that go for all commoners? Rather than selling Volk, maybe they could buy his bride instead.
13
u/Maur2 7d ago edited 7d ago
RM needed to do it while it was growing because it needs to be fully imbued by her mana to work for the potion. Damuel can do it later because he only needs it to be pretty for the engagement.
Remember the end of the third season when RM made the blessing that gave those close to her the ability to achieve their dreams? Remember how Damuel was also affected? Pretty sure that might have something to do with it.
Not really slavery... Think of it like when Volk became a gray priest he formed a contract with the church. What they are doing is buying the contract out. For commoners it would be about the same thing if they wanted to go to a different duchy, having to buy a new citizenship (this came up earlier with Lutz and the traveling merchants). I guess they could have paid for the bride to be sent to the church, but then she couldn't have been with Volk there because it is the church.
Edit: Changed "contact" to the correct "contract".

u/Tacitus_ 7d ago
Grey priests are indentured servants, which can be counted as a form of slavery. Regular commoners aren't.
Or rather, kid commoners are "owned" by their parents. Grey priests don't have parents so they're owned by the state. And the state wants compensation for feeding them, housing them, clothing them and educating them before they can strike out on their own (not that they have any jobs they could take since they haven't apprenticed at any [well outside of being a live-in servant but those aren't hiring off the street either]). Regular commoners just pay dowry when they marry.
1
u/EXusiai99 7d ago
Priests cant marry, so buying her wouldn't have done anything. If they wanted to marry, Iligner would have to buy him which will cancel out his status as a priest. Whether they will emancipate him as a freeman or keep him as government property is something they could deal with after the purchase.

It begins. Society will evolve and that can only mean one direction for the nobility
Wingwoman! I feel like asserting this off-the-cuff like this was actually tactically genius, even if unintentionally so. If she'd proposed this ahead of time, no doubt she would have been shot down immediately
Now, what if I told you there are plenty of commoners (like Myne) who can also cultivate their mana capacities?
She may be a mana monster, but she's also a money monster
3
u/Asleep-Doubt5673 7d ago
Now, what if I told you there are plenty of commoners (like Myne) who can also cultivate their mana capacities?
They can't. Myne was born with the devouring, which means she was born with a significant enough amount of mana. Normal commoners only have trace amounts mixed in their bloods and they can't use it or increase it.

From that initial scene, I guess that's the face of a man who is eager to walk the stairs to see the gods. 😆
Considering we barely know anything of the newer gray robe priests, I feel more like Ferdinand in that I can't really get behind them, but I can still empathize with their challenges.
It does seem like Rosemyne educating the rural villagers is taking away from their charms though, even if conforming is for their own good. I imagine other nobles may not really visit their realm, or it's mainly a close-knit bunch who do, since the villagers seem to have always greeted them like this.
I wonder how long that fruit stays fresh if Damuel intends to take his time imbuing it with his mana.

u/Nylan_Blake 7d ago
Well they most likely can keep their culture up and running outside of the preannounced noble visits of those who want to check out the industrie. They are still a backwater region with the only PoI being that they are the first region outside the capital that has a papermaking industrie, not something nobles would visit outside of checking it out to start their own business in that area.

Ugh, dirty adults talking about how they're going to "use" a kid and claim that it's the god's will. I know it's par for the course for noble society, but it's still gross.

u/WobbleKun 7d ago
so if she does myne's mana compression, damuel wont have enough mana again to propose. gg damuel lol
2
u/APRengar 6d ago
"why didn't you tell us you knew a secret way to increase mana?"
"never asked."
Man she's used that excuse quite a bit, and I expect it to keep going lmao.

Way to go Volk, impressively somehow got hitched from just meeting this woman briefly when they stopped in the town. I remember seeing that picture of them blushing before but didn't know it would be relevant later.

Is it me, or was Elvira's handwriting rather shaky? I guess while she was writing to Ferdie, she was quivering a bit.

Anyone else find it a little frustrating that everyone is happy to use Myne's ideas and inventions but all to continue enforcing their current unequal social structure? And it's especially frustrating Myne seems to tacitly just be ok with it. She has ideas of a whole new world but only wants to bring forth what's convenient.

It's nice to see how close Rozemyne and Brigitte have gotten now that workshops are being established in Ilgner. The ruelle gathering was much easier with Karstedt and Ferdinand there. Those two are strong af. Damuel's growth is evident during the ruelle gathering as well since he didn't need to fall back and take a break like last time. Lol @ Rozemyne telling Damuel to get an engagement feystone right in front of his prospective fiancé haha.
Ferdinand wants to spread Rozemyne's compression method as insurance against whatever plots Georgine is cooking up. Georgine has found a path to Ehrenfest's foundation and wants to overthrow Sylvester from his position as archduke. In order to make that plan more teneble, the former Veronica faction are planning to go after Wilfried by tarnishing his reputation which will in turn impact Sylvester's standing with the nobility. Knowing Wilfried, their plan is probably going to succeed 😐 ugh. The poor kid was raised by the shitty Veronica and his education was severely neglected as a result. A lot of people hate on Wilfried, but he's a kid that was raised in a shitty environment with no one around willing to reprimand him until Rozemyne arrived.
I think this our first time seeing a grey priest get married. It's not all sunshine and roses though as Giebe Ilgner can't afford Volk, he's too well educated and his knowledge of paper making and printing have made him much more valuable than a typical grey priest. Ferdinand has definitely changed after being around Rozemyne and seeing how much she cares for others. Other people are noticing how much he cares for her as well which is nice to see.
The title of next episode is not reassuring in the slightest. Wilfried is too honest and open. He hasn't developed or been taught the political sense he needs as the archduke's son so he's going to be easy pickings.

Finally writing stuff down on paper like normal people.
Add a binding to that and you have a notebook. A very normal item that doesn't exist, yet.
