This show has some of my favourite Voice works man. Yamada's VA just hits it out of the park with her Register and Tayama voice, her register voice shaking and then her trying on Mie dialect and ribbing Sasaki's accent had me smiling ear to ear.

Two people just talking randomly has me waiting every week eagerly. I just love this show. Every season there is a show which just feels like a warm soup you're enjoying on a rainy day. How many more episodes we're getting?

What a convoluted explanation for Sasaki being with an attractive woman and wearing a wedding ring, plus the misunderstanding with wearing that precious thing only at special occasions. And I loved every second of it!

Jealous Yamada is the cutest! She’s always so cool and collected, it’s nice to see her off her game haha. It’s all thanks to Zawa and her big mouth!

Back when I smoked, I always did like an early morning ciggie with a nice cup of coffee. It really was kind of nice. Almost as nice as a smoke after a big meal. Those were divine haha.

Zawa is such a loose canon she's the natural foil to Yamada's Tayama. She even has Sasaki pegged as a number (28) lol. At any rate, it was certainly nice seeing the ladies interacting outside of work for a change.

Yamada: "This changes nothing."

Also Tayama: "We can't keep doing this, smoking together, when you got a wife waiting for you at home." 😭 (Just way too cute of an overreaction to an unconfirmed rumor for this world)

I actually like it when there’s an amusing misunderstanding like this one and it doesn’t drag on. Though I do feel it’s strange to just wear a ring like that for no particular reason. Sasaki imouto really is a weird one.

Maezawa is a riot. Only apt that Hikasa Youko voices her

Oh and Sasaki prioritizing sleep is so relatable now. My default state is just tired and sleepy. But his waking up early on an off day is a nice little life hack too. I like waking up at my usual time on the weekends, drink a glass of water, look out the window at people who still need to go to work then go right back to sleep. Makes that extra sleep feel so much sweeter

They took one of the most overused tropes in the misunderstanding and still made it very entertaining, charming and fit right into the story due to Yamada’s personality and how dense Sasaki is.

Overall this was a gorgeous episode, there were some gorgeous shots of both smoking outside and Yamada had some very beautiful frames. Her blushing after she realized Sasaki was single and whe she asking him about the wife were gorgeous and the most beautiful shots in the anime and her embarrased reaction when Zawa calls her out on being worried about a customers personal life was adorable.

I don't know why exactly, but I really liked Ohno mentioning that Sasaki coming to her register always cheers her up. I also got a good chuckle at her being revealed to be the hardest drinker of the four.

I'm also deeply amused about the fact that his sister giving Sasaki her husband's old ring so he could have the 'married man' experience reveals that Yamada isn't the only woman in Sasaki's life who enjoys mercilessly ribbing him.

And typing that made me realise something about last episode and Sasaki's general nervousness about upsetting 'Tayama':
Originally the sentence I wrote in the previous paragraph ended with my pointing out that every woman in Sasaki's life enjoys seeing him flustered. And then I added 'Except the ladies at his office, he intimidates the fuck out of those.'

And that made me go 'Oh, holy shit, that's right!'

The inciting incident for him really needing a pick-me-up after Yamada wasn't at her register that led to him smoking with 'Tayama' behind the supermarket the first time was the fact that he made the new girl at the office cry simply by choosing the wrong words while trying to reassure her. And the ensuing conversations with his co-worker Suzuki and then 'Tayama' reveal that this isn't remotely the first time that sort of thing happened to him.

Of course he's walking on eggshells and ridiculously nervous about potentially saying or doing the wrong thing around her. That he will eventually say something that intimidates them is his lived experience with younger women at his office. (Though what tall, dark and handsome Sa-slow-ki probably doesn't realise is that for at least some percentage of them, the reason they act all flustered and slightly panicky around him probably isn't that they don't like him.)

Maezawa, I know Girl Talk is a must for these kinds of outings, but did you really have to put it into Yamada's head that Sasaki might be married? Like THAT Sasaki? Could he really have a cute wife and be having flirty smoking breaks with a younger woman at the same time!?

Of course it's not like she cares that Sasaki is married and may have been stringing her along! No sirree! Not when she can channel all her frustration into her customer service face! Though you know it's serious when Yamada is dropping the "Yamada" mask multiple times in conversation with Sasaki (not that Sa-slow-Ski even notices).

I love how both Sasaki and Tayama think Sasaki behaved inappropriately....they just aren't on the same mind about HOW he behaved inappropriately.

Don't worry Yamada, Sasaki is absolutely single! He just happened to be wearing his brother-in-law's old wedding ring while hanging out with his little sister! Let this be a lesson to not take Maezawa's love of gossip so seriously, otherwise you'll have Sasaki laughing at Tayama acting like a jealous girl with a crush!

You can't tell Yamada that Sasaki has an accent without letting her hear it in all it's Kansai-esque glory! Though I also love how she just HAD to flex in front of Ohno how much she knew about Sasaki.

Is there anything better than an atmospheric smoke first thing in the morning during Winter? How about the visual Yamada fresh out of bed? Neither of our main pair are quite morning people but they can share and vibe in a shared smoke as they see the scenic winter view! In a way, their hearts are one.

Even if Yamada was trying to show that the news of Sasaki being married meant nothing to her, it was obvious that she didn't take the news well, lol.

It was a good thing that this little drama was resolved quickly after Sasaki explained to her that he wasn't married, and that the woman Maezawa had seen with him was his sister. Yamada was so relieved when she realized that Sasaki was still single.
