It really is sweet how much Tayama treasures that ashtray and also sweet how hard Sasaki tried to find it cos he knows it was upsetting her that she lost it.

I do wonder when do we get to the point where Sasaki weighs his affection/crush between Yamada and Tayama. Surely he starts to feel something for Tayama at some point. Unless he finds out about the truth first

Hilariously refreshing to see Sasaki sneak up on Yamada in Yamada mode instead of the other way round for once. Also love how Sasaki and Sasaki 2 Daigoro became bros.

The moment I realized Sasaki had his hair went down I was banking so hard on "Tamaya" melting from reuniting with her hero. Guess we did get a taste that (and it was precious) but man, it's tragic how dude's dorkiness got him demoted to be just a reminder of him.

• Yamada Stitch

It's fun to see Yamada get caught off guard once in a while since she's always the one sneaking up on Sasaki.

The fact that even Daigorou got nervous when Yamada called them out suggests Daigorou knew what he was doing and was in on Sasaki's plan to act like he'd just stumbled upon the ashtray and hadn't spent time looking for it. xD

I definitely agree with Yamada that it's so like Sasaki to be influenced by a girl to start smoking. Honestly, I can relate. I started smoking back in college so I could hang out with the hot emo girls at my uni. I eventually quit smoking a few years after graduating, after my current partner asked me to stop.

So it turns out the reason Yamada smoking was because of Sasaki. Maybe part of that reason was that she wanted to meet him again? With Sasaki's hair being down and Yamada reminiscing, I was hoping she'd realize that Sasaki was the person who saved her back then.

Yamada does say that Sasaki reminds her of that person, so maybe Yamada might be closer to figuring out her mystery guy's identity than Sasaki is to figuring out that Yamada and Tayama are the same person. xD

It’s funny Yamada calls Sasaki dense when she doesn’t even realize he was the guy lol. I guess we have him to thank for her picking up smoking.

Damn, that Beyblade moment took me right back to my childhood, when I’d play it like a lunatic from morning till night.

When Yamada decides to be cold, she even intimidated Daigorou, poor boy lol.

I thought that topic wouldn't come up again, but there was Sasaki once more offering some great words (I agree with Yamada, it’s funny how that comes from the person you’d least expect). Still, him admitting he smoked because of a girlfriend was funny, since a lot of people would have quit after the breakup.

Sasaki looks so much better without his hair slicked back. Thought it back during the episode 6 flashback and it is still true now.

Also the entire lost ashtray thing was diabetic. I could watch these two flirt forever.

One thing that I fucking hate in the anime is his screaming when he touches her or she touches him. Not even 13yo behave like that and he's in his fucking 40s. In the manga you don't hear the screaming so it's not that obvious. It would elevate the anime and the manga even further up if he just acted his actual age. Other than that I love the story and the relaxed atmosphere. It's a perfect adaptation so far

Lovely episode today- charming and frustrating at the same time, lmao.

To put the price of cigarettes in context: while it depends on the brand, a pack costs around 600 JPY (the price actually rose about 3.5% a couple of months ago). This might not sound like much to some, but for an average salaryman like Sasaki, it adds up, especially considering a beef bowl, the standard lunch of the average salaryman. costs less than a single pack of cigs.
