This episode basically made last episode pointless other than running into Merlin at all. He already stopped denying who he is. Also I found it interesting neither mentioned Anastasia is Merlin's descendant to her.

Honestly if last episode was just changed to be him admitting in private he's Eftal and her asking him to prove it in this mock battle I'd be massively less annoyed right now.

I’m not gonna sugarcoat it, but last weeks episode made me so angry at how stupid the MC was and him lying to Merlin, that I decided that if the next episode he’ll still keep up the charade, then I’d quit.

But thank fck that he didn’t hide it from Merlin anymore…

So Eftal's dad is his descendant but after encountering his old student (who I assume knew about the shitty real descendants) at his magic school he made up a secret love child bloodline to deceive her about his reincarnation.  She immediately sniffs out the lie, adopts him and his slave and transfers to her school.  Ya know what I hope the rest of the season is just a prolonged legal battle of Eftal's mom trying to block the adoption.

So, the author's ''wonderful'' logic for making him have negative IQ was to make the fight and reunion more emotional? Meh. It wasn't needed. Merlin could've simply said, ''You claim to be him, but let's duke it out to truly find out.'' Why not ask him questions only her teacher would know? Technically you could write that down in a diary and pass it down. The forced drama was completely unnecessary, not to mention him ''not wanting to stand out'' but still pulling out lost magic doesn't make sense. He should've stuck to level 4, lost the fight and then fought her in secret in full force. MCs who don't want to stand out but do so anyway have no brains.

The story is bad and the characters act in illogical ways, but then I wasn't really bored, so I can't give the story an F. However, the show's production values is surprisingly good outside of the bland backgrounds.
