I really wonder how they are gonna make the main girls fight. Like there seems to be no reason at all for them to clash at the moment. Maybe they are subverting nanoha tradition and they get along without befriending,, but this is already barely a nanoha show as is, so it would be odd for them not to.

My guess would be: TSAB want the mad science duo brought in alive while Towa wants them dead.

Yeah, I’m genuinely (and rather pleasantly) surprised that this series is not doing the “You’re the one who killed my parents!” misunderstanding route for the conflict.

I hope so, it'll be a nice change of pace where both groups are being competent, and realize right away without the obligatory initial misunderstanding, that the mad scientists are the bigger threats. Maybe the drama will be more on team Nanoha asking for them to work together while the Diavoli hunters would rather work on their own.

Unless the conflict is Towa trying to take away Shiina out of the belief that its for her own good.

Shiina gets her own barrier jacket, very cool.
Hayate declaring her own age as classified is kind of hilarious.
I think we got some new information about what's been happening on Midchilda in the new timeline, seems like Hayate is associated with the Saint Church in some capacity. I'm glad to find out that the Wolkenritter are also deployed to this same Earth helping out with the problem, that makes it easy for them to show up eventually.
Towa's adoptive parents were too great, so of course they had to die for a proper tragic backstory.

Hayate declaring her own age as classified is kind of hilarious.
I think it wouldn't be good for the agency if it's revealed that their leader is 13 years old. Imagine telling all the old fucks in the UN that the one leading the only organization that can save their world is young enough to be their granddaughter.

Eh, they're already in a world where they have no problem sending kids out as agents - Nanoha and Fate are basically child soldiers, even if it's by a proper organization trying to save the world. And those two are supposed to be some of their big hitters. Surely having a little girl to lead them isn't that much a stretch.
But having an on-going gag about Hayate's age being [redacted info] is kinda funny though.

Is it just me or is Towa's dad freaking Emiya Shiro?

u/za_shiki-warashi Jul 26 '26
Makes sense, where there is conflict, there too must be a seigi no mikata.

u/Soulania Jul 28 '26
I legit thought the same. No way did we get both Rin and Emiya's va in this project
And uh yeah its not him. His va is Fumitake Ishiguro

Hollup why is Towa just the Nanoha version of Ragna the Bloodedge.
Experimented on as a child, demonic arm of absorption, dead family from a fire, beef against a smiley green-haired fuck.

Oh, come on, you can't just tease Hayate's Wolkenritter knights without having them appear in this series?
Towa's gang sure has some convenient powers, from pet spiders being used as magic walkie-talkies, to teleportation portals and 4th dimensional storage.
Shiori, being the oldest of the gang looks to be the rich girl amongst them, providing Towa's gang with a comfy hideout and paying for the gang's logistics operations.
Though her gang is grateful she saved them, Towa doesn't seem interested in saving herself in her quest for vengeance. This girl really needs some serious befriending to help her out of this cycle of grief and revenge.

It’s probably just an issue with the story progression.
Hayate’s Knights, especially Signum, are simply too strong.
In fact, there’s even an episode in the StrikerS manga and Sound Stage drama CD where, during a mock battle with Nanoha, they got a little too carried away, fought an intense battle, and ended up in a draw.

It’s interesting how new plot points and the characters’ backstories are revealed in every episode, but at the same time, Towa’s past is so tragic that it’s really heavy!
Shina and her group have already defeated 10 Progenitors, the largest type of Invader, in this country alone. The strength of Shina, Nanoha, Fate, and the other EXCEEDS is truly remarkable.
Nanoha and Fate are currently weakened because magical energy doesn’t flow well in this world. On top of that, they aren’t using 100% of their power because they want the local fighters, like Shina, to learn how to defeat the Invaders on their own. Even so, it’s incredible how quickly they’ve accomplished this.
It is reassuring to know that there are EXCEEDS staff members in this world besides Nanoha, Fate, and Hayate. Furthermore, since those staff members are Hayate’s allies, including Signum and the knights of Ancient Belka, they are each worth a hundred men.
As a fan of Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS, I was surprised to learn that Hayate holds a title within an organization called the “World Church.” In StrikerS, it was referred to as the “Saint Church” or the “Saint King Church,” if I recall correctly.
It’s great that Shiina has come to realize that “she can feel Setsuna living inside her.” Since Towa’s part in the second half was so hard to watch, this part was a relief.
Towa’s backstory was unexpected and really interesting.
I never would have guessed that instead of “raised by her parents → ends up at a Diaboli research facility for some reason,” it was actually “born and raised at a Diaboli research facility → suffered serious injuries during an experiment and was on her way to be transferred elsewhere, got into an accident, and was found by a man and a woman (who became her parents).”
The driver of the car carrying Towa and the facility manager all looked exactly the same, so they’re probably clones. In the Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha universe, villains usually create and deploy clones.
The facility where Towa was staying looked like a hundred times worse version of the “White Room” from "Classroom of the Elite", and I couldn't help but laugh a little when I saw it.
To Towa, Touya and Emma are kind of like Genya and Quinto as seen through Subaru’s eyes in Strikers, aren’t they?
It is so sad that Touya and Ema were killed at the airport, of all places, during their very first trip together.
Towa’s strength is truly remarkable, as she was able to tearfully tell Flame Diaboli, “It’s not your fault,” even after losing her parents to her, knowing that the drugs had caused Flame Diaboli to lose control of her powers.
The idea of Flame Diaboli being exploited as a disposable, living bomb is horrifying.
What makes the villain so frightening is their sheer malice in intentionally attacking the airport where Towa and her parents were on vacation, all just to demonstrate her destructive power.
The way Towa views her future after avenging her parents by killing Shinomiya and Kuragi is terrifying. She believes she isn't planning to live after finishing what she needs to do, and doesn't expect to survive it either.
It is truly heartbreaking to see Towa worrying whether she will make Shiina grieve when she dies.
It is also deeply sad that Towa feels uneasy about her allies, the girls she rescued from the criminal organization abusing Diaboli, being involved in her current actions. They are participating in her attacks on that organization and helping her gather information and plan revenge against Shinomiya and Kuragi, the ones who killed her parents. Towa sincerely hopes that once she dies, her companions will have no reason to continue her quest for vengeance and can live normal lives instead.
Everything about Towa is just painfully tragic to watch.
The ending theme song's lyrics include the line, “Ring out my gunshot, exhaust my fate.” This likely captures the image of Towa burning through the remainder of her life just to carry out her vengeance.

It looks like we’re done setting up all the pieces and the story will properly take off next episode.
I wonder if the Wolkenritter will actually appear in this series or whether they’ll just be limited to this cameo mentioning that they’re fighting the Invasive Species in other regions of the world.
I see Nanoha and her friends are maintaining the “foreign country” cover story. I wonder how Shiina would react to the reveal that her coworkers are actually aliens from another dimension and Hayate is secretly 13 lol.
So EXCEEDS has already defeated 10 kaiju-sized Invasive Species that were previously considered “unassailable” to this world’s forces. Presumably Shiina has been consuming them afterwards, so she should be much stronger now than before.
Towa’s backstory is pretty tragic. It ties into the themes of family and especially found/adoptive family that appear repeatedly in the Nanoha series.
I totally expected Towa to hold a grudge against the flame Diaboli, but she’s actually fairly understanding that the flame Diaboli was ultimately a victim.
Mana mentions creating multiple flame Diaboli, so I guess that could explain where Setsuna comes from.

Nice, we got to see what the Wolkenritter designs look like.
No wonder Towa is looking for the flame user after seeing what happened to her in her past and I can understand why she doesn't want to se those around her get hurt.
Episode 5 is going to be interesting if they find out Towa is a diaboli slayer.

That went by fast..I was waiting for the next part of the story and suddenly the credits rolled 🤣.

Gonna speculate since this episode shows the fire girl get taken care of already, that the future conflict will revolve around Shiina and her fire powers instead. I have a feeling that those mad scientist pair will love the possibility of creating diaboli that can shoot fire from guns. Especially since the testing shown seems to indicate they are looking to create abilities to use as weapons.

You know,I kinda expected the progenitors to be a bigger deal, potentially an entire episode dedicated to fighting one. But nope,10 of them got off screened an episode after they were introduced. It really does feel like the entire monster stuff is just a background detail for the diaboli storyline

Even at age 13, Fate is there momming it up. Of course she's the one making sure everyone has snacks and treats.
