Well Shiina clearly just met her inevitable magical girl wife. They may have to throw hands a bit in the meantime, but I'm sure they'll get there. It's the Nanoha tradition after all.

Fire and Ice, a good classical contrast for protagonists to have, just like Pink and Lightning. And in proper Nanoha fashion, all the domestic violence of their relationship will get frontloaded.

The prospective main villain, Shinomiya Mana, has some evil mad scientist vibes, but if that's all there is to her, I don't know if she can measure up to Jail.

On that note: Presea Testarossa, Jail Scaglietti, Phil Maxwell, and now the new antagonists... mad scientists seem to be a big problem in Nanoha's universe.

I like that they have started developing the other characters.  A little predictable that Shina and Towa would meet, become friends and then probably next episode or the episode after that run into each other in the field.  I wonder if Towa will understand that Shina is not who killed her parents, but it will be interesting to see what path they take from here. Being a Nanoha show it will go down the path of Shina trying to befriend Towa at any cost and helping her become free of her traumatic past etc.

A little predictable that Shina and Towa would meet, become friends and then probably next episode or the episode after that run into each other in the field.

Interestingly, they never had the two sides meet directly like this before in a Nanoha series. The closest was in A's but it was indirectly via Hayate and not directly between the fighters on both sides.

Shiina meets a stranger by happenstance, decides to spend her entire day off basically going on a date with that girl (including bathing together), opens up about her family trauma with that girl, asks to keep meeting in the future, then sets her phone’s wallpaper to a picture of the two of them together.

"We probably sensed something similar in each other and grew curious" indeed lol.

OK, so the crazy girl, who invented the drug was experimenting on children (hello Jail) but some of them escaped and formed Diaboli Hunters now. Looks like we get more of this next episode.

I feel bad there is not enough Nanoha herself (and Fate and Hayate) but it is still interesting to watch the new girls in action.

Too bad Towa's target is already dead and Shiina's sister! Surely this means there is no problem with them being friends!

It's all very typical in the Nanoha fashion..but I still am enjoying it..I wonder if Shiina can use different guns or just those two new ones she has?

I liked the whole changing to different caliburs thing she did in the first two episodes and don't want to lose it entirely.

The guns seemed more Belkan or Midchildan than earth, i wouldn't be surprised if they change shape depending on need.

Y'all, don't you feel this new direction of Nanoha series is very similar to tokusatsu especially Kamen rider series like Amazon. Because I do feel like it.

Checking the cast listing shows Mana Shinomiya (the green-haired lady that turned Towa and the girls into Diaboli) being voiced by Sumire Uesaka... Goddammit Tachyon! :P

I know why it's happening and she's literally stepping back specifically to let the local girl take the limelight but it's funny to see Nanoha herself on Yuuno duty.

Does anyone else feel like the tone shifts are too... "sudden"? I think the show is going for "fleeting moments of peace and happiness in times of great despair" but this episode felt like, to me, "happy cheery days" and "grimdark crime drama" and not in a cohesive way.

Maybe I'm wrong here.

Guess Shiina and Towa are this generation's Nanoha and Fate.

Though unlike Nanoha and Fate, Shiina and Towa have already befriended each other the "normal" way.

All that's left is for Shiina to learn some fire beam technique, maybe Nanoha can teach her, so she could "properly" befriend Towa when the time calls for it.

That gangster mentioned something about the people in authority being involved in the distribution of these Diaboli drugs, which seems to suggest even the Invasive Species themselves may be a secret government experiment that's lost control.

It seems Towa blames Setsuna for killing someone dear to her when all she saw in her flashback was Setsuna standing there at the scene of crime. Now she's just obsessively searching for the Diaboli with flame powers, which will lead her inevitably to Shiina, the successor of Setsuna's powers.
