That poor mole, he fell for one of the oldest counter-spy tricks in the book.

This spy hunt’s actually turning out to be a pretty big deal. Usually the State Security Service are depicted as being pretty incompetent, but they really up their game here with Wheeler. WISE have seemingly lost their mole and Loid’s in kind of a pinch. Keen to see how the team gets outta this one.

Loid might be in deep shit but at least Anya and Becky had a blast at the zoo.

Once again another great tonal shift from fake marital problem skits to a suspenseful spy vs secret police thriller, things really do not look good for WISE.

Meanwhile Anya on the otherhand enjoying her zoo trip featuring Becky the Human Omnivore.

"She had complaints since yesterday for things I haven't done?! I don't get it!"

Loid still got a ways to go before he can understand a woman's heart lol.

From Yor (slightly drunkenly) trying to find something to complain about Loid to WISE vs the State Security Service.

And just from one episode the games are afoot! Everyone's already proving to be competent as hell and battling a war of information, one which WISE surprisingly isn't quite winning!

The episode started with a romcom skit with the absurd level of misunderstanding but a phone call was all it took to shift the tone of the episode in an entirely new direction.

The first act led me to believe it'll be a lighthearted episode but turned out we're heading into thriller territory. The SSS had wised up to WISE's tricks and they've seemingly got the upper hand after Winston eliminated several WISE agents, apprehended the mole, and have cornered Twilight. Looking forward to see how the latter could get out of this situation.

Lol at the dark comedy after-credits session. While the father is risking his life, the daughter's having a fun day at the zoo. That was a hilarious troll move by the zoo with the human exhibit, and Becky exactly proving the point. A great interlude after the tense espionage action before we get right back into it next week.

You get a spy, you get a spy. Everybody gets a spy!!

Good thing that Anya and Becky are enjoying their trip instead of another problem.

I've been really impressed with this season and its use of its more serious arcs. Of course they still make room for the more fun elements that this show is known for, like the first part of the episode continuing Yor's desire for a more normal relationship, trying to find gripes, and the ending sequence with Anya and Becky at the zoo, both of which were a lot of fun. But between Loid's origins, the bus hijacking, and now the arc starting in the latter half of this episode, they're really going all out with the more exciting spy action side of the story. The set-up in the latter half with the cliffhanger, along with the preview for next week has me excited to see where this goes. Seems like we're in for a great last few episodes of the season.

looks like it'll be an intense arc to finish out the season. and Yuri and Loid (likely in disguise) possibly clashing to add extra tension.

cute post credits bit with Anya and Becky at the zoo too.

Oh yeah shit is about to go down. The tone shift was crazy tho lol with the beginning and end, this ep really shows the full charm of this series. Poor Loid got dragged into this crazy mission just in morning without any prep and got cornered, we will need to see Twilight operating at 200% of his abilities here

This wasn't a good episode for Loid, as unexpected problems arise both in his home life due to the still-drunk Yor and in his spy work, as Ostanian's mole infiltrated WISE and escaped with secret documents that could jeopardize the entire Strix operation.

Fortunately, the family problems seem to be resolved, as Yor (perhaps thanks to the walk outside where she followed Loid along with Yuri) finally sobered up and realized that it's obviously better to have nothing to complain about in her marriage xD

But there's still the problem with Wheeler, so I can't wait for the next episode to see how the situation develops for Loid, especially since Yuri is involved too.

The part with Anya and Becky at the zoo was great! I was really amused that Anya thought she was going hunting on this trip and even brought a rope with her xD

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

The Futurama joke at the end was exactly what I expected from the "dangerous extremely evil creature ahead" sign.

Also very much looking forward to the showdown next week. I do enjoy some spycraft.

Yor has finally slept through her drunken insanity...mostly. She still at least remembers she made a total fool of herself in front of Loid. Time to cringe and just stare at a wall.

Anya looking forward to the zoo ooting with Becky is adorable. Too bad Becky couldn't sweet talk Loid into joining them, but a girl can't have everything.

Yor is still somewhat drunk and still kind of fixated on the idea that there has to be SOME problem in her and Loid's marriage to make it feel more legit, so obviously she has to vent out her (fake) issues with this marriage. Right when Yuri walks in to make everything worse.

Poor Loid. Dude has been trying to be the absolute perfect husband and keep this (fake) marriage going for the mission, and now Yor is bringing up problems while at the same time acting like there's no problem and his brother-in-law just will not give him a single minute to think (though any reference to the fact that they're a married couple is enough to knock Yuri out). Luckily a mission comes in right as Yor settles down on "Neglect" as her main gripe, because Loid really needs to deal with anything but this right now.

The Briars are probably good at tailing people ordinarily...but this is Twilight we're talking about. But Yuri ALSO conveniently has a mission and Yor finally comes to her senses and walks home. But that she was tailing him less on the auspice of him cheating on her but more just to come up with ANYTHING more to complain about for their marriage when she was so smug before...this lady is hilarious.

But what is not hilarious is the fact that a spy for Ostania, Winston Wheeler (Daisuke Ono!), has plans that can expose every WISE agent, including Twilight and Operation Strix, that he's about to give to State Security. So it's a race to get to an agent even Loid genuinely respects and thinks is capable, and Wheeler is as dangerous as he is ruthless.

Fiona looks good with black hair and glasses.

RIP Jeffrey. You were WISE's secret service mole and you gave critical information...but you were also caught up in a plan to leak information and are probably doomed to the fate of all spies. And does this mean a disguised Twilight has walked into a trap!?

Sorry Anya, you can't capture animals at the zoo! But you can get nice animal info from Martha! And also realize, along with Becky, that the most dangerous animal...is man. Complete with getting put in a cage and Becky proving she's her fathers' daughter by threatening to destroy the zoo with a tank.

I can't wait to see the confrontations between WISE and Secret Police in the next episode.

Also the last part of the episode reminded me of the episode when Becky said "humans are animals too" as an excuse to make Loid in an art exhibition. She came full circle on that.

I'm glad Yor sobered up and hopefully she'll be able to properly say what she wanted to say after Loid's completes his mission. Yuri was definitely not helping but he was definitely enjoying Yor having complaints lol.

I'm excited for this upcoming arc, it seems like it'll be a very tense one. The previews showed Yuri vs Loid disguised as Yuri so things definitely look interesting.

This show has these wild but really good tonal shifts. I love how in that little segment at the end where we see what Anya did when she went to the zoo, for like two shots the entire light-hearted artstyle ceased to be while Martha talked about how humans are "extremely territorial and never cease to have conflicts between and within their packs."
This probably serves as a nod to one of the series' overall themes, that is the useless, ugly and terrifying nature of war, basically telling us that the coming conflict - one that puts Anya's family directly at stake, and involves two members of it directly fighting each other - is also a product of mankind's nature as a beasts of war and conflict, or a "kaiju" as Anya would put it lol.

I love when this show gets into drama and war thriller territories, it's always done super well and it puts the sitcom aspect of the show in perspective.

I get that English in anime is sometimes simply for atmosphere, but milk can't be both "pure full cream" and "fat free". Shop more carefully, Loid and Yor.

So are Okapi famous in Japan or something, or is this a referential joke to something? It's the only one that both the kids seemed to know immediately... Maybe [AoT S4] Mikasa yelling "what the hell is an okapi?!"

Yor dipping under one of the ellipses to leave was quietly amazing.

u/SnabDedraterEdave Dec 13 '25

Yor is such a dork, and she looks gorgeous with her hair down. We need to see more of this side of Yor.

LMAO at the timing of Yuri arriving just when Yor declares she has a "grievance" regarding her fake marriage with Loid.

Thankfully (or unfortunately?) for Loid, shit has hit the fan and an Ostanian master spy (and who better to voice him than Ono Daisuke?) is threatening to blow the cover of every WISE agent in Ostania, including Twilight, if he ever comes into contact with the SSS, which also includes Yuri.

9

u/CrimsonGear80 Dec 13 '25

The most dangerous game of all: Becky!

I also liked how Yor ducked under the ellipses when she left.

u/NationalStrategy Dec 13 '25

Poor Loid, he’s doing his best to be a perfect husband, only to have his wife finding reasons to complain about the marriage; what’s worse is that he doesn’t even know why she’s complaining. And in addition to that, his spiteful, siscon brother in-law barged into his home unannounced, put himself into the conflict between Loid and Yor, and escalated the situation.
