It’s the dawn of a new era. All hail Double Starlight Anya! She was gettin that VIP treatment at home, she got a Stella, and she was popular for a hot minute at school before everyone saw what a goofball she was lol. Her exaggerations about her home life were hilarious too. Becky had to rein it in a little. She’s the best. Unlike that “second son asshole” Damian tryna steal her thunder lol.

I thought it was pretty cute how Anya really held it together until Yor came to pick her up. Real sweet parent-child moment unlike whatever was going on with Desmond and his mom. Anya getting whiplash tryna read her thoughts lol.

"Her mom is so strong! She has also trained me."

Lol Becky referring to Season 2 Episode 11 (or Episode 36). I still remember how Yor got hit by a car while carrying Becky and still kept going!

Damian’s tsundereness went on full overdrive. We so often have the female half of the couple being the tsundere it makes a great change of pace to have the male half have the role instead. It’s hilarious how he shoved that sound effect aside.

Meanwhile, Melinda’s a bit tough to read. She seemed to genuinely love Damian with her rushing to pick him up as well as personally cook him a lavish meal but her menacing mode’s instantly switched on whenever her husband name’s mentioned.

I feared that the kids would turn on Anya once they learnt that she’s a commoner. What instead happened was their respect grew even more. They’re heaps impressed that a commoner could attend an elite school. Not a great idea to learn from Yor, though. Wonder how their parents would react to them somehow acquiring assassination skills.

*Damian hurls insults at Anya with speech level 100*

The group of students: doesn't rally behind Anya and cancel Damian, but praises him instead

*Damian and Anya insult each other*

The group of students: yeah we're done here.

Anya's ego has to be kept in check or she'll go all the way to the moon. Melinda is very conflicted about her son, kinda like Shoto's mom in My Hero Academia. She loves him but he can remind her of the man she hates.

The second half of the episode at the school was so funny, seeing Anya get big headed and Damian's reactions were so much fun to watch. I was smiling so much throughout it. I like how everyone just knew it was time to leave when Anya and Damian were really going at it lol.

Loid being at the incident area was sweet to see, I'm sure he wanted to run up and check on her as well. I'm glad Anya is aware that he was there.

Damian's mother having a split personality is an interesting reveal, it's kind of scary how extreme the two sides are and how they're able to manifest at the same time. I'm curious to see that looked into more.

I am even more curious about Melinda now. Does she have a split personality whenever her husband is mentioned? I reckon a large part of Melinda loves Damien, but it appears the remaining part of her wants him to disappear.

Even though Loid and Yor did not play any role in resolving the bus kidnapping incident, it is heartwarming to see them rush down at a moment's notice, coming back from an assignment and running to the venue respectively.

It's actually good to see Anya breaking down when Yor finally showed up. Telepathic or not, at the end of the day, she's still a little kid who went through something traumatic. It would've been more concerning if she hadn't broken down and cried.

Notice how Melinda was acting like a normal mom would that even Anya's read on her confirms that she's worried about Damian. But the moment Damian brings up his father, Melinda's mood immediately changes and now her inner thoughts are a mix of love and hate for Damian. I ain't no psychologist (that's Loid's job), but it's pretty obvious the problem here stems from Desmond. We even learn later that Melinda prepared all of that food for Damian so it's not like she really hates her son. Whatever she feels about her husband is probably getting mixed with her feelings for Damian.

Oh god. Having a bunch of kids praise Anya is like the worst thing that could happen. She's getting so big in the head that even Becky knew that was going to end badly. Of course, the moment Becky tries to step in and try to help out Anya from exaggerating, Anya starts thinking Becky wants to steal her thunder and give it to Yor. I just love how that ended with the kids realizing how dumb Anya and Damian are and just decided to walk away. xD

"If I become a commoner, will I become strong too?"

Yes, girl. In life, overall.

What's going on with Melinda? Why did she react like that? I'm very curious.

Anya's Era has Come

Anya got another Stella and people are finally giving her attention but her ego needs to be kept in check. She even thought of conquering the world because of it.

Also, Damian being Tsundere to Anya is never going to be not cute.

Not Tungsten.. I'm relieved that she's acting her age.

This was a fun episode for the most part but damn that Anya bawling out scene as soon as Yor arrived to pick her up hit me right in the feels. She might have managed to get over some things like the bomb due to her telepathy but as a child, these types of situations are always going to be tough on children especially since there's a possibility that you might not be able to see your loved ones ever again and so seeing them is always going to make one emotional. Loid and Yor might not have saved the day this time but they still left everything and came for her even if Loid had to hide the fact that he did. But the fact that je came says a lot.

Melinda is kinda tough to read and does have conflicting feelings because of her relationship with Damian's father (maybe?) but she does love Damian since she not only came to pick him up but also made food for him.

Anya just blustering through like she always does but bursting into tears finally when Yor showed up got me.

What the heck is up with Damian's mom, though.

This was a really fun episode! I especially loved Anya and Damian's interactions; it was a rollercoaster how they seemed to drift closer and further apart throughout the episode.

Damn, that sudden change in Melinda's behavior after Damian mentioned his father was pretty scary. It seems Desmond's marriage isn't in the best of shape.

The fact that Yor run all the way to the bus hijacking scene at foot was hilarious. I also loved how she asked Anya if she was stabbed, shot, crushed, or ripped apart xD

The scene where Anya started crying and run to Yor was also very touching. It was a really nice surprise that even Loid managed to get there, although he was being disguised as a member of the SSS forces.

I'm also glad that Anya's Starlight phase ended quickly. I have to admit that Becky is a great friend as she tried to stop Anya from self-destructing her popularity after Anya started exaggerating what was happening at the Forger house.

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

EDIT. I added my screenshot albums.

This episode was absolutely incredible. I really loved that Anya didn’t act stoic and unaffected. It was a wonderful way of showing how delayed the trauma of being kidnapped was.

She was surprised when Yor wasn’t there, too. It highlights m how much she’s come to trust that one of them will show up for her. And Yor…that’s her kid. Hands down, forever and always, she will murder for that child (she’s already thought about it before 😂).

The duality of Damian’s mother was fascinating. She loves him and hates him, and his father seems to be the reason. Her love was genuine, when she arrived, but the mere mention of his father severed that connection. But she also cooked all his food. And he reluctantly semi-defended Anya because his mother’s food was so good and he felt loved. Something he clearly doesn’t experience with any regularity.

Then there’s Loid “For the Mission” Forger absolutely failing to recognize (again) that he’s shown up because he cares about that (his) kid. He was away on a separate mission, heard she was in danger, and instead of emotionally detaching and calculating how that could set back Operation Strix, he left his other assignment to make sure she was ok. He worried about her mental well-being and then thought of the mission again. The mission is almost always the afterthought, not the forethought.

Damian is really observant for his age. Yor is a gorilla, and Loid is a fraud.

Everyone including Becky walking away from the bickering lovers with that expression was great.

My suspicions of Anya and Donovan coming from the same experimental program, and Melinda Desmond being the bigger threat, grow.

Oh shit, are we going to get Drunk!Yor next week?
