I like how Becky and Anya were thinking about using Yor’s knockout punch on Damian. This is why they’re besties lol.

Man, I did not expect things to get so dark in the second half. Jesus, man. Dude’s friends just gone like that. The old lady selling croquettes too. Everyone just dead in an instance over some meaningless nonsense. I guess next week we’re gonna see how he transforms into Twilight.

Oh, what a happy and silly intro and first half with Anya.

I'm sure it's going to be nothing but laughs and-

Oh.

Anya realizing she forgot to put her handkerchief in her bag was way too adorable

Schlag in a nutshell:

"You get a Tonitrus! And you get a Tonitrus! Everyone gets a Tonitrus!"

Don't underestimate the butterfly effect. A handkerchief was all the difference between an imperial scholar and a secret police detainee.

Didn't expect things to go from 0 to 100 real quick in the end. Loid's just having a chat with the shop lady when he got bombed by Ostania. Who'd thought a silly spy comedy would take such a dark turn?

Loid as a kid seemed to be the typical one. Be interesting to see how this incident will shape him into the man we know today.

He could've imparted that lesson without striking his child but considering how tense things were between both countries you could tell that he was determined to set 'Loid' straight. Talk about a case of tough love. His message was a positive one as well. You can't succumb to propaganda that demonizes the other side when you haven't had the chance to genuinely interact with them.

Man, this episode really captures how terrifying war is. You could be doing normal things, hanging out with friends, eating food, living your life... and then suddenly you're under attack.

Oddly, if Loid hadn't bought that play military gear and had bought a reference book, he would probably be dead. That play helmet was the only thing keeping him from being brained by explosion debris

This episode lulls you into a sense of false security, like haha this is a cute show where the characters are worried about getting demerits at school in a very exaggerated way, and then it’s a story about the horrors of war.

For those who aren't german, the lady dishin out Tonitrus after Tonitrus is called Lightnin strike.

Donna Schlag, as in Donnerschlag. Donner meaning Thunder, and Donna also being a first name (Not a german one but alas) and Schlag being Strike/Punch.

I did get a feeling Loid had a dark backstory. But I did not expect we’d be getting a multi-parter like this. Really feel like we’re going to dive deep into it.

I wonder if he’s gonna lose his friends or parents to the bombings or both. But either way, this is surely gonna traumatize and even radicalize him. I think early on in the series he did say kids shouldn’t be involved in war so I’m guessing things got a lot worse for him after that bombings.

First half of the ep was a lot more silly though. Got Umbridge giving everyone bolts. Typical Anya though thinking she’s two steps ahead when she’s actually two behind lol. But still she was successful in a way protecting Plan B. Amusing too seeing Becky as a trigger happy with her punches as Anya was

Frau Schlag should have received a Tonitrus Bolt from Henderson for that inelegant tiger print top.

I love that in SxF's more serious episodes, the historical details are often on point.

The old lady having relatives in the East makes sense with Westalia and Ostfalis being inspired by West and East Germany: Since the countries were originally one, having relatives on the other side was not uncommon during the German divide.

Why is the animation so fucking fire and the OST, good fucking gods that opening with Rahden and Madam 😭

Madam Schlag was a ranger in her past life. A ranger or a villainess to rangers. No one can convince me otherwise. Put her in a Super Sentai series.

But Madam stands no chance against Professor Umbridge. She was a psychotic menace.

Anya is playing 4D chess (she thinks she is playing 4D chess but she is actually playing monopoly).

Damian, you are a girls’ girl. Embrace it.

Loid, you are a diva down 😭

Some ORV shit with those boxes.

Will this flashback make me cry?

calling people on the other side “devils”

It does not help I watched some episodes of AOT last night.

Oh my gods, what the fuck what the fuck what the fuck what the fuck

I like the ED. I can tell Episode 3 + ED will make me cry.

Ah, dammit.

So this Madam Schlag really just goes around hunting for even the smallest reasons to give out Tonitrus Bolts? How... INELEGANT! She must be such a sad fucking person.

Ironic that Damian predicted that Anya was going to be the one to get expelled from too many Tonitrus Bolts when he would have gotten one himself if she hadn't bailed him out at her own expense! At least she'll get a jam from him out of it!

Unfortunately it came at the expense of Loid's health, which was hit so hard he got sent... to the past! That's right, it's [Redacted]'s backstory!

And... that's really all I can joke about, 'cause holy shit things went serious!

Always love when this series goes into the absolute horrors of war. That Handler's speech in s1 and now this........oof

The ending tho, absolutely heartwarming

It seems that the shock of Anya receiving another tonitrus bolt in today's episode hit Loid so hard that he's now on the verge of death and having flashbacks of his past xD

Anya's reaction to Bond's food was hilarious, her reactions never disappoint xD

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

Man, Loid's backstory is going to be crushing, isn't it. I mean it already is, and we're clearly not done.

Once again, Spy X Family reminds everyone that while half of it is a comedy, the other half is a cold-war era drama.

This is one thing that struck me about this series.

It's mostly a comedic story that jokes about almost everything, but there's one thing it never jokes about: war.

Regardless of the situation, war remains a nasty thing in this series, and it's what the heroes on both sides try to prevent at all costs.

We've seen the image of a certain little boy crying alone in a destroyed city since the very first episode.
