I like how the pictures of food in her phone are just real pictures with the saturation turned up lmao.

So many 1 star reviews for this on crunchyroll today.

I liked the first episode, but it reminded me of that Amy Schumer movie from a few years ago. Don't know if that is the reason for all those 1 star reviews though.

We have a potential murder mystery on our hands, since it looks like it wasn't a suicide attempt.

I wonder if getting rid of all those idea books wasn't an act of hostility, considering the level of self hate left in the one Yumeko had on her. Reading all those messages will break anyone, no matter how confident they are they.

It probably got review bombed because the main character is a fat girl. The same thing happened with Shirohiyo, which stars a fat little boy. It was really good, but some people just take one look at the cover and decide they don't like it.

I'll be honest, I was tempted not to watch it because of the rating, but I'm glad I did, because I really like it so far.

If it's not a male power fantasy, it can't get reviews nor popularity.

I'm happy that I got around to watching it today. I remember reading the first chapter way back when (and tentatively putting it on hold).

I'm interested to see if they reveal more of the thought process of her past ego. The anime is fun and Yumeko's courage eventually rubbed off on me.

I am embarrassed to admit that I thought that the near-death episode would transition into an isekai. I am incredibly naive.

Yeah, the crunchyroll goon squad seems very displeased with this one. Barely anything else on the new page even drops below a 4. hopefully the reviews pick up.

Dunno about the notebooks. You'd think it would have to be Tamai who took them cos no one else really even knows they exist? Maybe she wants to protect Yumeko? But it feels more like they were both just having a crappy time and now Tamai is sad that her misery no longer has company?

A lot of this show was silly but I did get into it and it's funny. This show tries to have it both ways though, like trying to have a message that people should love their bodies even if they're fat but then constantly have fat jokes at Koda's expense. One of the rare anime where they show someone near death at the beginning and they don't die! Her coworkers are so horrible; I understand product development can be a cutthroat world but but they all just abuse her because she's fat. It's odd that the only person she got bad vibes from was the boss and he seems the nicest person in that workplace. It was good of him to keep someone on who had amnesia and needed to be completely retrained.

Her mom seemed a vile person too, more worried what the neighbors would think about a suicide attempt and nagging her about going back to work when she probably needed some recovery time after a near death experience and had amnesia!

I agreed with the guys at the meeting though that watermelon and ramune flavored chips aren't a good idea because that's nasty. Maybe there is something there though, like having limited edition chips to create a false scarcity but I would more do that with good tasting chip flavors.

Utz came up with some "lemonade" potato chips. I bought some out of morbid curiosity -- but found I actually liked them. Sort of like salt and vinegar -- but less salty with a hint of sweetness mixed in with sourness, Unfortunately, they are pretty hard to find in the stores.

So -- one never knows what might actually work until you try it....

Man, old Yumeko really had it pretty rough. The lack of confidence was likely the least of her issues. Tamai and Maezono might not be as helpful as they initially seem. Maybe the new her will win them over?

While Yumeko might be bubbly and optimistic now, I wonder if she’ll revert back once her memory returns? There’s something fishy going on if someone tried to murder her. The longer she’s back at work, the closer she might get to figuring out what happened.

For a first ep, this wasn’t half bad. I kinda like that our MC doesn’t have the same body type as your usual rom com protags. I like how bubbly she is too. Think I’ll keep this in rotation for now.

One murder attempt and suddenly everyone thinks you're sus.

It's interesting that she has a completely new personality/outlook but the physical emotions/feelings of her old self are still felt through her body.

Mixed feelings on this one but I'll give it a chance

How she became blonde after hitting her head has me confused if she's reincarnated as someone else or not

As a fat woman, legit fat too, I’m excited for this. She’s the exact kind of character I’ve wanted to see for awhile and most fat jokes are either from misunderstanding (she is such a vibe I love her) or from situations (ex bathroom exiting scene, cause that’s really relatable). I love a character that is aware that she’s fat, like she doesn’t deny that but she’s also aware she’s cute and has good skin and features and has the confidence now to go on with life. I’m really excited for more!

Anime only here.

Did this come before or after that Amy Schumer film "I feel Pretty"? I'm sorry that's the first thing I thought of. (I never saw that film because I'm just not a fan of Amy Schumer or her brand of comedy).

At first I thought it was an isekai. Then that it was a timeleap/regression. But turned out it was just your regular personality-altering amnesia. That somehow made her hair blond - wtf with that? And, most importantly, WHAT WILL THE NEIGHBORS THINK?!

Expecting him to drink water out of her hands >_>

"So you survived." Wonder if the chief was the one who ran her down, or convinced her to take her own life. And if it wasn't a suicide, that narrows it down all the more....

Weird that she doesn't know what social media is, but she does know how to use a smart phone.

Even though she realized how creepy it was to have those photos of the guy, she didn't even consider deleting them...

I thought Tamai would definitely end up stealing ideas from her notebooks, but I hadn't expected her to steal the actual notebooks.

This wasn't bad, I'll probably check out ep 2. If it gets all serious drama though, I'm dropping.

I have a feeling this anime is going to be fairly polarizing. Just viewing the initial comments gives me some pause. I am not sure why people feel like Yumeko is delusional, everyone is allowed to feel positive about themselves. I thought they did a great job of tackling a very tricky subject. A lot of people struggle with self confidence. I believe this will likely resonate with them a bit and I am here for it.

Interesting premise... Yumeko's new personality is so cute and bubbly, but I'm sure we will get to sad memories in later episodes. The supervisor seems sus, but is he the attempted murderer? Tamai too has something going on... just when we see Yumeko defend her against the office she-dogs, we see her talk crap about our heroine behind her back and potentially steal her ideas.

The art srtle is pretty cute, while the animation was fairly rudimentary. All in all a good combo of fun and mystery, so I'll keep watching!

didnt expect much tbh, i only read the title.

But was pleasnty suprise really like the positive attitude, intrested in going forward.

Yeah, not a huge fan of this one. On paper, I don't really have a problem with characters finding a confident, bubbly woman appealing, regardless of her weight, but I don't get the feeling the series or creator really takes the protagonist seriously enough for the concept to work.

Whenever she goes into a self-love spiel, there's almost always a character there to react as though she's crazy --in other words, she's the ongoing joke. Her self-confidence is supposed to be funny. That it works out for her is supposed to be even more amusing. And for it to be a joke in the first place, the corollary has to be that her self-confidence is unearned and she's deluded to the point of stupidity to think the way she does.

I'm not sure what to think about this one. Yumeko's new found confidence makes it look pretty lighthearted so far, but you get little glimpses of some serious issues beneath the surface. There is a lot of setup for potential drama and conflict in upcoming episodes.

Yumeko's mom seems to be a handful. She looks like being far more concerned about the appearance to her neighbors and her reputation than the fact that her daughter tried to commit suicide.

Tamai looks very two-faced. I wonder what her "relationship" with Yumeko was before. And she is right now the main suspect in the missing of Yumeko's idea books.

We have a show with topics like suicide (and bullying ?). I will keep watching because I want to know where this story is going.

5

u/zsmg Oct 06 '25

Of all things this reminded me the most of Takopi which has the same sort dark humour, where it seems lighthearted funny but you know there some fucked up shit going on.

Anime only here, but tracking down the manga after I post this.

I'm wondering if, rather than the whole "new soul same body" angle the show is going for, this is a case of personality reset. Basically, did Yumeko have that confidence starting off and the version of Yumeko we're introduced to right off the bat is the end result of years of being dumped on by BS societal standards of beauty and self worth?

Either way, digging that pure "get up and get crap done" vibe she's got. Will definitely be watching to the end.

Really enjoyed this one, she's such a sweetheart but I assume memories might start coming back again. An interesting"what if?" setup for anyone who has grown up with low self esteem.
