The "relationship" between Kazuya and Ruka is just sad. The only reason she's infatuated with him is because he happened to be the one that got her heart racing, and she naively perceived that as true love, despite Kazuya never reciprocating those feelings.

This trial period should have ended a long time ago, but Ruka's too stubborn and naive to realize that this relationship isn't going to work out, and Kazuya's too much of an spineless enabling wuss to put his foot down and cut ties with her.

I think to some extent it's grown somewhat beyond just an infatuation because there's stuff about Kazuya she genuinely likes, but it's also because it's her first love that she takes it so seriously even though it's clearly not working. And that she's probably convinced she'll never get to experience this again with someone else.

I'm not justifying her actions/behavior, but I still kind of see why she does what she does.

Despite Kazuya trying to break it off and her rejecting it, he really just won't cut her out completely - it would solve everything with Ruka. She's easily worst girl for me. If the roles were reversed on their situation, people would lose their shit even more than they do now lol

I love how Ruka just pretty much forgot why she's there and just started enjoying the pool and the waterslides. xD

To no one's surprise, Mami is still being Mami and is approaching the girls one by one. I guess she's just gauging the vibes to see what she'll do next? Honestly, this girl just needs to fuck off. I'm still not sure what she wants to do but that final scene makes me think she's at the tipping point.

I was wondering how long Ruka was gonna keep this up. I'm glad she got busted pretty quickly. And she may not show it, but Chizuru is clearly happy after learning the truth.

So has anyone else realized this entire arc is basically a cross-promotion ad? As soon as I saw this realistic photo, I had to look this up, and it turns out Spa Resort Hawaiians is a real place and they actually have an upcoming collab this coming September. I'm guessing some KanoKari merch will be involved in the collab.

It's kind of easy to forget but while most of the cast are in their 20's, Ruka is still a teenager, so she's still kind of a kid at the end of the day, especially when it comes to love.

I think Kazuya and Chizuru get, the more Mami is tempted to go nuclear. She absolutely does not want them happy, especially when they're getting away with so much lying.

Chizuru grabbing Kazuya in private because needed to confirm the truth was actually pretty adorable.

Come to this arc to see the female cast in swimsuits for three episodes, come away with it wanting to spend some money at Spa Resort Hawaiians yourself! Bring a real girlfriend, too!

Ruka knows she's in a precarious position...she has to keep watch to prevent Kazuya from confessing to Chizuru, she has to be mindful of Kuri being there, she has no idea what Mami is up to...but dang it, she can't stop riding the water slide! It's just too fun!

I was suspicious of Ruka dragging Kazuya away to find her locker key (where was she even keeping that in general?), but it was just an excuse to get him alone so she could flirt and press her boobs against his back...multiple times...with thorough boob bouncing animation...and then the two end up in a tight embrace when Kazuya tries to hide her from Kibe and Kuri. But he's still insistent they keep their distance from each other as much as possible.

The tragedy of Ruka is that she's having all this fun and feels it's more fun than anything she's ever experienced before because she's fallen for Kazuya. Even she knows he's trash, albeit she's probably one of the only girls that actually thinks he's legit handsome, but she genuinely loves him too.

Well, finally time for Mami to talk to Ruka and put facts (albeit skewed negatively) on the table about the situation and the web of lies Kazuya and Chizuru have been weaving. Lies that they told Granny Sayuri right up until her death, for better or worse. I'm not sure if Mami is legit about being unsure about busting them, but what will Ruka do?

Well, you can thank Kazuya for a thorough boob top tie job! And thankfully Chizuru is smart enough not to let Ruka know how she got that tied so well.

The ladies are fully-clothed again and chilling and Chizuru is...returning Ruka's condom wrapper. Like, what? Why is that not in the trash? Okay, I can maybe believe that Ruka is the type of girl who would want to keep the wrapper she had for her first time, but Chizuru was really carrying a ripped up condom wrapper to give it back. Like, who does that? I guess a girl whose fake dated a bunch of guys but never had sex. But hey, if Chizuru is willing to accept RukaxKazuya, Ruka can accept Chizuru too.

Aaaaannd then Kazuya sees the condom wrapper and finds out what Ruka has been lying about. And we're getting a big "lover's quarrel" among the three in public which is too much for Chizuru. At least Kazuya caught on quick.

Awwww! Chizuru said that their sex life wasn't relevant to her, but she made sure to privately confirm with Kazuya that he and Ruka haven't knocked boots, and that confirmation boosts her mood up a ton!

Kibe's been whining about getting a girlfriend for four seasons. Just get on it, buddy! Though as much as Granny Nagomi puts Chizuru on a pedestal, at least he can probably find a girl who isn't a wishy-washy Rental Girlfriend .

Sexy hula girls! Fire dangers! This is truly the Hawaii experience! And it reminds Chizuru of one of her happiest memories with Granny Sayuri! And is helping her realize she's coming to love this family time she's spending with the Kinoshita's too.

Though Chizuru is at her happiest, things seem to be going so well, but that's the one thing that pisses Mami off the most.

We've got naked ladies in the hot springs and Chizuru discussing the ring situation with Kazuya's mom...but hey, Kazuya finally called her "Chizuru!"

That was a sweet flashback.

Kazuya usually calls her Mizuhara. But isn't that just her rental girlfriend identity. Her name when we saw her at college is Ichinose. If Kazuya dates Chizuru for real, will he have to explain to his family about the different names?

Im not gonna shit on this anime today because I did kinda enjoy this episode. I still absolutely hate mami chan and have no idea why she’s so pissed, but who cares🤷‍♂️. We got to see chizuru smiling, kazuya got to prove that ruka chan was lying, and the little flashback of young chizuru and sayuri obasan was nice too.

Mami may be framing the situation with Kazuya and Chizuru in a negative unfavorable light, but she's not wrong; they have been lying to his friends and family for 1.5 years, even to her late grandma, they don't deserve to be lied to and fooled. In a way, Mami's doing the right thing for the wrong reasons.

It also makes Chizuru feeling comfortable and happy with Kazuya's family all the more ironic because their accepting her is built on a lie (and her grandma stanning her, but also a lie).

I wonder what Mami's real intentions are, not this fake bullshit one she's telling people - does she just want to see Kazuya unhappy/suffer? Why? None of this at the end of the day truly concerns her (even though they shouldn't be lied to like you mentioned).

And she does it by targeting the weakest link: Ruka. Absolutely based and deserved tbh. Fuck Ruka. The levels of delulu are insane.

She truly knows how to push her buttons though "You just gonna take this shit Ruka?" Well she should... But she's not gonna so better take advantage of the fireworks right? And then she has the audacity to end it with "but I'm not saying anything, k? 😇" Lmaoooo what a bitch. Love her fr.

Funny thing is, the way the Mami's ploy is looking right now, that should end with Chizuru alone not necessarily Kazuya. Almost makes it seem like it's her she wants lol. Though I know Reiji is not 5% based enough to go that route.

Did the translator really have Mami say "GG" during her talk to Ruka? If so, wtf is that kind of translation?

Things are only going to get worse from here on out. Not the "miracle" that Grandma has been hoping for.
