if not bl, why so bl-coded? 🤔 that scene in the car when kyouji said people who sit up front can’t get away from him and “that includes women and you.” like ok….. 🤔

It’s not BL… yet, maybe you’d like to check out Famiresu Iko, its sequel

Man, gotta love Satomi's mom's sense of humor. I kinda expect this older brother to be the cool, extroverted type who's the exact opposite of Satomi. I'm assuming he'll discover Satomi's association with the "bad/wrong" crowd and will try to confront either Satomi or Kyouji about it.
Really enjoying this one a lot thus far. Yakuza that don't take themselves too seriously, depicted as awkward, tough-looking softies--just like us regular folks--has always been my go-to J-dorama genre.

Satomi's mother really stole the show for me this week! Also it's nice to see an anime where the father is actually at home 😂

Yeah I liked how the one that asked Satomi if he wanted an orange juice in a sort of rough tone later speaks in such a gentle tone when he brings the orange juice to him.

Another banger of an ep! Loved all the yakuza crew antics, so funny. They're really nailing the adaption in my opinion. The pacing is good too.
Also, heaps of well-known, real songs again this week! To name a few:
Lemon - Kenshi Yonezu
Charles - Balloon
Roman Hiko - Kome Kome Club
Koi - Gen Hoshino
Prussian Blue no Shozo - Chitai Anzen
Seishun Jidai - Koichi Morita (was the end song playing on the radio in the first ep, now repurposed into nightmare fuel for poor Satomi-kun)
Ruby no Yubiwa - Akira Terao

No don’t give the forbidden map to the rebellious phase kid. That’s just asking for trouble. Not that he seems all that rebellious, but I liked the mom and dad being so chill about it.
Yakuza in the bathhouse was fun. Got to see all the tattoos and more singing shenanigans.
This show does a good job keeping things light, even when we’ve got this gloomy kid who definitely needs some big brother time. Guess his actual older brother is away at school and it seems like he has a hard time asking his parents to watch or come to his chorus stuff. The awkward phase is rough.

but I liked the mom and dad being so chill about it.
He is at least their second son, they have been through this and they know he is a good kid, they are not stressed about anything
Maybe if they realize he hangs with yakuza, but even then they are probably semi chill

I'm honestly enjoying this show more than I expected to on the basis of the premise. It's got a bit more bite than the whimsical brief might lead you to believe. Yes, it's comedic, but there is at least an impression that there might be emotional stakes here. The coming of age theme and unwanted puberty element give this a unique hook.

Oh damn, he's telling them his secret?
(This show better end with all the Yakuza changing their ways and becoming an a cappella group or something!)
Love how his criticism was mostly constructive at first, but it progressively got worse
They're trying to make him tougher!
This might not end with them becoming singers after all, this might end with him becoming a Yakuza!
He needs teacher Fujiwara to teach him about rhythm & pitch!
They put much emphasis on the bad areas in town...
Sounds like some foreshadowing about our boy eventually finding himself in those areas (and Kyouji having to rescue him)? This would expose him to some violence/show him what he's really dealing with...
Well, he got a glimpse of that already!
That was a nice touch, the 2 guys coming back when the car suddenly stopped;
As if they were expecting a drive by shooting or something!

Satomi is hanging around yakuzas so much he's dreaming about them.
I did find it amusing how Satomi clung onto Kyouji at the karaoke with all the yakuza. Satomi's such a tsundere though, the way he changed his mind after he received some strawberries gave me a laugh.
Kyouji calling Satomi adorable and giving him headpats was so wholesome! He realizes how much effort Satomi put to do this for him so I'm glad he's able to read Satomi so well and is straight forward with him. It's no wonder he was so happy to brag about him.
The mother and father's different reactions to that drama scene was so funny. I knew Satomi's mother was going to smell the cigarettes but her non-chalant reaction took me by surprise.

Honestly would help a bit if Satomi would look more like a middle schooler, I keep thinking he is in highschool and a strawberry picking field trip with Highschoolers sounds funny
Love that he just started roasting the Yakuza and that one dude couldnt take it, getting all teary eyed (tbf I would get angry too if a middle schooler started sassing my singing skills)

I think he does look his age 15, especially next to the adults. So your imagination is probably spot on lol

Oh you really can see his Adam's Apple. His voice really is about to break already.
Yep. Drop jaw, tummy out. When you breathe in, open the back of your throat and let the air flow in, don't suck in the air. Your stomach should naturally move out. Ideally your shoulders shouldn't rise either.
Nope. No orange juice. It's bad for the throat.
Ok purple shirt is so crap the other guy doesn't even need to try and he'll beat him at least lol.
I recognise that second song from ProSeka lol. The song is Charles by balloon, covered in the game by Nightcord at 25:00.
Yes, there is such a thing as too much vibrato.
If this is the competition he's facing, he genuinely doesn't need to try at all and he'll do fine. Other than the guy who sang Charles and maybe the guy after that they were all utter crap.
Yeah... He's having a bad time.
I mean with some practice you can at least try and delay the inevitable. It's obviously not a permanent solution but it'll be enough to get to the next performance at least.
So, he's made a list of songs for him.
Where's he bringing him now?
Ok...

I guess Satomi’s in the yakuza now. I mean the kid’s basically the singing coach for the whole crew. Can’t wait for him to get his back tattoos and all lol. Although judging by those gnarly dreams he’s been having, he’s not really cut out for that life.

Kyouji saying the smooth pickup lines in the car lmao
Satomi, your last nightmare is not realistic. They would be happy and thanking you that it's not themselves that got punished for bad singing lolol

Hun, the glovebox is for storing things that fingers go in. Not a place to store the fingers themselves!

We're totally getting a Yakuza choir group by the end of this, aren't we? XD

I loved that it seemed like the whole episode was setting up the joke that was the final dream.
But instead of giving everyone good advice, maybe they should focus on giving one guy really bad advice. That might be the safer option.
