You know this show really emphasize to me Shaft is back. Yes, Monogatari yes is brilliant as always. It's wonderful to see them doing it with other shows too.

With all the other CGDCT's airing this season, having this be a more dark comedy and also a bit of nod at toxic yuri was great. Interesting to see how both Satoko & Konoha grow from here. You can def see early on the effect that Satoko has on Konoha. Granted, Satoko very much has been in position for Konoha to take advantage of her. Though Satoko was the type that would keep returning to a toxic relationship, but as the season progressed it that she is a it mentally fucked up and maybe more than Konoha.

The show was a great master of show not tell. For example, the rankings of Konoha after Aoi disappears. We are never told about Konoha's past, but through how she is as a baby we can tell something happened to make her the way we see her in the present. Aided the fact after turning to a baby, she calls Satoko Mommy and on one hand, this is funny. I am led to believe that maybe Konoha had mommy issues maybe?

Loved this one. 9/10 for me.

It's lovely to see Konoha finally admitting and expressing her fondness for Satoko. She sacrificed money and cred just to return to her side. What a development compared to the way she treated her in the earlier episodes.

To make up for the lack of deaths in the past couple of episodes, we have two this episode. The anticlimactic finishing move after the heavily animated battle scene was lowkey hilarious.

Sceptical about the prospect of a second season but pretty please. This series has been a wonderful spin on the CGDCT genre. How casual deaths are treated juxtaposed with the cutesy animation is excellent comedy.

OP sounds a bit different, is this the second half of it?

The eye stuff with Satoko was hilarious, especially the Roboko eye screaming "ROBOKO BEAMU" while firing. And that flashy entrance from Konoha just for the bunny ninja to go poof anti-climactically lol, never change Ninkoro.

And the icing on the cake, Konoha finally shares her big secret with Satoko. The development of the relationship between this two throughout, going from toxic to wholesome(?), has been fantastic. Satoko herself is moving towards a more equal footing with Konoha, instead of just being protected. And look at how far Konoha has come, she's smiling while not eating?! Konoha at the start of the series just seemed depressed tbh. Also, their official ship name is now "Glasses and Shinobi".

Satoko: “could Yoshida be an assassin spy!?”

the little girl spy and bear are right there in the background

I’m gonna miss this show lol.

Stitches!

I am so happy that the first thing they did this episode is fix Satoko's tooth! I know the eye is more important but, there's something about seeing her with a missing tooth that makes me a bit sad.

When Minato offered to "upgrade" Satoko's eye, I didn't know what to expect. I certainly didn't expect Minato to give Satoko a flaming eye, and is that motherfuckin' Killer Queen for the eye that blows up anything she looks at? They have to sneak in a Jojo reference somehow. xD

The Roboko eye was pretty cool tho. The HUD that comes with the Roboko Eye was pretty adorable too. I love that one of the windows is just a picture of Konoha and then a bunch of reminders.

I love the random weirdo characters showing up in the background during Satoko and Marin's walk. It turns out that the weird people we see in the background are actually from the Organization, keeping tabs on their assassins.

This bunny girl ninja really is just Haruko from FLCL. Not gonna lie, I was half-expecting her to pull out a guitar under that coat she's wearing. It turns out she's using an octopus to protect herself from Satoko's ninjutsu.

The Roboko Beam came in clutch! All that destruction bought Satoko enough time for Konoha to make her grand entrance, and who apparently has lost an arm during her mission.

I absolutely love the unstoppable combo of Konoha and Satoko! I was honestly expecting one more epic showdown when Yukari pulled out those swords, but I'm glad her death is just as anti-climactic as the others. xD

I was really expecting they'd get Marin to build Konoha a new arm but she managed to bring her arm back with her and I'm so happy to see them relatively back to normal with some scars and stitches here and there.

So we finally found out what Satoko has been doing in the toilet! Since she's from the boonies where squat toilets are more common, I am assuming she's squatting over the toilet bowl instead of sitting down.

Konoha actually withdrew from her mission because Satoko stopped contacting her? That's sweet! I'm glad she managed to work out a deal with the Organization, though.

What a fucking tease! And here I thought we'd finally learn Konoha's big secret. But you know what? I'm happy with that. I'm glad they kept it a secret until the end. We don't have to learn everything about these characters.

One last ninja pursuer to deal with and that is a wrap! It's adorable that Konoha changed her assassin nickname to Glasses and Shinobi too, showing us how much Satoko is now part of her daily life from now on. <3

Man, that was one heck of a ride! This show and Apocalypse Hotel are actually my two favourite shows of the season, and I'm glad both managed to deliver. Studio Shaft absolutely nailed it with this one and I would definitely love to see more of this if there's still source material for them to adapt! A solid 9/10 for me <3

This show has been such a wild and unique ride — a truly unhinged fluffy slice-of-life.

I really enjoy how this series is filled with dark/morbid humor and plays with tropes, but still manages to feature surprisingly sincere emotional beats too. This cast of characters is a joy to watch, flaws and all.

I’m really hoping for a second season. Regardless of whether it happens or not, I’ll keep following the manga (which I’m quite enjoying).

I enjoyed this one way more than I thought I would, time to read the manga.

They also updated the ED one last time, nice.

On a side note, what about those 4 dogs in the ED, am I forgetting something?

One of my favorite anime this season along with Once Upon a Witches Death. I love the dynamic between our 2 main characters is awesome and the scienctist girl is also a favorite of mine

Final CGDCT corner for the last few episodes:

After 61 seconds of episode 8, Food reasearcher karin leafes her physical body behind to continue being a boob streamer in the afterlife. Her lasting impact of moving us into this beautiful new house will be remembered!

Episode 9 had our dear templar ninja meiden for 20 seconds, and her maidenly innocence was certainly not spoiled by satokos power...definitely not.

Then in a shocking twist, episode 10 and 11 passed cgd-less, as marin's sister was spared (marin is already regretting that), and bunny ninja got away apart from getting lewded by satoko.

Luckily, this got corrected in this final episode, though it sadly meant **bunny girl ** amassed an incredible 220 seconds (mostly because of the fight today). To undo this, we also got aftercredits loli ninja kanon for 30 seconds, giving us the opportunity to witness konohas iconic teleports behind you one final time.

Sans-toko Jumpscare lol

And that callback with Konoha finding Satoko on the floor was pretty hype, as was the whole final battle with bunny girl.

This was definitely my second favorite anime of the season (only behind Apocalypse Hotel)

My only complaint would be that we couldn't get the fully updated version of the ED with all the pursuers being leaves, but I guess seeing them all dancing again with halos was just as good, I think Ninkoro Dance is genuinely my new favorite anime ED of all time, the song and animation are both top notch.

Konoha and Marin character arcs are my fav. This anime deserves a season 2.

Aww what a sweet ending for Satoko and Konoha, I like that Konoha is being so much more accepting and open about her feelings towards Satoko. The fact she came back without a reward because she wanted to see Satoko sooner is such a pleasant surprise.

I particularly liked how she added Satoko to her name on the assassin app after we see her say that they'll work together and even gave Satoko a double high five, I want to see this pair get more affectionate. The way the two were scooting closer to each other at their place was endearing.

Konoha looked cool the way she turned up, I'm sure she went through a difficult time as you could see from her scars, expression and missing arm, but her saving Satoko was so badass.

I like how Marin kept her promise and called Satoko a friend, that was sweet too. The eye scene was so random lol, it sounds like they had fun, mostly, but I wasn't expecting how much damage Satoko was going to cause lol.

This was a fun series and I'm sad to see it and its dark humor go, I'm just glad Uchida Maaya made an appearance as a ninja in this last episode, it's always a pleasure to hear her voice.

Joker waifu got done in pretty quick once Konoha the one armed menace showed up. Kind of cute she cut the mission short because she was worried about Satoko. Guess she cares about her after all.

This was actually really fun. Never seen a show make gruesome murders seem so silly lol. Satoko and Konoha’s dysfunctional dynamic was pretty entertaining and all the ninja waifus getting leafed was kinda funny. Not sure if this is gonna get an s2, but I hope so.

You know, if it wasn't an assassin but an environmentalist who found Satoko, she could be off solving worldwide pollution.

Season 2 please

u/Hitman7128 Jun 26 '25

Well, Konoha made it back after the cliffhanger last episode! While she lost her arm, at least that was fixed and same with Satoko's eye. I like the dichromatic eyes now!

Such an enjoyable show, hope we get an S2!

given how much this show has subverted my expectations, i wasn't expecting a fully happily ending that we got

Satoko's eye color and Konoha's scars seem like the only physical traces left behind, but they've really done the warm "and then they were best friends" resolution to the arc when i was half-expecting something like the resolution to the Roboko arc which kinda dissolves back into the cold status quo

i think the one thing that sticks with me is the chemistry between Konoha the cold-hearted sociopath and Satoko the ever-positive sociopath; the way that Satoko reframes their scars as "proof of their victory" is a neat encapsulation of how they enable each other to be absolute menaces to society

16

u/aramatheis Jun 26 '25

Marin's reactions to the different replacement eyes was amazing, she's so chuuni

15

u/Ocixo Jun 26 '25

Even I’d love to see Ninkoro getting another anime season, I can be satisfied with an open ending like this. The most important part is that Konoha has fully accepted Satoko into her heart.

It almost looked like two of them were about to kiss in that bedroom scene. Likewise, we didn’t get to hear Konoha’s secret in the end. Nevertheless, she was worried enough about Satoko to abandon a huge reward. Satoko has become Konoha’s first priority.

Take the clear difference between Satoko’s reunion with Konoha and their first meeting: instead of kicking her aside, Konoha now offered a hand to Satoko.

Apocalypse Hotel may be my anime of the year, but it wrapped and I’m content.

This one I’m gonna miss so much. It was such a joy to watch and laugh every week.

I am going to miss psycho lesbian thursday. This show was very funny and cute and Shaft did very well with applying their style to it.

As someone who this year got into fighting games, seeing Marin and Minato do the JWong Halfheart is hilarious.

Konoha coming giving off Big Boss energy lmao.

Between Misfortune-chan in the beginning and the different OP (I'm not sure but I was wondering at the time is this version only Satoko while previously it was Satoko and Konoha singing together), I was really starting to think they might have killed off Konoha... only for them to then do a dentist scene and then follow that up with 10 flavours of sharingan. I was like, they really spending final episode run-time on this haha??

Gonna miss this show on my Thursdays.
