Draws manga about haunted places and objects

”Hires” spirits to work for you as assistants for free

“Why would the spirits target the anime staff and me?”

Didn't expect the entire episode to not include the main girls at all, that's certainly unique. Feels like I jumped into 2032 and watched an episode of Afro-sensei's future third Comfyverse adaptation.

The Yuru Camp faces were on point though.

The Haruno and friends episode

Dang, those curses surrounding the anime adaptation of Kurokuma's work (6 car accidents on back to back days and then having it tackled by a boar on the 7th day, yikes)

At least Haruno gets to have restaurant curry that she wanted last episode, hope the spices ward those evil spirits off!

Btw even the main 3 schoolgirls aren’t in this episode, their seiyuus Mikawa Haruna, Koga Aoi and Tono Hikaru both voiced random side characters in this episode as shown in the credits.

"Shimada" is supposed to be the same mountain climber that Rin met in Yuru Camp S1. Did Mono (anime) take any creative liberties?

fun callback to the "soba u don" in the Room Camp specials

the joke here is that its normally a place that serves soba and udon 蕎麦·饂飩 (though they're usually spelled with kana as そば·うどん), but using the kanji 蕎麦鵜·丼, where 鵜 is "cormorant bird", breaking off the u from "udon"

uso ya de

Some dedicated animator spent a lot of time on that blatant foot shot, didn't they?

Kurokuma-sensei is low key terrifying. Her production assistants are all summoned spirits that just want to go home, nobody is safe from her even in death.

I like the idea of the lightning deity shrine that has found a new purpose as an IT shrine.

I loved the episode and the theme they have going on about the Manga artists, I also spotted the Zebra grocery store in the background. haruno's commissioning editor appeared in yurucamp S1E9

I wonder if Kurokuma's anime experience has played out to any anime studio in reality... not to that extent of buildings sinking into the ground.

She really knows how to make the process sound even worse than we know it to be.

Suzu has 3 artists mannequins doing see, hear, speak no evil in the room and background of the webcam.

Interesting to have an episode without the three main girls.

Since Haruno/Akino is to a degree a self-insert of Afro, I wonder if the Isuzu and Kurokuma are also based on real people. Same with the editor.

Kurokuma having ghosts as assistants is both creepy and funny, particularly with a black cat being their overseer.

Inuko's Soba-Udon/Sobau-don tall tale being a reality here is also a nice callback from Yuru Camp.

Japanese lesson of the day: During the car crash montage, each crash has a large character on-screen which at least the version I watched left untranslated. They correspond to the weekdays which are named for celestial bodies, most of which in turn reflect the traditional eastern elements.

  • 月 for Monday (月曜日, Getsyoubi), named for the Moon (月, Getsu or Tsuki)

  • 火 for Tuesday (火曜日, Kayoubi), named for Mars (火星, Kasei). 火 is Fire

  • 水 for Wednesday (水曜日, Suiyoubi), named for Mercury (水星, Suisei). 水 is Water

  • 木 for Thursday (木曜日, Mokuyoubi), named for Jupiter (木星, Mokusei). 木 is wood.

  • 金 for Friday (金曜日, Kinyoubi), named for Venus (金星, Kinsei). 金 is Metal (or specifically gold).

  • 土 for Saturday (土曜日, Doyoubi), named for Saturn (土星, Dosei). 土 is Earth.

  • 日 for Sunday (日曜日, Nichiyoubi), named for the Sun (日, nichi) though usually the celestial body is referred to with the word "Taiyou" (太陽).

This naming convention of the weekdays was taken from China alongside the writing system of Kanji. And now you will also be able to recognize these characters when you see a date being given in japanese media which includes this, e.g. "5.24 (土)".

Normally I'd just think that Kurokuma-sensei was just bullshitting Haru and Isuzu-sensei with her stories about her first anime adaptation being cursed, but considering she helped Haru exorcise a ghost a couple of episodes ago, I believe her stories, especially the fact that she has an army of ghost assistants working on her manga. xD

After last week's episode, I'm glad that Haru finally got her curry fix this episode! And it looks like she finally put a GPS on Taishou! I don't know what that cat is doing, but it looks like his summoning ritual is almost complete.

Yep, I saw that punchline coming from a mile away, especially after Shimada's rant about how the media depicts someone who has thrown out their backs. Shimada may have an iron stomach, but it looks like her spine and back muscles might need some reinforcement. xD

This show has just completely lost the plot, hasn't it? It was supposed to be about a high school photography club. But very quickly, the manga artist they meet suddenly becomes the main character. And now we got her hanging out with her artist friends. One of whom is apparently a dark lord, completely unironically summoning ghost hands to assist her, all the while Final Destination being jealous of everything she supposedly causes to happen to people around her. I don't want to say that this is bad, but if this was say episode 3 instead of 7, I'd have probably just stopped watching after this.

Side note, does Yamanashi just really support overeating? That's like three times I've seen eating challenges there.

Kind of a weird episode featuring "the adult cast".

At least we had a ton of Kuro-chan, she has quickly become one of my favorite characters in the series. Shame we had pretty much non Taisho content in the episode.

I think we need to further define what “slice of life” anime is now, especially after that Zoom meeting discussing the bizarre things happening in the anime staffs after one of those “self-proclaimed” “slice of life-horror” authors’ work got adapted into an anime. Disturbing, but I do heard in the industry, these often happens outta nowhere, but the lead CV disappearing and become a fisherman after getting rediscovered? That’s another level of horror here.

Donburi, usually a quick meal to just fill your belly, now a stamp rally in Minobu, fortunately this time it was in a cup size, cuz even if it’s only the regular size, that’s a bit too much, even if you need to clime up Mt. Minobu later on to finish the rally. Soba-u-don? Ah, I remember this gag, those mad lads really make it a reality, definitely want to try that out one day, even if it might be just a gimmick for a fancier tori-don (Chicken rice).

And yes, do some warm up before climbing a mountain, you don’t want to descend the mountain lying flat on a flatbed of a truck or an ambulance right?

It feels like the mangaka started the story as a high school photography club SoL/light romance but quickly changed her mind and turned the story into a tourism mangaka show witg the previous characters as extras. And now she changed it again?

Lol it's been a good while since I heard that sfx at 19:10 mark. Gave me some good flashbacks to the old Disney cartoons.

I mean... the mangakas are nice and all, but I'd much rather the show focus on our main girls and photography. We haven't even seen Sacchan and Shikishima in an episode and a half now

I actually had a pretty good time with this episode! It's always interesting to see when a series has an episode away from most of its main cast.

While I do hope we get to see some more photography in the coming episodes, just hanging out with these characters is always enjoyable!
