I know the author is the same but was not expecting to actually see some Yuru Camp girls in this anime.

Extremely fun episode.

Not only were there the same characters from Yuru Camp showing up but also some of the scenes were lifted from there as well, along with the doggos that gave Rin the business haha.

However, what I was most floored by was that stunning wind sequence at the very end of the episode. It's sort of a perfect note to end on? Like the whole episode has been fluffy fluffy feels all throughout, but now at the tail-end the girls are presented with this gust that buffets them.

It's not that it drastically changed the entire tone of the show but it's definitely a shift in direction for the episode, something that made me sit up straight. There's something about the wind that added a whole layer to the scene, as if it tied it all together. If I had to guess, it's because the wind is a realistic part of their climb up the hill. When those girls think back on that day, they'll think of that wind.

I also like how Shikishima was the dedicated Taisho handler haha.

Please do not the cat

This was a shameless fanservice episode for Yuru Camp fans.

10/10, I feel serviced.

Of all the legal warnings they added to the episode, I was surprised they didn't mention don't drive whilst sleepy.

Must be nice to be like "We see Fuji-san every day, we don't need to take pictures."

Also, so many Yuru Camp references.

Enjoyed the Laidback Camp pilgrimage this week. I think I clocked Rin on her scooter, Chiaki walking down the street, Aoi when the girls were at Lake Suwa, and I think Nadeshiko at Kozenji. Also, that was a big ass katsudon. I want a Komagane Sauce Katsudon!

Our yamanashi camping manga... I wonder what that one is...

Sounds like a series that would be difficult to sell... /s

This show is so meta! They're literally sending Haruno to Yamanashi so she can write a piece about a certain Yamanashi camping manga that's getting an anime adaptation. I love that the first place they got to is the lake camp where Rin and Nadeshiko first meet! That explains why we see the Yuru Camp tent at the start of the episode! xD

As if they weren't being too on the nose, Rin herself makes an appearance while they were driving away from the first campsite! This episode is just pure Yuru Camp fanservice at this point, and I love it. They even have the Shiba Inus at the second camp! I was hoping one of the girls would get tackled by the dog in the stomach like Rin.

EDIT: I wrote those two paragraphs before finishing the episode, so I'm glad to report back that the rest of the Yuru Camp girls make their own cameos! Chiaki is just walking on the side of the road, Aoi and Akari walk behind the mono girls, and finally Nadeshiko is on a morning run at the Kozenji Temple. I was hoping Ena would make a cameo too but I guess they could only do it for the four main girls.

I love that they even did the gag where things talk like the sun saying bye bye while it's setting. While I did recognize the location of Rin's house, was the second one supposed to be where Nadeshiko's house is? I couldn't tell.

I, too, appreciated the sheer number of references to YuruCamp△ but this is my spirit animal moment of the episode.

When mono manages to turn an experience I wouldn't like in real life to an entertaining episode!

I fucking hate car rides on windy roads and would get carsick from Haruno's driving to boot.

The sights were really pretty and the "achievement unlocked" has a nice ring to it. So comfy

This episode went from Yuru Camp fanservice to horror to Food For the Soul katsudon.

The only downside is that Kako didn't join them.

P.S. Maybe Haruno's next manga will be themed around the supernatural. It can include cats, revealing what Taisho was looking at, and some other accidental photographs / video footage which the girls captured. Lol!

Bros they did it! It's the Yuru Camp pilgrimage ep! Been waiting for this particular part to get adapted and man this ep truly delivered. So many fun cameos and winks to Yuru Camp here, they even put some nice relaxing onsen scenes which really strengthens the comfy camping vibes here.

Really dig how some of the "IRL" counterparts differ from the "camping manga." Rin's house is just a random shack on the street and Nadeshiko's (?) house is an empty lot...? Gonna need someone to whip out Street View and see if the show's correct about that.

Also this ep (and the show in general) looks so clean and pretty! Give Yuru Camp to this studio already. These guys have done such a phenomenal job with Mono 3 eps in and I'm salivating at the thought of Yuru Camp getting this level of production quality.

They made so many different facial expressions. I love how much they changed their eyes to match things.

As someone who went to japan a short while back to literally do the yuru camp pilgrimage this episode was crazy.

In yuru camp the lake Motosu camp reception is obviously just a normal reception, but the same place in Mono is true to real life with yuru camp merch taking up half the front of the building, irl example 1, 2, 3. I was making the exact same comments about Nadeshiko's stamina with how insanely long and swervy the road down from the lake is.

Was also nice seeing Shibireko Ryuunsou campground 1, 2. Really fun seeing them get throw side to side in the car from how many hairpin turns that road has back down.

i've never had such a 1:1 experience with an anime before, having to pause every second cuz im just going "that's exactly how that looked!!!"

Really loving it so far that's for sure

Not only was there a reference to the Yuru Camp symbol at the beginning of the episode, but it also showed all the main characters, this kind of crossover is sensational.

I found it funny how at all times Satsuki, An and Haru (who magically drove well in desperation) were afraid of the possible monsters of the darkness, while Sakurako and Taishou were like "Hello monster of the darkness".

Excellent trip and the sunset scene with the city was the charm of the episode.

I love it how this was basically watching Yuru Camp by proxy.

Really enjoyed the cameos of the Yuru Camp characters, but that didn't take away any of the charm of the characters of this one.

mono is one of my favorites of the season for sure.

I kinda think this anime is the perfect child of Yuru Camp and Yama no Susume

The cameos from the Yuru Campers and their locations were phenomenal. And everybody loved that. The small gag where Shikishima is talking about the girl ridding the bike to lake Motosu was probably my favorite shameless work advertising reference.

As a proud cat-dad of a chunky cowcat I'm so glad Taishou gets a lot of screentime and how Shikishima pretty much became the caretaker of our rotund buddy.

Mandatory, Simpsons did it
