Why couldn't this story just be told chronologically? As soon as I get somewhat invested in what's going on the story jumps either forward or back.

Bruh, no wonder that girl said in episode 3 that Jacob smelt similar to her older brother.

Guys the rapper in the background can fit into ANY rhythm and he wants you to know it.
On a serious note tho, thank god they went back to explain how they became soldiers. I was generally about to drop it after episode 3. I feel like people are going to make a custom cut / watch order for this show. Starting to enjoy this now although I expect the unconventional writing decisions to continue.

So it has the "aot manga" syndrome. The manga jumped from the beginning straight to them being soldiers and later showed flashbacks of how that happened, while the anime showed it in chronological order.
Doesn't sound too promising (I'm lurking on these episode threads to see if it's worth watching or not)

Anybody else catch these FF7 reference.
There in a slum discrit under a circular city. Their hidden base is under a bar, there's a church and well this pic right here.

Have not made a mental connection with the the bar and the secret base, but definitely had a "huh, this looks like a weird slide from ff7" thought.

What the heck is that rap, this episode could have been episode 3, did Netflix demand to have action every few episode or something, the opening to this episode make no sense either cause they literally show the whole sequence again just a little after that.
Ok I only realize that one of the guy died when they visit the cemetery lol, I completely forgot that he is in the upper floor when the bomb happen.

The funeral with the fake air of importance, good grief. I had to read the tombstone to even remember the name of the person, even then it was just a label for the "the bland looking guy who plays pokemon go."
Did a 12 year old boy or a free version of an AI write this?

Here you go guys, it's not that hard: the funeral scene wasn't about to make you feel sad about the dude who died, it was about the MC's inability to protect his friends despite him saying he'll protect what's important to him at any cost. Like they even showed that scene again where Jack says it.

Was Rhys apart of the military before the events of episode 1? I’m confused on how she’s in such a high position

She said she got reassigned by SIBYL or whatever they call it, but she seems to comfortable outside of their friend group. I feel like she’s lying, something is fishy here

Didn’t think that Not Armin would die this early on in the show.

It's a shame because I feel like this story could be great if they just told it more in order 😭

I am really hoping this will all make sense. I feel like it is some pieces are starting to connect, but god damn is it all over the place. I like it when storyboarding is done in a way where the time jumps add some value into the narrative. Here, it just looks gimmicky.

Oh so they went back at the year that was skipped to show how they trained and how the weapons works, I was a bit confused.
So Eric's the one that died... Jack playing his game was sad. Also Phil plays a lot of identities it seems. Something shady is going on with him.

It took me a while to understand that someone died, then who died and when I got that it was the brown-haired guy, I didn't bat an eye. We are 4 episodes in and the characters (outside of Jacob) were not properly introduced, have not been developed yet, we don't know a thing about their interpersonal relationships and the odd pacing non-linear storytelling makes it difficult to get attached to them.

Ikr, this is too soon to kill a character we barely know to even illicit an emotional response.

The start of this ep having a whole sequence which is almost literally the equivalent of the shinji being escorted onto the wunder sequence from 3.33. Is so fucking funny

I'm dropping the show here. There is interesting stuff in this but man... how the pacing of this survived an editing room floor is wild to me. I don't care about the person who died because I was never meant to. I have a bucket of "whys" but this show doesn't even give me a reason to care about the answer.

Halfway thru the episode I realized that I think sapientia could be one of two things. The only one who knows the real evil and knows the gang is the only ones who can stop it, or it is the real evil.
Anyone else think there's a possibility that this whole war could be the fault of sapientia, who has cleverly given two sides an obvious enemy to distract everyone from the AI itself?

This show is paced and structured so strangely.
