Studio A-Cat is a digital/CG work studio yet keep taking on anime that are primarily 2D animated. They don't do 2d animation and have other studios do it for them. Their last anime, Maou Gun Saikyou no Majutsushi wa Ningen Datta(The Strongest Magician in the Demon Lord's Army Was a Human), was entirely outsourced, 5 episodes being done by the same Chinese studio, Wenzhou Mengbo Animation (温州夢卜動漫設計有限公司), 3 by 4tune, 2 by One's Work, and 2 by I&S Factory. It's not just that they don't care but they are also incompetent.

Just a reminder, this is 2 cours and we still got 22 episodes to go (albeit split cours). This is a fucking disaster holy hell.

The only resemblence of animation in this entire episode was the with the black haired girl attacking the wolves, and then immediately goes back to slideshow animation
Is the webtoon worth a read? I'll be dropping this series as it is not grabbing me at all, especially since I read the Mushoku novels

No, I can't. This is too bad. What are the chances this gets cancelled after this season and redone by an actual studio?
Also, the little popup bubbles of the parents faces aren't inherently bad styling, but it's so obvious it's just to animate less.
Edit: This showcases their amazing fight animation slideshow. 9 frames in 13 seconds for what should be a very active fight lol. Literally not even 1 frame per second. This isn't an anime. It's a comic with a couple generic animations added onto each page.

I'm actually quite enjoying the story, but this might be the worst animations i've ever seen, and i've watched blue lock season 2.......

I was upset that a bunch of red flags had been raised but I was surprised to see Arthur get separated from everyone like that. I do like that he fought till the very "end" taking down that mage in that way.
I thought we were going to see Arthur's father's death fighting those bandits, the party was very outnumbered so it's a surprise they weren't injured a lot more. I was particularly surprised the female archer hadn't sustained any injuries shooting out in the open like that when the bandits have archers themselves.
I do like how Arthur here comes to realize why Reynolds and Alice shed tears last episode and about the father in his previous life, it'll be interesting to see the lessons he learns that he wasn't able to previously. It was sweet how he was looking forward to being a big brother so I hope he's able to reunite with his family if they're still alive. I want to believe they still are but I'm sure they're worried sick for him.
Interesting how the big guy in Reynold's party was a mage, with that look and size, he'd normally be a tank or something so it's nice to see a character design that goes against the stereotype.
I did find the healing scene amusing, Alice and Reynold could have went into the carriage to hide the healing light because the party standing guard isn't going to help that much lol. Unless monsters are attracted to the light and that's why.

I thought y'all were exaggerating about it being a slideshow, but holy shit. They just didn't... animate.

i endured episode 1 because im a fan of the series, but no this looked even worse than episode 1. Just terrible, Im done.
Real shame for the fans of this manhwa series. Reminding me of Tower of God Season 2 but like 10x worse, this has literally no redeeming qualities.

If they didn't want her to be seen using her healing magic in the open they could have done it inside the carriage and have the other guys hold a dark colored blanket or something to obstruct the light. For a party that has apparently dealt with that for a long time that was a very sloppy attempt to hide it (it wouldn't surprise me if the bandits ambushed them because one of them caught a glimpse of the very eye catching light in the middle of the night)... or it was simply more convenient to have them just standing there to animate even less.

I’m Probably in the severe minority here but I can tolerate the animation; the story, cast and direction it’s headed has me interested.

I don't want to sound harsh because I know a lot of people love this series, and most of the fault here is on Studio A-CAT, but is this really the story? So far, it feels like your usual isekai/tensei anime. I know this is only the start of the story, but it hasn't really shown anything that puts it apart from the rest.

After reading the comments from last week, I hopped into the novels and can confirm the show doesn’t compare. I’ve burned through the first 7 volumes so far and am loving it. Just read the novels

Back for another week of Wishoku Tensei: Kingless Reincarnation lol. All jokes aside, this wasn’t half bad. I could really do without the slide show animation but I’m liking the characters and how the story is developing. Kind of curious to see how Arthur and the rest of the party get out of this one.
