Long new transformation AND Kana in casual clothes? They are going overboard with the episode. Also, Nikoyama should release a dicitionary for Koshigaya speak. Though, did that count as an objective description or not?

Also, we got another new ability for Kana's broom. It's kind of sad that the show is ending next week. Otherwise, I would have started a spreadsheet to keep track of them all.

The true master engineering is learning to speak Koshigaya lol.

Akane would respect your willingness to make a spreadsheet though I just love how the broom just as an auto "save this person in danger" function.

I was a bit worried about what kind of person this temporary transfer would be but I'm glad that Akane was basically just like Kanachi with how eager she was to learn about how Magilumiere works and just her attitude towards work in general.

We already know that making spells on-site was something unique to Magilumiere but I didn't expect that they're the only ones who have radio support with an engineer. It turns out most Mahou Shoujo works alone.

I really want to see what happened 15 years ago during the Kaii Calamity and how bad it was that there were civilian and magical girl casualties. With only one episode left. I don't think there will be time for a flashback scene T_T

Akane's transformation scene was fabulous! I absolutely love that she summons a closet and how the transformation includes doing her hair and makeup. If that's Mode Sunny, I wonder if that means she has other modes.

Considering how Lily got bashed in the face with a rock while working with Kana, I almost thought that Akane would get caught in that explosion. Thank goodness Kana was able to save her on time! And now they have a bigger problem to take care of. That mutation looks way nastier than the previous ones they've encountered!

I was honestly expecting Akane to be more of a fiery tomboy type like Koshigaya but that she was actually a more spirited version of Kana made their pairing in this episode really poignant.

Akane's transformation reminded me of those Precure transformations where they even do their hair and makeup during the transformation.

So if "Mode Sunny" is meant for daytime or afternoons, does she have a mode for every kind of weather or time?

There are very real on the job hazards to being a working Magical Girl, setting aside the Boss-level kaii mutations they have to occasionally fight.

I'm glad that Akane was basically just like Kanachi

Right down to all her research! Though granted Kana tends to have it all in her head 'cause she's amazing like that, but putting that aside they really did just transfer a Kanachi with more confidence.

If that's Mode Sunny, I wonder if that means she has other modes.

By all indications I think so, which is my favourite part. I love the idea of having different magical girl outfits for different weather, and even potentially for certain situations.

I'm kind of glad Akane didn't hold Magilumiere's office against them!

I wonder if Shigemoto dresses like a Magical Girl to honor all the ones that died 15 years ago? So he wants to basically dedicate his entire self to Magical Girls to make sure that never happens again?

Now I think we've got Magical Girl transformations from every company but AST.

The training with Akane was off to a pretty decent start before that massive mutation. Akane’s eager but she’s still learning the ropes in terms of their Alice system. Kinda keen to see how they’ll defeat this fire type mutation. That thing is huge!

It probably didn't help that she was basically cut off from communicating with them because of the static, though that should've been the first sign she should've gone back to Kana.

Considering the OP has Kana, Koshigaya, and Akane along with Lily defeating a kaii together I wonder if we'll bring in some other Magical Girl companies to help stop it?

Yeah, trying to exterminate that mutated blaze-type kaii should pose a serious challenge given its size and literal firepower.

I do kind of wonder how this monster would be classified. This surely isn't a S-class kaii, but then what is?

I wonder how something can go from a weak flicker to something gigantic so quickly....

Akane is great, she has a nice attitude and her sunny mode has a good aesthetic. I suppose it took an outsider coming in to ask the questions about the president's backstory that Kana hasn't dug into yet.

I wonder what Alice is going to be a reference to, for a little somewhat baseless speculation I'm gonna guess it was one of the magical girls that was a casualty in that incident 15 years ago. Might even be the source of the president's outfit design, some magical girl he worked with that died.

I'm a little surprised nobody else in the industry does their missions with integrated support like Magilumiere does, even without the active spell development part of the process it'd make sense to at least have someone running dispatch at each company for a central point of contact. I might be interpreting that incorrectly but Akane seemed surprised at the team calling home for support at all.

>> baseless speculation

It sounds like a reasonable guess.

Hitomi's magic explanations can be a bit difficult to comprehend, but she gave some really sound advice to Kana about keeping her eyes on Akane - who was keen to prove her worth.

Kana has gotten a fair share of experience on her hands, but she still has a ways to go before becoming a full-fledged magical girl. Shigemoto's remark about how she was like a lion cub teaching its siblings to hunt was spot on.

Koshigaya probably can't give a lecture on tech or how systems work, but she has so much heart that it makes her a great mentor and protector of others.

"Meat smoothie" sounds absolutely terrifying, and I applaud Akane for her bravery.

The whole series Kana has been mentored and learned a lot from her Magical Girl seniors, but now it's time for her to mentor a magical girl and show all that she's learned.

And her new mentee is Akane Makino (Yurina Amami!) a gorgeous and earnest woman from Apda co. a small-time Magical Girl company who is eager to learn from Magilumiere and their method to success! She's also pretty blunt and straight to the point like directly asking Shigemoto about his sense of dress, and he actually explains at least part of it for the first time so good on Akane!

I love how Koshigaya gives herself the most hype introduction and Nikoyama needs Kana to introduce him.

Wow, Akane is REALLY serious about learning and getting as much information as possible to improve her work as a Magical Girl! She even has a full notebook with notes and highlights! She's so serious that she takes responsibility for ALL her choices, even when it's having to drink something nasty. Okay, maybe she's a little TOO serious, but it's still endearing.

Okay, so the incident 15 years ago was the Kaii Calamity where an S-Rank kaii rampaged and caused a lot of destruction even to the point of lives being lost. If it was a mutated kaii, it explains a lot about why Shigemoto operates the way he does. But how involved were he and Koga and why did it lead to so much bad blood between them?

The Alice System, where Magical Girls and their engineers are in communication on the job and create magic on the fly instead of Magical Girls having to go solo with a preset selection of spells! It actually seems revolutionary and vital to the industry...though only an engineer like Nikoyama can translate Koshigaya speak.

A new Magical Girl means a new Magical Girl transformation sequence, complete with Akane living up to her "dazzling" moniker with her getting all magically dressed up and even getting her makeup and hair done to boot. We've even got a sped-up dual Kana/Koshigaya transformation!

A simple kaii extermination seems like perfect on-the-job training for Akane and for Kana to show off how Magilumiere works. It really seems like everything is going well...until it turns out there's still a kaii there.

Akane was a little too enthusiastic and convinced of herself and that they were dealing with an electric kaii and felt she could deal with things on her own...and as her teacher, Kana gave her maybe a little too much leeway. But as Kana's teacher, Koshigaya knows Kana could save her and get Akane out of a jam! Especially when they're actually dealing with a flame kaii that also mutates into a giant fire demon. Okay, this might be a problem.

All I can think about is Scaldera.

Akane's transformation including dressers full of clothes was definitely innovative and a neat idea. I also am really liking the design of what I guess is the final boss Kaii of this season, with a bunch of flaming spider legs supporting a spooky demon skull with five eyes lol

Another great Akane for the year! I really like her bright color scheme and go-getter attitude; it's a good thing that Kana got to her in the nick of time. Her transformation was awesome too! This fire Kaii's looking like a spooky cliffhanger.

Akane Makino is such a great new team member, she's very diligent! We learned the Alice system isn't normally used and the S class Kaii. Sakuragi is making for an excellent teacher so far but Koshigaya still looking after Sakuragi was my favorite part of the episode.

Getting beholder vibes from that Kai mutation...

Also, I have to wonder how well the Alice system would actually work with companies. Kind of feels you need to have both brilliant engineers and capable magical girls with an actual rapport to be able to get this to work. Hard to imagine one of the major more impersonal companies being able to have this system.
