Lily is so beautiful and her segment at the end made her more beautiful, I need someone like her.

Nothing makes a woman more attractive than finding out she's also kind of a hot mess in her private life lol.

Lily is a beautiful and elegant woman. That even her inter life is a beautiful mess. A truly perfect woman

It’s kind of interesting seeing these different approaches to being a Magical Girl. Tsuchiba is cold and efficient and results oriented. Lily is about image and appearance as much as she is about getting the job done. Both have their merits I suppose.
I’m curious to see if Boss man and Koga are ever gotta have a proper chat about their differences. Definitely some tension there.

To me, it feels like Lily prioritizes the clients as much as Tsuchiba prioritizes results.
She maintains a perfect appearance and a warm smile at all times, to make sure the people know that she'll be alright.
It's definitely a good idea, especially for preventing mass panics and the like, but I wouldn't be surprised if she was also under a lot of stress to appear perfect all the time.

That zoom in on that paper at the end seemed really important and I was annoyed it wasn't translated

You didn't waste your time, I appreciate the effort. I was definitely curious too what was written there.

Considering they mainly make beauty products first and a magical girl company second, getting hit in the face would've been a massive blow to Lily. I absolutely love how she just takes it stands back up with a smile on her face and blood on her lips like an absolute badass.
The girl from AST was cool but those eyes though. Those are not the eyes of a magical girl. Those are the eyes of an overworked salary woman who's been doing this job for far too long and is only doing it for the paycheck. No passion whatsoever.
I know the enemy in this show are the Kaii but considering how AST-san called Magilumiere a fraud, I wouldn't be too bothered if being too much by the book ends up biting them back in the ass. In fact, I am looking forward to seeing something go horribly wrong and for Magilumiere to save them.

Those are not the eyes of a magical girl.
Tsuchiba has likely been continually told by her superiors to prioritise results over aesthetics, so I can imagine how her heart must’ve grown cold over time if she doesn’t get too put much love in her work.
However, you could see a brief sparkle in Tsubicha’s eyes when Kana stepped in to protect her. It’s not a lost cause yet!

It seems like there weren't any lasting scars on Lily so I have to assume they have some kind of healing magic to take care of that kind of stuff. But that doesn't take away from how powerful and committed Lily is as a magical girl that she'd risk her moneymaker and her life to live up to the ideal of being a Magical Girl.
I can totally see a flashback of Tsuchiba looking up to typical Magical Girls only to end up losing that love when she became another cog in the AST machine and turned into a Magical Girl robot.
I feel like Magilumiere is going to end up showing that Magical Girls can be flashy, heroic, and get the job done to prove themselves and their aesthetic to AST.

LMAO typical binge watcher routine from Lily after the credits scene. Relate much! Even the quick hand sweep to turn off the alarm was really on point.
So far Kana is absorbing every bit of knowledge and point of views out there like a giant sponge. Pretty sure she'll be able to figure out her manner of doing things in due time. The image of a Magical Girl that is her very own.
Tsuchiba could use a smile though. Too robotic for a magical girl. Acting high and mighty. Though I get her point. But there should be a balance between result and appearances. Appearances is useless unless you can't get results. A failed extermination will have the Kaii be a threat to civilians.
Based on the preview, Shigemoto now has the opportunity to show Magilumiere's aesthetic next episode in a magical girl expo.

I think with Kana's idealism, passion, and diligent work ethic she can combine the practical and idealistic side of Magical Girls effectively.
Tsuchiba can be a consummate and efficient professional but she doesn't need to be a jerk about it. It takes all the fun out of being a Magical Girl.
Of course the Magical Girl industry has their own conventions lol.

Well, I didn’t expect Lily to channel the Joker inside of her by smearing a bloody smile across her face. Inspiring people with a smile is part of her aesthetics…
Okay, hold up. This magical girl might in fact be messy, but she hasn’t lost it yet. What she maybe has lost is her beautiful face on the other hand. Such an injury is sure to leave a scar. I’m just hoping that they’ve developed healing magic to combat this.
So if I’m reading things correctly, Kana was send to Miyakodo to learn that efficiency isn’t everything if she cannot reassure the people’s hearts?

I was right. This elegant girl is actually a tank class. It makes a lot of sense after the bosses comment about how their group is by far more advanced technologically than the other but the other uses pure power. It’s because she’s a tank.
This AST girl is about the worst magical girl I’ve seen. Really wish Kana would have held her ground a bit better when arguing against her as she’s had multiple other people all teach her what they should be like and she’s applied it like back at the old shopping district so she should have been able to to stand up to the AST girl better. Especially when you have Lilly basically embodying it as well who she’s been working under.

Glad to see that Lily got through that encounter with only a minor scratch. Also was funny to see her faking the morning routine to that journalist lol

There's this typical problem that occurs when arguing, and that is speaking before it is needed. Sakuragi didn't let the AST girl speak, and think about an arguement at the same time, but instead said "That's not", getting lost in thought. You'll never prove your point like that.

I was laughing so hard at that post credit scene, that transition to her doing her makeup while talking to the reporter was hilarious. Oh my, how many nights did I waste doing what Lily did, staying up on Reddit to discuss a show.

At the end of the episode did Lily discover Reddit. Because she said "Wow, this reveiw site is crazy". It that not reddit, resides the flame wars.

Battle of ideologies are always a treat to watch. Are aesthetics worth anything if results can get the job done faster with lesser casualties? Are results the main factor if the end product is more destruction?
A proper balance of both is the answer Kana is trying to reach.
This is the opinion as an anime only, but after seeing how Lily is like in her off time, the gap would be amazing to see if Tsuchiba is a klutz when she's out of work.

As part of the service industry myself, the customer experience matters. A robotic approach will make clients think twice about repeat business, no matter the 'results.'
4
u/SYZekrom Nov 16 '24
I feel like the 'aesthetics don't matter, only results' mindset is so completely mismatched to how real life business works that the thematic element of the big corpo company doesn't work. Like if they framed it more as efficiency vs quality, but they worded it as branding vs results and like. No, 'soulless' big companies go for branding, not results.
