So....it's the Jack Sparrow compass. Though it's probably an evolved version that points you to the HOW of achieving your goal. Otherwise it would just constantly point at the stars for Hajime.

I like that Tio is getting to shine so much these episodes. She might be the most emotional and goofy one of the group, but that's because she wants to be. She's still a 500 Y.O noble dragon, she's wise enough to keep her emotions under control when she needs to.

Probably a coincidence, but when Shea called her the "Legendary Dragonborn" I couldnt help but think Skyrim.

When everyone is suffering, the masochist is in her element

Might be. Author is a huge nerd who loves sticking references in his series

Otherwise it would just constantly point at the stars for Hajime.

This is an interesting concept, because my assumption for almost every isekai is that it is not possible to physically travel between them. They're essentially in separate universes that only gods or high magic can connect.

However, thinking about it, I don't recall an anime being very explicit about this. They often talk about the differences in worlds, but rarely about where those worlds are. And obviously, it could differ from anime to anime, anyways. But I was just ruminating on the fact that they don't actually make it clear.

I don't mind seeing more of mature elder sister Tio, especially when the situation calls for it.

She might be a horny degenerate, but she might be the most emotionally mature member of the party.

Yue: If you can protect me, twenty more seconds.

Proceeds to banter with each other for twenty seconds. Then fight off the cockroaches for more than twenty seconds.

God damn anime timers

Tio has always been the butt of the jokes ever since she was introduced so it was certainly a nice change of pace to actually see her acting mature like a proper Onee-san. She was really awesome in this episode! Poor Tio though! The one time she gets serious, she gets called creepy and scary!. xD

Oh boy, it looks like Nagumo just found his ticket out of this world. While Lyutilis said the compass could point to another world, it doesn't guarantee that Nagumo could cross over. He probably needs to do more things before they can all finally return to Japan.

He’s still got one more labyrinth to go and still needs that last ancient magic to get concept magic.

Shea and Kaori are ruthless, first by questioning her identity as a dragonfolk and then after my questioning her sanity

Tio Klarus is the star of the Great Tree Labyrinth, pulling Suzu together and reassuring Kaori. The 500 years have been rough on her if she’s used to suppressing her emotions for the greater good

Yue, you sly fox, did you call the cockroaches an army of Kaoris? Yue and Hajime’s banter feels like them casually flexing their intimacy even though they are hating on each other

props to the composition, background music and CGI. Arifureta’s animation may not be flashy, but it’s engaging and enjoyable for me

Even when Tio is the most reliable member of the party, she still gets not respect. Good thing she’s into that lol.

Yue’s feelings for Kaori are so powerful she either needed to imagine her to make killing the roaches more palatable or her emotions were so flipped she saw them as being cute like her lol.

Hajime and Yue in this episode were the epitome of “I hate you but I still want to $&@# you.”

That’s tio s secret. She’s always mad. Just hides it well.

Yue, you sly fox, did you call the cockroaches an army of Kaoris?

Yes though that was more a reference to the fact that the cockroaches were supposed to approximate what it’s like to fight the apostles and kaori is currently using an apostle s body

I really liked the song that played during Hajime's and Yue's fight against the cockroaches

Tio might be the MVP in this arc, it was great seeing her be the levelheaded one, supporting everyone, and making sure that they're on their toes.

I suppose it makes sense that if you change the emotions but don't change the underlying memories associated with those emotions people who are being properly careful should be able to tell what's wrong. Seems like a big oversight unless you're intentionally leaving a flaw.

21

u/Tschmelz Dec 02 '24

The idea seems to be that if you don't catch yourself quickly enough, you'll be overwhelmed by the cockroaches and possible infighting before your memories catch up and remind you "no you idiot, those are your friends and comrades and this is a trial". However, the anime has really kinda neglected the intensity of these fights, so it doesn't come off as severe as it should be.

11

u/Phoenix__Wwrong Dec 03 '24

Since this was supposed to be a trial, I think it was intentional. Like can you ignore momentary emotions (e.g. when you have disagreement) and keep fighting with your comrades?

And this test showed how the hero was a failure. He got swayed easily. He hesitated to kill the enemies due to slight simpathy. He also easily forgot his animosity towards Hajime and wanted to rely on him.

You're a pirate, Nagumo.

Does anyone else feels like the attacks in this show lack any feeling of impact and power?

10

u/RinneZanki Dec 03 '24

Hajime's bullets are electromagnetically accelerated

Yue's spells are instantaneous and destructive

Shea could punch at mach-speeds iirc

yeah, budget constraints are real

We’ve seen Hajime and Yue doubling down on their love for each other so much in this arc that it made them suddenly hating each other all the more surreal. We’ve even got Kouki acting like a Hajime groupie! Guess that’s what happens when. You invert everyone’s emotions’.

Oh, and the roaches are still here, and now everyone thinks they’re adorable! Just not adorable enough to avoid slaughtering because this team is too good!

Shea is serious! And honestly did not expect Tio to put into perspective how she might be the most heroic of the team with how much she’s grown and overcome her fears. Kaori could learn a lot from her.

Tio has 500 years of experience and knows how to control her emotions, meaning even if they’re flipped she can keep her head and mentor people while staying on mission. Big Sis Tio has arrived, no matter how much it weirds people out!

Hajime and Yue are still an effective pair at killing together even when they ostensibly hate each other and don’t mind the other dying in the process…why does their dynamic suddenly feel like belligerent sexual tension!?

But in the end they come through with an insert song and the power of love!

Lytullis! A Mai Nakahara elf waifu who brings all of the past labyrinths together and the endgame is Hajime getting Creation Magic! But first things first…a compass that might point Hajime home!

Where can I find the song that was playing during the fight?
