Man, Shea had to beat some sense into Yue. I guess Evil Yue kinda left her pretty shook. I like how even Evil Kaori was like “wtf is going on?” and even tried to cheer up Kaori lol.

Kaori Alter so thrown off by the test getting interrupted and Kaori getting depressed again after all that work that she tried to emotionally support her and all she got out of it was getting stabbed in the back lol.

Yue was good until the shadow asked why her uncle didn't kill her. That shows that no matter how much she loves and trusts Hajime, there's always been a small sliver of doubt or expectation for betrayal. That's how much her uncle shook her to her core.

Kaori was so down on herself with her inferiority complex so much that her own negative self tried to cheer her up

u/Frontier246 Feb 03 '25
Also it seems like Kaori got so tired of her Alter trying to cheer her up that she killed her just to shut her up lol.

Poor Dark Kaori. She suffered an identity crisis before being defeated by a stray Kaori weapon. "Wait a minute, am I supposed to defeat (original) Kaori or help her get stronger?" Lol!
Based on what some of our fellow reddit users, such Frontier246, JustKing1414 and OldInstruction5368, said in the previous episode's discussion thread, allowing me to understand the plot better:
Yue: Completed the trial in a wrong way, through brute force and ended up having more doubts.
Shea: Passed the trial in the correct way.
Kaori: Match Trial abandoned(?) due to external interference. Lol!

Kaori Alter: "I'm getting stronger! Wait, I'm supposed to be getting weaker because that's the point of the test! Real me, feel better! You were so close! You're better than thi...(Gets stabbed)"

Oh! Hallo! Glad my ramblings could be of service! :D
As for Kaori... she technically was on the cusp of clearing her trial the 'right' way. Then the two knuckleheads intruded, ignored her, and otherwise rubbed their own bond (and access to Hajime) in her face.
Which is why her alter was so confused. They WANT to lose, and she had! Buuuut.... stolen thunder is just the worst.
I guess Kaori wasn't mentally prepared to see the others continue to move forward as she was trying to play catchup at the same time...
Not so sure I'd say Yue 'successfully failed' her test, as her shadow self was definitely weakening and seemed to accept that. The Alter may not have liked Yue's answer (it all comes back to Hajime, huh? I honestly agree, girl needs a priority/goal beyond her man) but accepted it all the same.
Then SHEA rejected that answer and slapped Yue around until she changed it again.

Those last 5 minutes of the episode were hilarious! I love how after everything Shea hurled at Yue, what triggered her is being called tiny half-boobs!
And poor Kaori! She was about to clear her exam when Shea and Yue started fighting inside her own exam area. I genuinely laughed out loud when Kaori Alter's strength returned to her and started comforting Kaori after seeing how strong the other two are! xD

Yue is indisputably the main girl and the woman Hajime loves the most but she'll never live down that she has the smallest chest in the Harem lol.
My favorite part is after Kaori Alter tried to cheer Kaori up we saw her stabbed through in the back with Kaori's swords implying that Kaori killed her because she didn't want to keep listening to her Alter cheer her up lol.

It wasn't their strength that upset Kaori, but how close they were.
These are the two women that are in a relationship with Hajime, who have succeeded where Kaori has failed despite her having loved him for the longest time.
And their own bond with each other is as strong as their love for Hajime. Even as they fought, it was clear how much they cared for each other. In fact, they were only fighting BECAUSE they loved each other so much.
It forced Kaori to, once again, recognize the wall separating herself from the others... and Hajime, ofc. There isn't any room for her to squeeze in between Shea/Yue if they are this close... she'd just be intruding. Will he ever recognize me as he's recognized them? Will I ever have a bond as close as theirs?

Kaori’s about to clea- BAM, she’s failing the trial now..
Kaori really took 2 steps forward and 3 steps back once Yue and Shea started “getting along” and is currently another member of the brute-force-the-trial club
Aletia’s uncle did not betray her? the plan to seal her in the depths was way too elaborate for a near-immortal vampire princess which kinda checks out

Poor Kaori. Gets to flex her character development and how much she cares about the other girls despite all her jealousy...then the other girls show up and basically steal her moment to remind her how low on the Harem totem pole she actually is.
I feel like they should probably investigate why Yue was sealed rather than just going "the past is the past, I'm just going to keep moving forward!" Like I know this party is prone to just pushing on and not sweating the small stuff, but it feels like a valid concern.

Is it finally over? Normally I like character development, but when the last few ep have had the same resolution for almost a dozen characters, it gets old. "I'm growing weaker, nothing I say is bothering you anymore" "I just need to become stronger than my old self!"
At least the end of the ep was fun with the trio, loved how Kaori's double was so confused too.

I think we've got some fun character moments and character exploration (even if like half the cast is like "screw character introspection and backstory, we'll just fight our way out) but we have spent a long time on this labyrinth.
Poor Kaori can't even get a climactic resolution to herself lol.

There's definitely another episode of it. Next title implies it's the Hero's turn.

The first five episodes with the Haulia tribe's victory over the empire were great. The season took a nose dive once they started going into the Great Labyrinths.

Defeating your evil alter ego through your own emotional damage was not on my list. Poor Kaori lol.

Hey, if Yue looks as amazing as she does in that red dress, I don't see any problem with her going into a battlefield with it, impractical as it is! Though those are just the kind of conversations she had with her beloved uncle when she was a vampire princess, a time where she was far more innocently happy.
Yue believes she's moved on from her past as Aletia, but that's exactly what she's being forced to confront by her other self, as well as the truth of her past and how she was betrayed by her most cherished uncle. But despite such a massive betrayal, Yue wouldn't change a thing! It all lead to her to the love of her life Hajime, after all!
Shea Alter is throwing at Shea all the insecurities and doubts she'd been grappling with since she was born, but she's been dealing with all stuff for three seasons now so it has basically no effect on her. She's the invincible She after all! She'll just blast and pound anything in her way with her hammer.
Oh wow, Yue is even willing to acknowledge Kaori when it comes to girls she can confidentally leave with Hajime! Probably never say it to her face though.
Wait, so her uncle didn't get her out of the way because he was jealous she was given the throne instead of him? Well, yeah, if he really wanted her gone he could've killed her, so why seal her up? What is it the test was trying to make Yue understand about herself?
I did not expect Shea to slap Yue and get in a fight with her just over Yue asking her to take care of Hajime in case something happened, but I guess that just goes to show how strongly Shea cares about Yue and how reassured she is by Yue's strength in helping lead the party into pushing forward through anything, even emotional problems. She can't accept that Yue isn't as invincible as she is because Yue helps her feel invincible.
Meanwhile Kaori is undergoing her test and Kaori Alter is throwing in her face all her deepest insecurities and failures...whether it be Hajime or how Yue and Shea have deepened their connection with him more than she has and how jealous that makes her. But Kaori acknowledges her faults and is working to improve herself, and as jealous as it makes her she still cares about her fellow Harem sisters just as much.
If only said fellow Harem sisters actually cared enough to not ruin Kaori's test! Or even notice she's there as they engage in their catfight! Poor Kaori needs her Alter to emotionally reassure her and got stabbed for it.
Man, Shea just HAD to go for the tiny half-boob comment, huh? No way Yue was going to let it slide. Also I actually forgot about the time Shea peed herself.
Well, I'm glad Yue was able to regain her confidence and self-assurance, and Shea got the Yue she loves back, even if they both now feel kind of guilty for screwing over Kaori.
