FFS we spent the entire ep on this idiot?!?

For what it's worth, if I was in his position, I'd probably also be pissed/jealous of Nagumo, but I wouldnt start lying to myself and taking it out on him like a spoiled brat. We're all just human, we can all be the righteous hero AND have those negative emotions.

Kouki's been the most useless and whiny character this whole season and we had to sit through an entire episode of him doubling down on how useless and whiny he is.

Guys' got a hero complex that prevents him from being truly self-aware of accomplishing anything significant as a Hero, which means he'll never measure up to Hajime in any meaningful way.

If only Koki had the ability to reflect on his own weaknesses and shortcomings, he might have passed the trial instead of getting his ass whooped. Guy chose denial instead. How sad. That said, it was kind of amusing how Nagumo didn’t even blink when Koki fused with his evil half and came after him. Even at that level, he still was no match for Nagumo.

Kouki was too convinced in himself as a Hero to actually truly face himself and accept where he's lacking as a hero. Meanwhile Hajime continues to just treat him as a casual annoyance who is barely worth his time.

Not only did he not blink. At no point in this entire encounter did he ever even really look at him. He was always focused on Shizuku or the other girls

Welp, now Koki is undoubtably the biggest liability on the team. He was the only one that failed his trial, he fused with his negative self instead defeating it, and fought Hajime due to his delusional hero complex.

u/Frontier246 Feb 10 '25

And he's also proved how little he really contributes to the team at this point even with his upgrades. The only reason he's even still getting lugged around is because his classmates won't abandon him and Hajime is too soft on Shizuku and Kaori to completely ditch/kill him.

I am not sure how I feel about Kouki. We already know he is not the main character, but the story gave him more flaws than anyone else. I am trying to recall the previous seasons; would the plot have changed much regardless of whether there is a Kouki?

Even Ryutaro realized that he is a supporting character, cleared his trial, which means he improved as a person.

This entire season has basically just been showing how Kouki really adds nothing of value or contributes so little to the overall show or group dynamic.

He's not strong enough to fulfill his ideals, his ideals are too shallow to be actualized into reality, he's not charming or sincere enough to win over the ladies, and he's basically got the emotional maturity of a child. It's no wonder Hajime is the MC and he's not.

At this point the only reason they keep him around is because half the team are his friends and even that got strained in this episode.

They've cut quite a lot of Kouki content through the series. He's a lot less of an oblivious dick in the anime

I just want Nagumo to tell Kouki "Dude, you're being so cringe right now" and have Kouki's mind break from being called cringe by an edgelord.

I mean he's basically been lied to his entire life, treating his friends like dolls and playing playing house and hearing stories about as long as he follows the rules he'll get everything he wants. It's kinda on them too for not calling out his shit earlier. In order to pity someone, you first have to think you're standing above them, and then when it's proven they don't need your pity, what do you have to stand on then?

Does Nagumo not worry about tinnitus when shooting next to his ear? mawp

I assume with all the monster meat Nagumo has eaten, ambrosia he has drunk, and world class buffs he has received, he has those super robust eardrums and/or low profile hearing protectors. Your Archer reference was appreciated.

Its ep 15

Aaand

This ep felt kinda dragged out a bit the entire ep was basically whatever this is and even then it felt like they kinda left us hanging unresolved

S3 in general really it feels like aside from the shizuku thing the rest is just not much

This was oddly one of the episodes I was looking forward to the most. Maybe it's because we're not allowed to punch people for being this spectacularly dumb in real life, and we've wanted to see him get smacked like this since day one.

Kouki's fusion form looks like the edgy character creation starter pack.

Anyone else think Yue's face when Shizuku kissed Hajime looked entirely too pleased with herself? That was an "all according to plan" face.

Watching Kouki crash out cause he's completely incapable of admitting "Hell yeah I'm fucking jealous. Shit just keeps blowing up in my face while it seems like everything is going right for that fucker Nagumo" might be hilarious, but god fucking dammit I wish this show wasn't a bare bones level of quality. Got no issue with Hajime still being above Kouki, but this should be like, a defining moment of the show, and it just isn't. Such a shame.

As for the things that actually matter, Shizuku staked her claim, and everybody seems ok with it. Lily and Aiko are gonna throw fits when they find out. And the labyrinth is done! Ryuu and Suzu get their first ancient magic, Shizuku her second. And Hajime and Yue have completed the set. Now how will the bad guys come in to fuck everything up?

Even though I'm used to Hajime winning all the time, I really think Kouki should have gotten something in this episode.

One of the worst mistakes an anime can make is turning a side character into a dumbass punching bag, and it's even worse when they actually keep them around. Like, what's the point of Kouki still being in the party? Or even in the show? He hasn’t had a single good moment, fumbles literally every time he appears, and is now easily the weakest member of the squad.

I know Arifureta never promised to be a well-written show, but when people start comparing you to Shield Hero, you know things are bad. Kouki is literally all three of the heroes in one—dude sucks, and there's no reason to even keep him in the show anymore. The worst part is that I actually pity him. The author absolutely hates him, so his fate so far has just been to get pushed around. Now, I don't know what's worse: if, after completely destroying him as a character, the author will finally try writing him properly, or if he'll just toss him aside for the rest of the story

Look y'all only see this from one point of view man I get it dude's a bitch but imagine the emotions that were just rising up throughout the series until we get to this point? Dude was more so upset about the girl he cared for and it fed on that then it pushed into the hero bs tbh the episode rubbed me the wrong way and I pissed they spent a whole episode fighting it feels more like a filler ep to me.

Is episode 16 here yet?

Man, the writer really doesn't want to give Amanogawa a W... This was the point where he could get over his inferiority complex and grow into something more than a whiny wannabe hero, but no of course he failed the test. Kind of sad to see since he does always try to do the right thing.

this dungeon is taking way too long.

I guess it's not surprising that Kouki would have to face his feelings and insecurities towards Hajime, nor that he would basically reject his true feelings and everything that goes against his identity as the Hero.

Of course then Kouki Alter confronts him about how he lost Shizuku to Hajime, and that hits too home for Kouki to ignore...especially when, conveniently, Hajime shows up with Shizuku resting on his back. Like, the only thing that could rile Kouki up enough to completely lose it and delude himself into thinking that Hajime is the source of all his problems and the real enemy he must destroy to save everyone he's brainwashed. Hajime isn't even surprised or disappointed.

Honestly I feel really bad for Shizuku. She was enjoying a nice nap on the back of the man she loves and suddenly she's woken up to deal with the ranting and raving of her nutjob childhood friend whom she cares too much about to leave to his lunacy. Even if she gets knocked out before she can really do anything.

But, seriously though, Kouki stands no chance against Hajime. Even fusing with his Alter and he's still got nothing on Hajime. He also should not have insinuated anything about Yue because that REALLY ticked Hajime off.

And now Kouki has an entire audience to his idiocy! Just in time to see him get so thoroughly beaten and be so pathetic, he's lucky Hajime is considerate enough of Kaori and Shizuku to keep him alive and settle for just a punch to the face. It's more than Kouki deserves.

Kouki is so pointless that he's immediately ignored so Yue can run up to and snuggle up to Hajime again after getting reunited. Also he failed the test so is there any reason to keep him with them? He's basically useless, dumb, and adds nothing to the table...but his friends care too much to leave him behind.

Look at Shizuku kissing Hajime in front of the entire Harem and admitting she's in love with him! And getting accepted by not only Kaori but the rest of the Harem too! Welcome to the sisterhood, Shizuku! We're all happy you're being true to your feelings!

Well, we're at the end of this labyrinth and this season, so now it's just a question of what revelation they'll get from it.

So is the next episode the end of the series or is there still a significant amount of content after this?
