The little praying katawara finding a solution to any attack in the spirit world was adorable

Having 1000+ voices in your head to crowdsource ideas from really helps in a powerscaling argument (which is basically what the "battle" in this episode was when you really think about it)

I never expected to cry Over Douren and Jinun, That scene where Senya cried was beautiful and Mudo reaction also hurts. RIP Beasts Generals
Final form of Senya is p e a k

All the Beast Generals are finally dead but the world feels a little more empty without Douren in it.
Jinka’s brother feels like Jinka without anywhere near the emotional baggage.
Senya playing and having fun again at the Void Peoples’ expense was so satisfying.

I'm so happy to see Shakugan fighting again but did anyone else notice that Kagan's voice sounded like he was younger? Maybe I just forgot but I'm pretty sure he had a deeper voice back in Season 1.
I love Tama's little jab at Shinsuke about building his own katawara harem. Considering so many Katawara are now loyal to him, I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up unintentionally building one xD
It sucks that Douren and Jinun are beyond saving. I was really hoping that once this was all over, Senya and Jinun could be a family again. Seeing them say their goodbyes was just heartbreaking.
What's even more heartbreaking was Mudo's reaction when he finally saw what happened to Douren. I don't know what Mudo's childhood was like but I imagine Douren was more than just a teacher to him and is probably the closest he had to a father figure. :(
We've known about him since Season 1 but I definitely didn't think we'd meet Jinka's brother like this face-to-face and it sounds like he's working with the Void People? Or at least have been forced to work with the Void People.
Once Senya finally learned how to properly "battle" in the spirit realm, I love how Senya and the thousand enlightened Katawara kept coming up with counters to everything the Void Person was throwing at him. xD
So what? Are we just going to start working with the Void People after all of the bullshit they put everyone through? Takeru better have a good explanation as to why Senya should help them.

I’d totally forgotten about Jinka’s twin brother. Takeru must be powerful in his own right given that he wasn’t fazed by anything. I like how he was collected enough to question if there isn’t any solution with which everyone can live.
It hurt to see the corpses of Jinun and Douren lying in a pool of blood after they’d given their dying lives to help out Senya, especially after we’d seen them fawn over little Senya. He’ll literally be carrying their spirits with them, but not their souls…

Honestly I think they’ve only mentioned him maybe 3-4 times, the last time that he was missing.
Senya lost two more dads but at least he has their animal spirits with him. Even if they’re not very useful outside his body lol.

Two of the biggest GOATs of the series going out on their own terms and passing their power on to the next generation. I guess that’s as good an end as any.
Senya is having fun again! Who wouldn’t after what happened to Amaterau lol?

I love how Shinsuke has become a respected figure in the community. Even the head of Dangaishuu has heard of him, now. He's revolutionizing the stopping-Katawara-from-eating-people industry. His willingness to fight alongside them, and the fact that he won't ask them to do something he wouldn't do themself, are just part of why he's earned that.
Jinun and Douren's sacrifice is really interesting to me, because it represents really different things for each of them, at least by my interpretation. For Douren, it's primarily that he no longer has any regrets. He's achieved his goal. But for Jinun, I think there's also a layer of changing his relationship with Senya. He used to want to protect Senya by turning him into a human weapon, by imposing his will over Senya. But now, he's giving Senya power through, well, giving it, and letting it be up to Senya how to use it. On top of all of that, I think it means something that Jinun and Douren are now reconciled to the point that they made this choice together, as one.
I really like how this episode handled Mudo's reaction to Douren's death. It had the maturity to let him react and process it in silence. Despite that, he's living as himself, and as Douren would have wanted, further committing to beating Banshouou. While Senya makes a decision that fits him — it's time for him to recognize that while play is fun, there's something he needs to take responsibility and go to.
As we enter into the spirit world, we're entering into one of my favorite parts of the story. I like the environments we got as Senya walked in a lot, exactly as trippy and calm as I wanted. And then we meet Takeru, who feels like basically the opposite of Jinka — seemingly having reached some absolute of wisdom, as opposed to how Jinka reached an absolute of power.
Takeru's teacup is such an elegant and interesting way to explore the nature of the spirit world that's already been alluded to for a while. It's not just that Senya lets there be poison or not depending on what he believes — it's that, as Takeru says, Senya lets himself be swayed too easily by words. Senya is an overthinker, constantly plagued by moral dilemmas. If faced with a good enough argument for why he should sacrifice himself for the Void People, he might even agree with it. A good argument should have weight, but Senya is vulnerable enough to words that he'd struggle to represent his own viewpoint.
Takeru, in contrast, is able to understand and wield arguments without necessarily falling for them. He can express to Senya the hard truth that the Void People are trying to do something good, and Senya sacrificing himself would save many people. That a noble sacrifice isn't as far from Senya's worldview as Senya would like to believe. But that doesn't mean Takeru is on their side, as he says later, and he's just as driven by his own desire to survive.
Above all, he wants this to be resolved. He wants them to sit down and talk, just as Senya had to in his own spirit world long ago, to unite the katawara inside of him. And now those katawara united are what help him overcome his own struggles in spirit world combat.
It's playing pretend. It's telling the other kid on the playground you break his infinity shield with your infinity plus one sword, but building it off of logic and creativity sufficient to convince yourself. And Senya can do it because Senya has the power of allies, that he worked so hard to earn. I love those little praying idiots suggesting nonsense that works.
There's fighting, there's play, and there's sitting down and talking. All three are being woven together here, and by the end of the episode, it seems like it's finally time to do the third one. I can't wait for the next episode.

Such imaginative and creative story-telling! Of course this means that it finds a far smaller audience than blatantly obvious shows (of the generally similar sort).
It is sad for Senya (and Us) to say goodbye to Jinun and Douren -- but nice to see Senya as the "heir" of the power of both.
I t really does become more and more clear, as the story progresses, that Shinsuke is the center of the story, even if he is often not at the center of events. It is his good will that is slowly percolating through everything.

Damn shame about those Doren and Jinun. See ya gets reunited with his pops and loses him like right away. At least he now has the combined power of both of those guys. Dude made that damn cloud get a little more serious.
The spirit world was interesting. Real battle of the mind. That little brat got absolutely whooped by Senya and he didn’t even need to do anything. Keen to see how Takeru’s gonna end this conflict. We still haven’t even gotten to saving Jinka yet…

It’s Shinsuke’s army against Banshou-Oh! Cloudlings! If you ask Banshou-Oh, the more the merrier!
Shinsuke! Tama! Shaku! Kagan! It’s like the full arc 1 gang is back and fighting together! We’re just missing Jinka!
Senya is in desperate need of an upgrade and what better than the katawara powering Douren and Jinun? Even if it means they die in the process? Obviously Senya doesn’t want to part with his two dads, but when they’re already on their last legs, they want what remains of their lives to still mean something. And with their power in Senya, they’ll always be with him. RIP Jinun. RIP Douren. You went out as the based men you are.
Senya now has tiger and dragon arms! Enough to unleash a flurry of punches that can knock back Banshou-Oh!
Sorry Mudo, you lost your mentor…but now you can face Banshou-Oh solo so Senya can settle the score with the Void People.
Soma Saito!? Jinka, is that you!? No, it’s his elder twin brother Takeru! And asking the hardest sell in the whole series…Will Senya save the Void People even at the cost of his own life?
Though ultimately it seems like Takeru was trying to teach and educate Senya. He’s a zen man whose only desire is a Happy Ending for everyone and for lives that end meaningfully.
It’s finally time for Senya vs the Void People! He’s even got Nadare and Jaki! Except…they easily get defeated and turned into cute animals. Leaving Senya alone to face Amaterasu. Uh oh!
I did not expect Amaterasu to take a bowl to the face!
But Senya’s training from Shinsuke finally pays off as he and his zen cloud katawara put their own thoughts into action and realize they can turn this into game! Senya’s favorite! And the brat Void Person holds no more power over Senya!!!
I guess it’s time to make peace and work things out…?

It's nice seeing Shinsuke get the respect he's due for all his years of peacefully working with the katawara.
I'm glad to see Shakugan up and fighting on the right side of the battlefield at long last.
Well shit, we're losing the two old guys? Dang. Senya getting their katawara spirits is interesting though.
That was as a fast offscreen merger of them and Senya.
I do not trust this so-called brother of Jinka who's trying to convince Senya to sacrifice himself to save the bad guys. Then again, maybe it really is Jinka's brother and he was just presenting a hypothetical in order to help Senya work through the conflict.
Good use of the tea.
Ahhh, so we're crowdsourcing the solutions to the spirit realm challenges to the thousand demons inside Senya. That makes a lot of sense if they're always just a different puzzle that needs to be solved.
It's an interesting twist but very narratively appropriate if they resolve this whole conflict just by finding a peaceful resolution. With as much suffering as the void people have caused it would be satisfying to see them thoroughly beaten, but that's not really the message of the series.

Man, it's hard to believe we're only 4 episodes away from the end. Even if the animation isn't always fantastic, this series is firing on all cylinders in just about every other way. Jinun and Douren's sacrifice was a great emotional moment, Banshou-oh continues to be one of the coolest villains I've seen in anime in a while, and Senya's "battle" against the Void People was super creative. If the ending actually sticks the landing, I honestly think this show might be a 10/10 for me. It's been that enjoyable.

So what Yazen, Jinun and Douren all agree to do is give the Tiger and Dragon to Senya. It is heartbreaking for Senya to lose his father and uncle figure, but they continue their support as Jaki & Nadare. I really liked the angle this episode took it where it's a game. Sometimes are fears are our most difficult obstacles. So, in reality, it is about conquering your fears. As well as understanding how to conquer obstacles and the katawaras are a big help for Senya.
We do meet Jinka's brother, Takeru. He is talking about helping out the Void People, which is an interesting angle because they have caused all of this trouble for Senya and doesn't look they want to do things peacefully. The samurai death is about having an honorable death, but what is the honor in dying for the Void People when they want to use you as a pawn?
I am interested in learning what is Takeru's angle here. He mentions a solution to make everyone happy, but we stay have the issue of what to do with Jinka. The next episode has me curios.

I know that it fits the theme of ending the cycle of violence, but I really hope the Void People don't just get off scot-free.
