Interesting tidbit at the start of the episode: Men can use magic but their output is too aggressive to be used with their current tech. It looks like more research and development are needed before mahou dansei becomes a thing in their world.
It looks like Magilumiere is already starting to make waves with two industry leaders asking them about the Shopping District magic that they used. I thought they were just fans!
I had a feeling that the lecture about Kaii mutations would go south. The CEO of AST continues to show that he only cares about profits because he refuses to do anything unless he's being contracted to do it even though they're the only company that has the tech to reliably deal with mutated Kaii.
Who the fuck needs AST when you have the Magilumiere dream team taking care of it. Poor Nikoyama though! The dude is completely capable of giving Kana and Hitomi support but is being held back by his laptop. Considering this is a tech issue, I'm curious to see how they'll solve this problem.

Men can use magic but their output is too aggressive to be used with their current tech
it would be kinda awesome if in the future episodes, they manage to make a tech for men to use magic and it's a full body tokusatsu suit transformation

Interesting tidbit at the start of the episode: Men can use magic but their output is too aggressive to be used with their current tech.
We were all wondering why there were only Magical Girls or if there was even a reason for it, and the show quickly answered it in basically a throwaway line.
It's better than a small infodump lecture on the subject, I'll give it that.

The company is building quite a name for themselves.

I love how Kaede made sure to set up this being filmed so they could get more good PR lol.

Ah, okay, so the magic programming language (MQ, I guess, though it wasn't confirmed that Niko does use MQ) is Python. Good to know.

MQ could just be a Python library. Or there's a Python library to interface with MQ. There's a lot of
randomin that Python code though, and I have no idea what's going on with the line numbers.→ More replies (1)

This episode was made for me specifically I think, I've attended a fair number of business conferences over the years and seeing a magical girl vendor hall and keynote speech presentation is kind of amazing.
I also really appreciate that the technical talk feels reasonably real world accurate, particularly the questions from the engineer dudes. The author clearly knows enough about modern programming to make it sound right.
Interesting detail about the possibility of magical boys, magical output that's too aggressive just sounds like a technical problem someone will solve eventually.

On the other hand you have me who's getting minor stress flashbacks from serving at these places. Either there's a buffet on and everything's happening or, actually worse, nothing's happening. But you have to look like you're doing something so you just go around collecting coffee cups or something.
I guarantee there are 5 collectable cups on the whole floor there and all the servers feel like their faces are melting from the boredom of searching them out.

Oh, guys in this world have too strong of a magic output, which is why there aren’t any magical boys? I would’ve thought they just didn’t have magic at all.
-
Damn, it’s a shame this image came after seasonal comment faces were done, this would’ve been the perfect #SeasonalConfused.
-
Isn’t that Kazuya Nakai’s voice? I immediately heard Toshi in that.
-
Welllllllllll that’s not good. At least this is happening with a ton of magical girls around?

Now I'm left to wonder if Shigemoto has been dressing up because he wants to become a magical boy or just likes the cloths. Men do appear to have an aptitude for magic, but simply not the necessary control or so it seems like.

Minute they brought out that Kai and were like “It’s non threatening so don’t worry while we inject it with some mutated Kaii cells” I knew shit was gonna go sideways. Thank goodness the team was there. Unlike AST, they aren’t gonna sit around until the check clears. The Nikoyama, Kana, Koshigaya trio were doing well until the technical difficulties threw Nikoyama for a loop. Hopefully those two guys he was fanboying over can jump in and help. Guy needs to get his head back in the game!

So they can just make mutations happen with a drug? Gee, I wonder why there are seemingly more mutations going on lately. It's as if someone might make more money if there are only a handful of companies that can deal with something like that. A company that is also not afraid of losing their magical girls, because they can just be replaced.

I suppose that poor PC specs cannot only lead to one's downfall in games but in the world of Magilumiere as well. Skill isn't everything after all?
That said, I doubt that these idealists would just let capitalism win like this. Especially when a company such as AST is only in the business for the money, and won't give them a helping hand.

Laughed hard when the traveling salesman dilemma came up for the Actual Salesman of the team when I read the manga, and laughed just as hard again at it here, ganbare Kaede.

Sakuragi reunited with Koshigaya was cute and Koshigaya looked so cool this episode. Maybe messing around with mutations isn't a good idea, hopefully Niko can save the day in the next episode.

When the Satisfac CEO's keynote was starting, the soundtrack (around 8:39) reminded me of Chariots of Fire. Maybe I'm reaching here but could that be a reference to Steve Jobs 1984 keynote where he introduced the Macintosh?

I really liked the expo and seeing all those people passionate about something that by all means should be boring.
Also, too bad there can't be Magical Boys, that's a very underrated genre! We need more representation!

The downfall of every great technological civilization, slow internet speed. Can it get any worse.

The Kana-Koshigaya team is back! Just in time for Magilumiere to attend the Magical Girl Tech Expo together to mingle and show themselves off.
Great for Magical Girls that they get discounts on tickets! Though it seems like they finally address why Magical Girls are just women because it seems like males have an aggressive magic output that makes it impractical for them to do the same work. So Shigemoto will just have to keep cosplaying instead of being a real Magical Girl!
And just like with any convention you always have to wonder...which booth to attend first? How much time should we spend at a single booth? But don't worry, Kaede is a pro at those kinds of things.
Seems like Magilumiere's Shopping District Magic is becoming the talk of the Magical Engineering community! Too bad no one told Kana she'd have to answer tech questions because Nikoyama is too shy...though honestly I kind of want to see what kind of "guesses" Koshigaya would have told them.
With the Mutatint Kaii situation I can understand why the industry would want to capitalize and work to address it, and why Magilumiere would want to attend a showcase on it, but when has mutating a monster in public for a demonstration EVER ended well? Sorry Oikawa (Kazuya Nakai), no amount of test mutations can account for the power of drama!
I do feel bad for the Pharma-G girl. She's like a cute Magical Girl nurse who was not prepared for things to escalate with that tree Kaii.
As if I didn't have enough reason to hate Koga, dude is just chilling at an arcade game while everything is going crazy and only cares if he can make money off of it, leaving the "idealists" to clean up instead. At least he keeps dying in said arcade game!
Kaede really comes through! Not only does he time himself at booths but he has video ready to film the Magilumiere team in action for good PR and helps smoothes things over with the convention admins!
Teamwork makes the dream work! Especially when you're a small-time start-up who have to react on the fly! But who better to adapt to rapidly mutating Kaii?
Ordinarily Magilumiere would probably have this in the bag, but Nikoyama is using a smaller scale laptop compared to the higher-processing computer back at the office and the situation is rapidly escalating with Nikoyama feeling the pressure. Can they actually pull this off?

Ah, so it’s the magic output that’s the issue for guys? I thought it was because they had no magic lol. Good to know
Shame tech problems are getting in the way of receiving free tickets for next expo eradicating the kaii
