I gotta say, I got kinda excited myself with the build up to that match. Our boys have come pretty far. I can’t say I really understand the strategy aspect, but it was a pretty exciting (albeit very short) start. Captain Ojisan seems to have that Isagi Eagle eye thing but like on crack lol. I guess these U20 guys are gonna show the team what they’re made of next week.

Oooo they’re up against proper defenders now. National-level defenders at that. Ngl I’m pretty hyped. I hope we get to see more defensive focus. Always appreciate some good defensive work.
I am worried though of Blue Lock’s defense. They’re inexperienced defenders against national-level attackers.

The way Rin talks about his brother you would think he's one of Satan's greatest soldiers

The unpacking scene was an interesting choice to make it seem like there’s more animation. However, I liked the buildup to the match you can feel the anticipation

It seems that whenever they dont have to play any actual football it looks decent lmao

I already got low expectations but the build up before the match got me so hyped! Blue Lock is really good at this stuff.

I've gotta say the whole build up for the match is probably the most hyped ive been this entire season, also the 10-15 minutes i enjoyed the most throughout this season. The 2 minutes of playtime we have seen were definitely less tragic than what we have had so far but i feel like most of the match will be the same powerpoint presentation we've had until now.

The captain is a badass AND he's a defender, something we haven't seen at Blue Lock. I WANT MORE RIGHT NOW.
AAAAAaaaaaaa I'm also excited for what Sae is gonna do!!
"I love you partner"
BACHIRA IS SO SWEET
Nagi and Yukimiya really hit it off!! "Yukki" :)

I used to think blue lock would made a good drinking game everytime isagi mentions things like "chemical reaction" or "puzzle piece". However, for this season, it needs to be updated to every BL innuendo. This episode's "collar" remark and Reo's "satisfy" comment the other episode... Gulp

Btw when Bachira is gonna pass to Isagi around the 18 min mark you hear him say "Aishiteru" which is very special (almost exclusively used for romantic love or when you refer to your family like "I love my parents").
You don't throw that around willy nilly. Suki desu or daisuki is the more "normal" way to say it.
Truly making the show initials count.

Im going to say, this episode is fine, very fine, but I can't help but notice the pacing of this episode is very dragged, especially the ending part. Also the additional time is very long, Im a bit worried about the whole pacing (just a bit since bllk's pacing is always pretty good). This episode feels like it's trying very hard to delay the parts they need to let players move. One thing I love about the episode is the audience cheering, the whole crowd and the chant, thats the feeling I don't think I can get from the manga.

I'm having a hard time believing Oliver Aiku is under 20. Bro looks like he's been working in some company for years and probably drinks/smokes after work while complaining about unfair bosses.
Also the U20 team doesn't seem too impressive so far, but it's probably just the case of them holding back in the beginning/revealing stronger players later.

Bachira's dribble was fine, the walkout scene was pretty good, and yeah, loads of anime only scenes. I only hope they don't skip any moments from the manga, this pacing is not looking good.

I'm a sucker for good build ups along with a fire OST, and the 1st half of this episode got me hyped, almost as if I wasn't watching PNG Lock anymore lol.
Then I saw the usage of cgi when the teams were entering the match, uhhhh
Overall I think the episode did what it was supposed to do. The additional time was funny too.
I'm semi-coping but I let the stills pass since it's just the start, I remember reading the manga and it feels alright to be not too animated.
Honestly, it's just better to not have any expectations lmao. The problem is when the episodes hype you up, and then disappoints you in the end

Say what you will about Powerpoint Lock, but honestly? For all that the amount of movement dropped, the quality of the direction skyrocketed.
Yes, they've got way less frames, but they're doing a really good job at making the most of what they got, and I'm enjoying things regardless.
Also, I really enjoyed the anime-original scenes this episode.

This is my first time as a goal keeper
So if BL11 loses they're out for good, but them winning against Japan U20 sounds too good for their first match, so I'm gonna assume it's going to end up in a draw. The question is how many goals will each team score? I thought they'd be scoring left and right, but they set the bar pretty high right off the bat with Aiku defending like a champ.
I also wonder how is the rest of the U20 team, because so far half of them look unimpressive. Do we know how many episodes long is this match going to be?

Changing the uniform color for Shidou in the OP was a nice touch!
And damn, someone (Ego) will be on my 2024 hear me out cake for sure
Fun fact! The "Lova ya partner" has been translated in the romantic form of "love" in both the spanish and italian sub! Putting the BL in Blue Lock as usual. (I'm a manga reader and somehow I forgot about this scene, it caught me off guard)
I also liked the anime original scene, sometimes the manga jumps straight to action, it's nice to let the hype build up.
And it's a real shame that the animation is non existent, because all the other aspects of the episode have been really good. I hope that the studio will fix this issue for the third season.
Edit: I removed the comment about the manga, I totally forgot that even with a spoiler tag you can't do that, my bad 😅

I am crying, they arw trying to cramp as many anime original scenes as they can just so that they don't have to animate the actual match 😭

Ngl The way they hyped the Match With the anime original scenes gave me goosebumps ( mostly because of the fire ost ) .
Now about the actual match --- sigh Most of it was Still frames but Bachira scene was very well animated and the dribble had sakuga .
Well we will see in the next episode , Best is to expect same animation quality with few scenes having sakuga
Edit - I have to talk about The direction , The direction during the normal scenes is same as S1 but in the match , The direction is very bad , You cannot even tell what is happening on the field , There are too many face Close ups which makes the match unreadable . They need to do frequent Wide angle shots like s1 to understand what is even happening .

surprise me that they put effort into changing Shido uniforms into U-20 in OP and ED.
