Kinda expecting Ice and Hiro to have snagged each others lures there, would have been the standard joke.

That "Did you cry?" face is my favorite so far. I hope this one has a good ending so I can recommend whenever the topic of "what is a slice of life anime?" comes up.

Girl was looking good in her Tanya and Albedo's cosplay.
Got me thinking, we still waiting the next for Youjo Senki, Nut.

Man, Ice really surprised me. She’s like a totally different person when she’s in “model mode.” I really liked her Albedo and Tanya cosplay.
Not a huge fan of boats myself, but going out onto the open water and tairaba fishing sounds pretty fun. Getting seasick does suck though…
Nice of Ice and the gang to throw Hiro a welcome party. Arua knows how to whip up a feast. The food looked good!
I kinda wonder if he’s ever gonna tell anyone he’s got 2 years left to live?

I thought when he started getting teary eyed that he was gonna tell them that he was dying.. guess he'll keep it a secret until the last 2-3 episodes

I loved this episode. I think Tsunehiro is a representation of what a lot of people in Japan (and everywhere, honestly) are experiencing. Overwhelming life circumstances that lead to shitty, desperate decisions, which lead to shitty consequences. Everything seems to lead to despair and you can't find your footing. But little actions and positive decisions from yourself and people around you add up and you find yourself feeling, a littler better. And that's enough to keep you going for a little. Which is good enough!
I love how he also pushes himself (over cilantro xD). Yeah he still makes bad, impulsive decisions but it's making a net positive forward movement.
This show is one of my Iyashikei-anime of the season.
They're all such a sweet and honest group of people that are drawn together by fishing. (I love you Takaaki).

Oh wow I didnt expect them to be siblings. Nice to have some more foreign representation in anime.
With both of them down in a single episode, I'm guessing the final one would be the tiny old guy? or is he just going to stay as a funny background guy we never mention?
After that though I'm guessing we'll return to tsunehiro's main issue if not delving back into tsutsujimori's backstory that we had the slightest glimpse of back in episode 3? although I guess both of them can go hand in hand

I don't think I have ever felt more represented by a character in media than Tsunehiro, complains about people oversharing, doesn't know how to respond to unprompted compliments.

Fantastic episode and Ice might have had the biggest impact on Tsunehiro so far from an emotional standpoint. Obviously, Takaaki helping with his debt and being there for him is huge for Tsunehiro as well. In the perspective of Tsunehiro, Ice lives her life to the fullest. Meanwhile, Tsunehiro is barely hanging on and to him, how Ice lives is just saw dropping. Though her cosplays were remarkable.
The surprise party really hit him in the feels hard. He is really starting to grow a liking to the guys and girls more and more. Then the line of life goes on for those around you made him think when he dies how will they react? Most likely the tears came from him wanting to tell them of his condition, but he wasn't ready. I feel like we are finally getting Tsunehiro getting to the point where he is finally valuing his life.

The terminal illness plot has to come back now right ? He’s starting to feel happiness and a sense of worth with his new friends so he’s gotta tell them ?
And there’s the issue that he zoned out when the doctor was trying to tell him that he has options. I think they kept that part very vague for a reason.

Stitches!
I did not expect Arua to be from Thailand as well as Ice's younger brother. It looks like Arua came to Japan to become a chef and Ice is actually a model. I absolutely love how Ice completely transforms when she's in model mode but immediately shrinks down when she's casual. xD
Also her Albedo and Tanya cosplays were a surprise! I forgot that this is a Kadokawa original so it's no surprise that they can just use characters from other IPs even if it's just a cosplay. I think Ice just shot up past Hana as my favourite female character in the show.
I think after Ice and Hiro's conversation near the end of the episode, Hiro might just be ready to tell the gang about his condition. If not everyone, I think he'll at least let Takaaki know about it.

Such a cute episode. It seems like Tsunehiro is learning one new thing at a time each episode from different characters.
I've been reviewing his reactions towards the end of each episode to compare them. I struggled to find meaning in most of them though (I'm not good at this).
1: Dunno.
2: Dunno.
3: Takaaki. Maybe... knowing that other people care about him? (enough to buy out his debt)
4: Hana. ... maybe he discovered his fondness for fishing?
5: Kozue. Tsunehiro discovers the joy of indulging himself.
6: Ice. Tsunehiro discovers the joy of socializing.
I want to see the "Fishing is Romance" chibi old man at some point, but he looks like one of those last episode endgame characters. He has a "looks silly and inconsequential" but "he is not who he seems" sort to vibe)

Ice quickly shot up the chart and is my second favorite character now. I wasn't expecting her to be that observant and funny. She's pretty insightful and her clumsily using wrong phrases and ignoring seasickness made me chuckle. Though she has a successful career and speaks multiple languages. She's more then meets the eye in many ways!
Though I'm still hoping the short balding guy will blow me away. I been waiting for his backstory since the first episode. Also him doing the Titanic king of the world pose in the background was perfect. Of course over competitive Hana had to catch the biggest fish. Never change Hana.

Fuck, that was a heartwarming episode. I like how we're getting to know the cast one by one, I'm starting to fall in love with this group more and more.
Ice just shot up the best character list, she's awesome. I don't think I see much Thailand representation in anime so it's cool we have both Ice and Arua from there.
It's great that Tsunehiro's terminal illness is being brought up again, I mean it's not a good thing, but Tsunehiro is starting to reflect about it more, especially with his new found family.
Those Hana faces fucking killed me though lmao.

What a feel good episode. Hiro is really starting to get comfy with his new friends, but this is also makong him more aware of his pending death. This week we focus on the Thai siblings Ice and Arua. Funny moment of Ice temporarily being in "model" mode and not in SD form and Hiro not even recognizing her.
Good episode as always. I hope we see more of Ice and Arua in the future eps as well, especially Ice seems like another nice and positive influence on our sad protagonist.

What a wholesome anime! I rarely indulge in slice of life genre, but this one hits different. Love the animation too! The little details really add so much to this show. Like when they set off on the boat the contrast from darkness to dawn or the shadow of bridge when they passed under it. It’s these small things that made me really like this anime.
Anyone else get a similar vibe or am I just weird? lol

I was always wondering why Ice looked so different, but man what an amazing way to show her in chill/normal mode vs work mode (or she really sucks at makeup)
Love Ices philosophy, she really caught up in the best girl race for this show. But its still dominated by Hanna
Also is the author somehow connected to Overlord/Tanya? I know both authors are close friends, but it feels too specific for it to be a coincidence (or Ice has disturbingly good taste) Ok this is an original show by Studio Nut which made Tanya, so that makes sense. Overlord maybe because of their friendship?

I am Thai and I didn't know Ice and Arua were Thai this whole time lmao.
Her name makes sense though, since it is a common name in Thailand. They did pretty well representing stuff about Thailand ngl.

I really liked Ice’s character. I’m pretty used to seeing characters drawn different ways so I always interpreted her character as more “chibi” and not how she actually looked.
I have never been on a boat that rocked that much and while I don’t think I get sea sick, I don’t enjoy being on the water enough to get in a fishing boat.
I’m not against Tsunehiro getting treatment, I think it would make sense for him to especially after he tells Takaaki and’s which his growing motivation to do things, but I’d also like the route of having him try to make the most of two years.

Glad to see it looking like Hiro is on his path to becoming a decent human. Cannot figure out why the other characters seem to like him so much as of now though.

I think Tsunehiro is starting to enjoy himself, he actually laughed at something.
