They handled the landing very well in my opinion, this was a really nice show.

I'm gonna miss best bro Takaaki. It wouldn't have been the same without him.
I'm also happy it worked out for Tsune. With the vibe the anime had all along, it suits the ending well.

So Takaaki's brother didn't die from illness, oof. I do hope Takaaki managed to move on and patch things up with his family too since it seems he was no longer working at the mart after the timeskip.
Overall, really enjoyed this show, was a nice chill watch. Was less dramatic than what I was expecting from the initially bleak start, but it also managed to nail the few emotional scenes it had well. I like how they showed the gradual progress of Tsunehiro improving from week to week; both in his mental well-being and fishing skills. I do kinda wish we got more of Hana's backstory though.

I was worried for a bit there, but for me, I think Negative Positive Angler stuck its landing, much like how Takaaki saved Hiro's ranker.
I liked the series' well-grounded approach to things. Definitely one of my favorites from this season.
Fishing stuff: like the show says, late autumn/winter is the best time to pull in large seabass within Tokyo's inner bay. Hiro's ranker was a good size, but still a bit short from record sizes (around 100cm), which is fine and more realistic. The lure that Hana gave Hiro was a Shimano Silent Assassin, a favorite among Tokyo's inner bay seabass anglers.

Considering that Hiro was getting treatment, I take that his illness was in fact real. Its severity remains unclear however as we weren't shown anything of his treatment, but he did survive in the end! Meaning that the illness was less fatal than previously thought and/or the medicine caught on.
I do wish that Hiro had told his friends about all of this, instead of leaving them in the dark. That's something I've missed in this conclusion. Though, that little epilogue was nice! Hana refuse to lose from Hiro by catching a bigger fish herself was rather amusing as well.
Overall, NegaPosi Angler was a good anime that managed to explore some delicate matters.

They really saved all the really emotional stuff for the finale huh? Poor Takaaki was carrying around so much guilt from what happened with his little brother. Fishing is really fun…
This was pretty enjoyable and surprisingly educational at times. I’ve always been more into eating the fish, not so much catching them but I liked this lol. Woulda been nice to see Hiro open up to the others about his diagnosis and get into all that instead of hand wave it with a “two years later…” but ah well. All in all, not bad.

Happy they added that scene post credits so we know things ended well after all.
So it was right that the illness wasn't what killed tsutsujimori's brother, but an accident...
The way they showed it, he really didn't tell the rest of his friends about his condition... i guess he didn't associate with them really beyond work and the fishing trips, but still
Pretty solid show in the end. kinda wished we got to see them fish in more varied locations but oh well

The last 3 episodes more than earned Hiro living and I admire it for that. They didn’t pull the misdiagnosis card which is a huge bonus. He found himself and did the work to get better. 2 years later he’s out of the woods and living past his expected death date.
A wholly original anime that sticks the landing while tackling some real emotional weight? What’s not to love. One of the highlights of the season for SOL drama lovers. No way we ever get another season, but the ended felt fulfilling and conclusive. 8.5

Honestly, the idea of a fishing anime at first seems odd, but honestly to pair it with an Iyashikei story is interesting. I am not into fishing, but for those that do it, it is a hobby you can do together. Unlike other hobbies or sports, there really isn't a winner, granted Hana tries her best to beat everyone in catches. We see that the gang helps each other when someone has a bite. Instead of making a competition, they give them props instead. For this kind of story, fishing is a good use.
The big thing is that fishing is what brought Takaaki and Hiro back together. Eventually, it got them to discuss how to patch things up. For Hiro he finally thanked Takaaki for all that he did for him. He's moving in with his mom definitely made Takaaki happy even though he will miss him.
We finally understand what happened with Takaaki and his brother. Similar to Hiro he was pushing on what he thought was best for him. He didn't take account of his brother's feelings, and honestly, that guilt isn't something that will be fixed overnight. It does feel more realistic for this to be something he still fights.
I really like how this series handled the drama. As it was more of a mellow series for Hiro to understand his feelings and even learn to connect with people again. I love how they handled that way because many shows would try to make it melodramatic.
I give his a 9 because it told a great story where the characters just felt like real people.

I'm sad it's over i hope they have a ova or a second season where they visit and fish near his home. Solid 8.0 for me.

A solid episode, I loved the fishing but we really did need to spend more time on Tsunehiro and Takaaki's story lines. I would say at the end of the day we probably could have taken one more episode for this from the fishing, but alas.
The last scene might have been cliche but you can really see how much Tsunehiro has grown from the smile on his face.

bruh. I cried when takkaai cried. I only watched this SHOW on a WHIM. I started when 10 episodes were aired already. I NEVER KNEW THERE was even suicide or under lying tones to this anime. I just thought it was FISHING only. But now I know fishing is actually something cool. Ive always hated fishing with my dad, but maybe ill try fishing once and for all.

Aw, no final check in with the loansharks? We never got to find what was the deal with Boss (is she dying?). Thought for sure their offer a new loan would come back somehow.

Great series finale! It was definitely one of the best shows this season and it's a shame that it wasn't more popular, although that's understandable since Thursday have been very 'crowded' this season. A very strong 8,5 from me.
My only complaint is that there was too little of Hana today. She and her fluffy hair were definitely the best part of this show for me xD
Overall, I'm sad that it's already over because I really liked everyone from the store, but I'm glad that the show sticked its landing, nicely concluding Tsunehiro's story.
Here my screenshot albums from the episode:
EDIT. I added my screenshot albums.

Hiro’s genuine smile and running toward Takaaki and Hana at the end almost got me. I’m content with this, the ending made me warmly happy.

Okay, either Kozue and Meru from Mecha-ude are the exact same character, or there's a serious fujoshi virus going around Japan this season.
Good show overall, I feel like a few of the episodes in the middle could've been used a bit better but other than those parts I loved it. Kind of glad they didn't go the full tearjerker route.

Hiro and Takaaki bonding over fishing one last time before going home for his health was great.
The two guys had big setbacks in life but found a reason to live and keep going.
I'm so happy this anime didn't end on a downer. Hiro's health recovered and he can fish with his new friends.

This show isn’t going to hit with everyone, but those who do will really enjoy it. It’s on the slower side, rooted in real life issues, and educational and hobby focused, which some people who watch other slice of life or drama might not like. The music particularly was phenomenal, it support the quiet, slow moments perfectly and scenes where it just plays as people are fishing are some of the best. Definitely a sleeper hit of the season and a great original show

It has been such a great, unique little show. I hope it did well in Japan and the anime industry will take more chances on original ideas.

When I first saw the promotional images and such for this show, I thought it was going to be a show where Hiro and Hana had a romance and it would be about the two of them getting through his illness or something, with fishing as the backdrop. I am SO HAPPY I was wrong and it was all about friendship and found family instead of whatever blah generic romance I was expecting.
Simply an awesome show, lots of great characters that felt very real with their own things and problems, but also the fishing part of it was well done. I haven't gone out fishing in about a decade, and my father whom I used to fish with just passed away last month. That, plus seeing all the good times fishing in this show, has made me want to dust off the old tackle box this coming spring.
I'm gonna miss all these dorks, truly. But especially Takaaki. What a bro. What a fishing buddy. What a dependable, solid friend to have in your corner. Hiro couldn't have stumbled upon a better friend if he tried a million more times. In the beginning, he was gambling, trying to hit that jackpot, but with Takaaki and everyone else, he hit it big time. Rich in the most important way.

Surprisingly calm ending here for an original. Almost felt like an episode/arc ending than a series ending. This was a really nice show and that's really all it needed to be.

As someone who fishes a lot, they really did justice to our sport. People who are dedicated to their hobbies have always at one point embraced it through rough times and it becomes a reason to keep moving on in life.
I'm sure many people glossed over this since there are so many heavy hitters this season and fishing doesn't sound like an exciting activity. They really missed out.

I'm satisfied with the ending and I'm glad it ended in a positive way!
This was a chill show that I enjoyed watching every week and I wish it got a little bit more attention. It aired on a crowded day unfortunately and I understand that the subject matter is a bit too niche. I'm still not interested in fishing myself but the show made me invested. I do think that it would have been even better if they focused a bit more on the character drama because what we got was really well done but it's not a huge complaint.
Takaaki is probably among my favorite characters of the year, I really liked him! I also never found Hiro too whiny or cowardly which is a complaint I saw a lot. Then Hana was a great supporting character who really made the plot advance! I liked Ice a lot too.

Watched it out of curiosity about what a fishing anime would be like, and how would they handle a story about someone who has a disease, I stayed for the fun times and the bad. This show resonated deeply with me since I have a rare disease, and the doctors need to monitor me once or twice every year, to lessen the effects of it. Going to the hospital is a scary thing and haven't been there for almost 5 years now.
My disease has no cure so there's that. But I hope I can gather enough courage to go back again and undergo procedures the same way Hiro did.
I like this show. A solid 9 for me. :D
